      @@malfunctionjunction6212 I've never seen Cerwin Vega have anything to do with a recone or any repairs for that matter. What address did you send it to??

    Hey Love your channel!! Also love Cerwin Vega's have three pair. but curious if you ever showed the fully restore 211's? I have the 217Rs of that line and love them. I still need to upgrade the cross overs. But would love to see the 211s fully restored.

      I will definitely be getting back to this project as soon as possible. I am still debating on what route to go for the new cabinets and trying to source out better quality recones for them as I was not satisfied with the ones Speaker Exchange sent me.

    I pulled a pair of 211s out of an e cycle pile about 4 years ago. Refoamed, replaced the crossover caps with mundorf film caps, good cleaning of the cabinets and some Howard's feed'n'wax, new cloth on the grills. They sound great. Not the most revealing speaker, gotta put some volume into them to really make them come alive, but they aren't real fussy about room placement and they look good. I'm going to be buying the new l100 classic mkii but I'll keep these around for funsies.

    Love your work man! I’m fixing up a pair of S2 myself for the moment. For now it refoam time. Later I will start on the cabinets.
    They are only 211 yes, but I think they are rare no? In Norway at least they are.
    The sides with the holes and that water damage is beyond a proper repair yes. So I say change the side and top plate. Maybe get the sides cut in a machine if you have a workshop close to you? To get that 45 angle on the top and the cut for the back plate to fit in? That cut needs to be 90 degrees perfect for the back plate to sink in properly. About that vc, maybe there are longer vc to be found somewhere? So that you could reuse that new cones you have but change out the vc only. I think I have seen the somewhere. Perhaps Brew City has something.

    • @SavingVegas
      @SavingVegas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had thought about contacting Brew City to see if he would be willing to help me out with new recone kits for these. I want to get the proper cone depth as the originals as well as the proper voice coil. I'm pretty picky more often then not when it comes to rebuilding my speakers.

    For the panels that have a step in them in the back, if the total thickness is say, 3/4" you could use one 1/2" sheet bonded to a 1/4" sheet that's slightly longer (making the step) that way you don't have to try to rotor a step into the edge of a 3/4 sheet of wood. Just an idea if you wanna build new sides :)

    One more thing. Id like to see you upgrade those crossovers. I have the same old capacitors on mine and I need to update them.

    • @SavingVegas
      @SavingVegas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did mention that in the video did I not? If speakers are more than 20 years old I replace them. The first speakers I replaced the caps in were my D-1s and I couldn't believe the difference.

    Ive got a pair of 311p's which are quite similar, Did a refoam job on them, they turned out nice, but want to change the capacitors on the crossover, yes, 40-50 years old. do you know where to get the data on the drivers for these older CV speakers? Im interested on the freq of the drivers. Ok, thanks. Would like to see them redone. Would be interesting.

    • @SavingVegas
      @SavingVegas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the woofer is a L-121 not to sure on the individual frequency specs for each driver but over-all they should be similar to my 211's even though it's a different woofer (L-122 ) which have a flat response of 32Hz to 20,000Hz. Not a lot of info out there on the 311p.

    On them surround,s. If u catch them before they really go, one can use Flex Seal. I have and it works well. Couple coats, and all is well.

    U wanna sell them!!??
