  • Come along for Day 4 of 170 miles in 7 days of kayak camping perfection on the Greenbrier River in West Virginia. We launch in Durbin, WV and continue our journey to Hinton WV. Day 4 was all over the place. Leaving behind Marlinton and subsequent flat stretches in the miles that follow, we enter our favorite 2 days of the trip. The sun played cat and mouse all day leaving us with a feeling that the day just went back and forth. Ghost Light Island saves the day!

    Ordered the smoked sausage Pete. One day delivery. Don’t think they will make it until our next adventure. ❤️

    Another great stretch! 1 thing I learned on the Mississippi especially with my garmin. It either needs to me clipped to me, the boat or the ridgeline. There is no in-between. Seems like you always risk leaving something at camp, just hope it isnt too expensive! Boy that last campsite, I love hanging right off the river
    D.D. God bless ya and your pup.

    Great shots, great music, A+ production Pete. I'm anxious to learn if Operation "Garmin Recovery" proves successful. Dirt Dobber, sorry hear about your dog, that's always a sad time for families.

    Great video series. A few of us are thinking of just doing a weekend fishing trip on the river. The stretch we are thinking is about 25 miles. Do you think doing 12-13 miles a day would be doable with us fishing, cooking, setting up camp, stopping to rest, etc?

    • @RiverKingsKayak
      @RiverKingsKayak  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right on! Very doable. You may have to get the miles in spurts and fish where it looks good...too much fishing and it will be tough to get the miles. Fishing is really good up there!

    Hey Pete, watching these videos of the Greenbrier has got me and a buddy really wanting to get up there. I don't know if we'd be able to swing the entire trip that ya'll are doing, but if we were going to maybe do a 2 night/3 day type of trip....maybe 15-25 mile days....any particular stretch that you'd recommend? I'm sure we could find some campsites based on what you've said, but are there any that can be reserved? Gonna dig around online some too this weekend, but just wanted to get your feedback when time permits. As always, a joy to watch you and the gang on these trips!!

      And I forgot to mention that hated to hear about DD's loss of a pup...we've got a 14 yr. old that's doing alright, but his time is drawing near and I always think about that when I'm gone on kayak/backpacking trips. I'm sure with the sense of humor that you and everyone has, DD was in good hands for the rest of the trip!!

    Beautiful scenery, do you ever get visitors into camp at night? I bought a hammock but not sure if i like the closed in feeling. Is there a hammock you know of that stays flat and open?

    Good advice is to get tarp up first then if you need to set up more you atleast have gear under tarp and i always dont mind some kinda of storm i always say makes for better story
