NZ could get around nothing, nor LR will do, are too similar as boat speed, a slight advantage for NZ but they was in ther wind condition range, with light wind it will be all another music.

So from leg 1 to leg 3 LR put a gap of 400 meters in front of TNZ (saying us that TNZ can't go around nothing if they're behind), is that you shoud see instead of the end of the race.

Te Rheutai is certainly fast but not so fast that she can do a carnival carousel around Luna Rossa despite the presence of wind favorable to the navigation characteristics of the Kiwi boat.
Definitely better than the old monohull sailing was like watching paint dry. I do question course width but can understand reason why. Though for a more entrigueing race it would have been better to make courses a little wider.
TNZ boat was (in its ideal wind conditions yesterday) a bit faster downwind, a bit slower upwind and sailed a bit lower and was less maneuverable. If it holds true that LRPP is faster in lower wind conditions (and we'll find out tomorrow) the TNZ boat will be technologically interesting but race wise a losing proposition
Bit early boys...Burling was a little pissed...made some mistakes...they still learning to race the boat...you gotta with the final race...I don't think we have seen TNZ yet...3 4 and will have a better idea ...this gunna be awesome
Te Rheutai is undoubtedly fast and in the wind range of the first regatta he showed he is comfortable building speed with free bow but a not so different vmg in the sides of the bolina and slightly better at the stern. It cannot therefore be said that it has such high speed that it can win simply by "pressing the accelerator" which appeared evident in the second race. Both teams confirmed the peculiar characteristics that were hypothesized with the result that ETNZ is slightly faster than LRPP but not to such an extent as to be a decisive advantage for the competition. The differences in trim seem obvious, as do the manoeuvring, turn and bushing characteristics. In the first two races the wind was in the most suitable intensity range for the Kiwi boat - about 14 to 18 kts - and now it will be interesting to observe the differences between the boats in lower wind conditions and the effect on their maneuvering capacity. It depend much to the wind configuration of single boats, NZ is little faster in the first race, but in downwind got some problem of speed. About sayling style I think the invention of 2 hellsman now is good and many other teams in the future will copy this.
Did you guys not see the last stretch for home on race 2. Yes luna rosa did maybe an extra gybe but the meters were coming down real quick on the straight
Definitely quicker down wind. But LR near impossible to pass upwind and are very good at putting a following boat back a 100 metres or so. It's going to take a careful setup to make it count for anything. On the other hand if ETNZ go around the top mark first LR will need a load of luck to reel them back in. Still anyone's game though.
The boat in front will always have a higher VMG, because it is free from everything, it chooses the path and pushes the other on the border to earn. That's all, true match race, only with variable wind, when they part in search of wind pressure, something can change, 1-2 knots more are not enough to reach the boat in front, only if they go constant 1-2 knots for the whole race, impossible, because they have very similar performances, you win upwind or downwind, in maneuvers or tighten the wind, remember that they are professionals, the best in the world, both of them. So if you don't see a huge difference, you don't see the huge distance. They can only change sails, the foils are set, these are the boats and these remain until the end AC. Whoever maneuvers better and whoever takes the wind suitable for his boat will win. This is. good wind in Luna Rossa

Sure, but is not by analyzing the time between race 1 and 2 that you can understand it, there can be many reasons that don't depend on the speed of the boat that decide a race (in this case for example, talking by race 2, the JK in the penultimate stern side from LR). Again, that's not to say that ETNZ can't be faster, it only means what I already wrote (every race counts for that race, not for others). That said, my opinion is that the two boats are very close and a lot will depend on the wind (light or strong) and the skill of the sailors (who errs less wins).

In first start Jimmy, after having beautifully positioned LR, made 2 big mistakes. So NLZ had a big speed advantage. But it was a one-time chance for NZL. Burlington was really very clever to capitalize. Can be Jimmy, at the end, is a human being and felt the pressure. Forza LunaRossa!!!!!
Whenever the VMG was displayed (I wish they would keep it there throughout, next to the speeds) ETNZ was quicker, even as much as 3 knots. And the way ETNZ pulled ahead in Race 1, stretching its lead, and caught up so much in Race 2, shows that it has a slight edge in speed and VMG. All they need to do is not give away the start.
@@Nobilangelo I think tnz don't know how best to sail her yet. Cause there were moments that boat just took off. From eye they are sailing too low and fast and the extra speed is not making up for that lower angle. As seen when they did make ground leading or behind it always came from sailing higher.

As the 2 races yesterday showed, 2 boats are evenly matched. Same rules apply as Prada Cup: win the start and stay in front.

In a straight line, ETNZ is 2~3knts faster (refer to the race data), but LRPP points higher upwind and goes through the maneuvers much quicker.

Etnz won first race by 31 seconds. The second race they where only 7 seconds behind. So that to me is etnz is probably a bit faster.?

Very reliable sources have told me that the LR team in race 1 were dragging a CQR anchor and in race 2 were trolling for tuna out of boredom.
Te Rehutai does seem a tad bit faster. The start of race 1 was an all out drag race and Te Rehutai really pulled away!!!

Whatever speed is claimed for ETNZ didn't help race 2, LR are better at start and just as fast.
