    I love this. One of our successful touch points was “I’m heating up water for tea, would you like a cup?” I never realized the need to continuously remind them that we were still fully committed to them. Looking back now, that makes total sense. Also, in our experience it was almost 6 months before our teen would voluntarily come out of her room and join us for a family activity without an invitation. That was also around the time that she had been in our home longer than any other prior placement, and I think that is likely not a coincidence.

    Listening to this sitting at my kitchen table in Russia and even though the system is different the thing about parenting are so universal! It's great!

    I love it. Give time and space for them to have havens. Have daily, consistent touch points. Communicate "I'm good. You're good. We're good." especially after conflict.
