RE: Bathroom window - As your bathroom lacks a window and I thought I heard mention of expanding doorway, I recommend putting in a transom window. Ventilation is soooo important.
And natural light. I have a bathroom we remodeled with a chance to put in a window. Every time I go in there and have to turn on the lights, I regret not putting one in.
Happy Mother’s Day Abby🌺 As for the bathroom, I would skip the blue border, it feels dated to me the way wallpaper borders do. Going more classic with the tile gives you the opportunity to modernize and update with the less expensive details like paint, fixtures, mirror, etc…
Happy Mothers Day to you!! My husband passed away from ALS!! It was a sad story about how he went from being a strong farmer to a frail man. It is a sad story!! I do want to get a chateau within 5 years. I want to start a new journey with my life!! You have done a fabulous job on your chateau!! I do love your handyman!! He’s a worker!!! Keep up with the great work!! Lots of love from Tennessee!!!❤❤
What works really good for water spots on wood is mayonnaise! I've used this trick for years. Spread it on generously and leave it on the wood overnight. Works like a charm 😉
@@RuthWalters-d2g I was surprised that she also mentioned in a previous video that he had wanted it to be more than friendship, but she was maybe not ready for that, or something to that effect.
Hi Abby, I think mixing different styles in furniture is a more interesting way to decorate and it shows you are brave with your choices. You are a very artistic person just step out and show the folks how to decorate and stick to your guns you will be a style setter.😊
To restore and give colour to old french furniture use a 50/50 mix of white spirit and linseed oil mixed. Give it at least 2 coats may be 3. The result is stunning. Buff it slightly on the final coat with an old cloth
Get rid of all the tikes in bathroom. Use off white tile. Half chair rail. Tub should be on wall where toilet is. Sink should be in front of you as you walk in. Toilet next to sink. And tike should go to ceiling around tub.
Nothing like Feed N Wax to bring back wood! The armoire looks amazing now it’s gorgeous! Frustrating week in terms of securing the supplies needed for your bathroom but hopefully everything will come together in perfect timing while Bruce is here! The tiles will look fabulous and the faucets are lovely you have picked out! The 6ft tub would be lovely I know as I am also tall that not all tubs are are the best match for long legs😂Loved seeing the brocantes ! Such beautiful pieces and the painting are gorgeous! Thank you Abby for sharing! Hope you have a wonderful week ahead! Au Revoir 💜
Offering my 2 cents in the tile. Get rid of the old stuff and go with the half wall like the pic you showed. Much nicer imo. I love watching all of this unfold! You’re doing a great job! ❤
I vote for half wall tile with a nice bullnose chair rail and remove the existing tile. I’ve been to many very high end bathrooms in the states where a wall is tiled but the char rail is not a tile bullnose but a very nice wood chair rail molding that is painted and a wood skirting board. I don’t know if you like that but maybe it’s a solution for now and can be changed to a tile bullnose in the future. I’m glad you decided to start your gardens from scratch. I think you can have designed a low maintenance pretty garden, terrace, lawn. Love your lions!! Bruce is a very kind , reassuring man. He is definitely an expert at what he does. You are very lucky to have him. ❤
The way some of these brocantes are so packed, makes you wonder how they pull out these large pieces of furniture, once sold, without scratching them. ❤️😊
Happy Mother's Day! Remove the old tiles. Install the new cream tiles with a decorative edge. Put color back in with wallpaper or towels, rugs and shower curtain.
I was waiting for Bruce to say, " I've had it, I'm done". I would be looking in those shops for hours. I agree a half tiled in BR is good. BUT I would pick different light colored tiles. Have fun.
You could make elder flower liqueur (St. Germaine), elderflower sugar by putting dried flowers into sugar. The berries may be made into an immune-enhancing syrup (Sambucus), mead, or wine. Jam and jelly, too. Elderflower plants are wonderful!!!
Hi Abbie. Did you notice the 2 blue velvet chairs at the Brochante where you bought your console? They were a medium blue and would be Perfect for your office and just right size to sit across from your blue velvet sofa ! The Lions are wonderful by the doors❤. You must have been exhausted because I was exhausted just watching 😅😅. I hope Bruce can get that bathroom done because it looks like quite a complicated build, but it should be gorgeous when finished. Take care❤❤❤
Yes I agree the Bull Nose would look lovely and give a classier look I reckon. The tiles at the moment are so flat with not much definition and depth to go with the dresser etc. How exciting
For your bathroom, I would remove the old tiles and use the cream/off white tile with the molding as you described. Since the bathroom only communicates to your bedroom, keep its floor level the same as your bedroom's floor height. The ceilings are tall enough in the bathroom to handle it and it is much safer to have the floors on the same level. As to the water stains on the armoire, try rubbing it with the meat of a walnut.
Some of your fellow chateau owners use Gilboys products - all have pets so seemingly pet safe. Amazing results. The movie is Kinky Boots…and I hope you bought those for yourself!
Bonjour Abby! Your new-to-you armoire is a great size. It rather looks as though it has survived- barely - a flood. As you oil it, you might want to try the same treatment in a short time; from here, the wood looks quite dry, so the oil will be absorbed quickly. I’m loving the plans for your ensuite, and am sending good vibes that your orders are received quickly. I personally LOVE touring all the various brocantes! That gold mirror with the little wee oval mirror is wonderful. A la prochaine!
Use the rock boulders as part of the pool waterfall and use in a corner as a wall with blooming flowers coming down. Also use the tile as a mosaic on a table top or on planters. It’s a reminder of what was.
The mirrored armoire: Time to go shabby chic. Brush on a transitional primer like Ben-Moore Fresh Start and paint the dang thing some funky colour!🎉. Add some French motif stencils. Have some fun. Far less hassle.
For the spots on your armoire try using triple ott steel wool with lemon oil or the wax you bought. And when you use the steel wool make sure you go with the grain. We always used this on our teak dining room table that was a veneer and it worked well.
I would definitely raise the floor. I CAN'T imagine being asleep and walking to that room to tinkle. I would lose the teal and do the wet room chair level with the bull nose. I would use the floor tile up the Wall and not introduce another texture. Think "chateau" not modern
In Sweden, we drink a lot of elderflower lemonade and most families make their own since it grows everywhere. It's very refreshing and you can also mix it with whipped egg whites and freeze it to make a nice sorbet. For 2,5 litres of concentrate, you put 35-40 rinsed elderflower clusters together with 2-3 sliced organic lemons in a bowl. Boil 1,5 litres of water, 1,5 litres of sugar and 50 g of citric acid until the sugar is dissolved. Pour the boiling water over the elderflowers and lemons. Let it sit in the fridge for 2-3 days and then strain it. It's quite a strong concentrate so you mix it with cold water, or sparkling water before you drink it. It's also perfect to make drinks or mix with sparkling wine. You can store it in the freezer and drink it all year round. Hope you give it a go! Greetings from Sweden! 🥰
I love a vloger that shares the vision all the way through. we dont need to wait for that surprise final release. I read you revealed your thoughts. i just have to go back and see if i can find it. i was watching video douring my sleepy time.
Elderflower wine is delicious or cordial for mixed drinks. Made elderflower cordial last year and very much enjoyed it. Also later in the year could make elderberry wine, if left the flowers until later. So gives you two chances in one year. Wish you all the best on your endeavors and maybe sometime I'll get to a retreat.
Happy Mother’s Day, Abby! The teal looks like navy in the video. I love the look of the inspiration bathroom with one color tile and the bullnose-just lovely. ❤️❤️
Restor-A-finish will remove all water stains. It’s what in used by antique dealers in Canada and the US. Buy it for the wood you’re using eg oak, maple etc. apply with steel wool in the direction of the grain. Then use feed and wax. It will also disguise marks and dings
Have you factored in the added weight of the tile, 4-6” base, 6’ tub, water, and new marble counter? Quite a lot of load on the ceiling below for an old chateau!
Love the half wall..why not paint and research chateau french stencils..many beautiful ideas stencil, or wallpaper ..your crafty ..just make it yours..Happy Mothers Day,hope it was a nice one..Bruce is a wonderful asset to the chateau and endless knowledge..and can be trusted to work in your behalf..can't wait for you to have your own bathroom ..you've earned it!

Happy Mother's Day, Abby. Great finds from the brocantes. Looks like the day was full with brocanting. Bruce is awesome. I hope you get all of your materials to finish the bathroom before Bruce leaves. Hopefully, he won't be gone long. We are used to seeing him now.❤
Absolutely replace the tile…it’s had its day for sure. No teal stripe, no sbn, (bullnose)…love your inspiration pic that had chair rail same size and finish as new tile selection…focal point at this stage is the new tub and beautiful new bathroom cabinet…love how you make decisions ‘on the fly’…;)❤
Abbey, you may want Chair Rail tile NOT bullnose, at least that is what it looked like on the sample you showed on your inspiration. Bullnose is rather plain where a chair rail is not. I think you will be much happier if you remove everything in the bathroom and start over while you can. One thing I would suggest is decide where your towel bars will go now. Don’t wait until after you install the tub and realize there isn’t anywhere to hang a towel. Also, you might want to install a grab bar to help you get in and out of the tub. If so, Bruce will need to add blocking in the wall. I remodeled my bath recently, so many decisions to make. My bathroom is similar to your inspiration photo except I used marble. Your bathroom will be beautiful! You are getting good at haggling! BTW, I love the movie Kinky Boots.
Happy Mother's Day! I vote the for the vision look for the tile in the bathroom too. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Also, the little cheap armoire turned out to be really pretty.

I vote for the removal of all the existing tile and start over with the half wall tiled and bull nose cap. It will suit the style of the Chateau.
I concur 😊
I agree 100% ….
Agreed 💯
Rectangular tiles to replace all the existing tiles, and a new vanity/sink would look so modern. Bruce is a one in a million friend.
Bruce is and Angel , a good company and a gentleman 😘
Bruce is the best! You have been blessed to have his kindness!
Truly! 😍
I love Howard’s Feed and Wax. This has rescued so many of my antiques. I was totally going to mention it and I’m so glad you could find it!

No, I've only used
Mayonnaise on wood. It's oiler.
New cream color with the bullnose trim at chair height for sure!
Also, another channel used a product by Gilboys to bring wood back to life.
That is what I love best too.
Get a bat house to encourage them. They eat a million mosquitoes in a short amount of time.
Dear Abby..the wood need oil darling! Use the linseed and turpentine with very fine steel wool
.And buff to a soft shine!♥️♥️♥️😘

Watch out! I said that a few videos ago and really got jumped on by a few viewers. I agree with you though.

Elder flowers make a lovely and easy fizzy drink they call elder flower champagne in Britain. Quick to ferment and delicious.
