I'd actually have to agree with this, or else when are police ever going to be held accountable, they almost never are, and there is plenty of abuse of power by police all over this country. As they say, bullies like to become cops for their power trip, but everyone knows a bully is a coward to the core! Edit: But to the men and women in blue who are good guys, they are amazing!

    • @justin-2473

      Should be, yes.
But the Supreme Court said that police are immune to lawsuits and criminal charges as a result of cowardice. Scalia’s opinion made it pretty clear that police do not have any obligation to save you, or anyone else. They have no obligation to save lives, stop crime, or even prevent crime. Their sole obligation is to investigate crime after the fact.

I agree w/one of the dads here. Those officers who failed to act to save lives should NEVER be able to resign or get fired from their job there and go somewhere else in America and be employed as a police officer again, especially the chief. It was disgusting to watch one of the officers be more interested in using hand sanitizer and the other checking his phone than going in to save innocent children's lives standing there for 77 MINUTES while children are slaughtered. Most were wearing bulletproof vests and there were more than 10 of them, and they can't take down one 18 year old shooter? All these officers need to be put on a DO NOT HIRE national list for police departments to never work again. They knew the responsibilities of the job to protect and serve, and they failed horribly.

The people in that community need to get in the streets and protest. Going through the proper channels doesn’t work with corruption.

@@j.j.9123 Try understanding how doors work. So the lock of the door was functioning however the strike plate was not. The policy of the school is the doors are locked from the outside during school hours. Thus, all doors were locked.
The door the shooter walked through was open at the time. If you watch the interview with the little girl who saw it, she stated the teacher was going to close the door and the shooter stop her closing it and shot her.
The shooter closed the door thus the door is closed, locked but not secure.
This means in simple terms, when you turn the handle because the door is locked it will not turn. However, since the door is not secure when you pull at the handle the door will open.
You can't tell on CCTV if the police tried the door as the CCTV does not show the door as there is an open area in front of the doors because they swing outwards.
The DPS director was not really able to explain in detail in the senate hearing if the strike plate was completely broken or semi functioning. Means, sometimes the door may secure and other times may not. Maybe it just needs a bit of a shake to lock however. It was not clear what the case was.
So it is most likely police did try the door and found the handle would not turn because the door was locked, but possible they did not try to pull on the door handle. Or perhaps the door had secured in this case even with a damaged strike plate. We don't know at this time although it is possible.

Badges of dishonor. Those police officers should resign and never work in that capacity again.

I have a hard time comprehending why parents are upset about the video being released. They are more interested in protecting the mayor and police chief than finding out what happened to their babies and preventing it from happening again.

I sympathize with the families. But its important that there is transparency with this tragedy so that hopefully its not repeated.

I feel sorry for the families but, this video needed to be shown to public within days of shooting. This video, fights for and speaks what your children can't say. " These cowardly police officer's assisted in our killing. Look at them run from Gunfire. Look at them hide behind the shields like it was a training mission. Think 🤔 how is children alive, were waiting for these paid cowards to react. Your kids were wanting you as they died and look in the hallway what stood in your way to help them". No I as a parent would want the world 🌎 to see video the night of shooting. Your children are fading from the media spotlight, This video would have crushed the chiefs job, if shown when emotions were high, the governor would have had his head. Money isn't important now but a parent should have stepped up and sued the " chief, city council, and all", just to keep pressure on the police, while the world was watching. This is a mass shooting that the world 🌎 would and does, hate the police as much as the shooter. If he was a Black Chief and those were mainly White Kids, I don't 🤔 think the public would have allowed him to be on the earth to defend his being a coward.
