      The globe chet 4's the best dam sk8 shoe ever made.

    • @lerenardroux
      @lerenardroux ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Reviewing a skate shoe would be difficult for a non-skateboader IMO. There's a lot of context that goes into why a material is used here vs. there that a layman would not know. While I think Rose Anvil could def look into the quality of the materials used, that's only half the battle when it comes to skate shoes. The other part is having the skate knowledge to understand why each part of the shoe is reinforced differently, and if it's actually done *well* in the context of skateboarding (which is even more important for longevity)
      Remember that skate shoes are coming into contact with sandpaper-like material (griptape), fast concrete, gravel, etc. extremely regularly and so they're made with a very different ethos from what a traditional boot, shoe, etc. is made with. So while I think Rose Anvil could def talk about just the general build quality, I don't know how useful it would be in actually recommending a shoe for it's actual purpose without having a solid background knowledge of skateboarding and where wear-and-tear usually occurs.

    • @ClaytonWillisMusic
      @ClaytonWillisMusic ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lerenardroux he knows shoes, if they are well made he will be able to tell.

    • @lerenardroux
      @lerenardroux ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ClaytonWillisMusic I literally just typed up an entire thing explaining why that's only half the battle lol
      Understanding material quality and doing cross-sections is one thing but I probably wouldn't lean on a Rose Anvil review for a specialized thing like fencing shoes, just like I probably wouldn't for skate shoes.
      Obviously if you don't skate and just wear skate shoes as a casual shoe then it doesn't really matter but that's not what I'm talking about. The best skate shoe reviews are the ones that are done by actual skaters who show about ~1 month of skate wear on them because that's realistically the lifespan of a skate shoe (sometimes shorter or longer depending on how much you're skating or if you're using a ton of shoe goo lol)

    One thing I'd love for you to add is a fit guide, your personal sneaker size compared to the size you order in these different boots. Love all the content and to anybody who hasn't subscribed to rose anvil 2, you definitely should!

    • @watchreport
      @watchreport ปีที่แล้ว

      I think fit guides are worthless only because everyone has a different shaped foot. I look at reviews and sites on what they say the fit should be, order half size down. Order your normal size, etc and they never seem to be right. All these different lasts shoes are built on makes it difficult to figure out sizing. I’m a 12 in nikes and adidas, 10.5 in heritage or most lug sole boots (almost anything Goodyear welted, 11 in tactical or hiking boot and 11.5 in under armour and new balance. It’s all over the map. 😂

      I live in Tucson where I was lucky enough to thrift a pair of gently used vintage Stewart’s and even though I’m not a big cowboy boot person, I love them. Another trick for getting on a tight pair of boots… cut a long strip from a plastic milk jug. It works as a flexible “shoehorn” but reduces friction between your sock and the boot. Then simply pull the shoehorn out…it’s reusable. Works great

    When up a half size like they recommended. TTS Brannock size would have definitely been to small. The shaft is super narrow and difficult to get your foot through but once I got them on I was impressed by how roomy they feel. The synthetic definitely give you some spring to your step and you don’t need a break in other than stretching that a bit.
    For reference I’m wearing them along side a pair of Red Wing 866 I just got and there is a world of difference when it comes to break in.

    Cardboard sandwiching the shank is quite typical, often seen in older mid-range dress shoes, and it can last quote a while if it doesn‘t get wet (wouldn‘t like to see it on a work or hiking boot, on these it should be fine).
    The recycled material looks interesting, no idea how that would hold up though.

    Wish Wes would’ve shown him wearing the wedge sole Roper. I’ve been eyeballing that for about a year in the same color. I used to wear an Ariat Workhog while at work & while it was comfy under foot, the shaft could be annoying. I’m no longer in the field and I now own a pair of the Tecovas Roy & trying to get used to the feel of them.

    I would love another review on the reasonably priced Thomas Cook boots from Australia, they have Chelsea boots and cowboy style boots and they are competing in a similar space to ariat and rm Williams

    When we get to Christmas we better see a look at a Santa's boot lol
    See how old Saint Nicks foot huggers compare to other boots 😄

    I remember when Justin Ropers was all the rage.. It was Garth Brooks I can specifically remember "Friends in Low Places" hit big in Dallas.. Every teen would starch their britches, wear felt hats even summertime, got some Justin's, the whole package.. I mean hey whatever works but you could immediately tell "the country boys like us" and the "urban Ropers we called em"

    I have a pair of cowboy boots my ex-in-laws got me in 1986 or 1987 from Mexico they paid $25 in cash for them. If I didn't still wear them it would be fun to have you cut them up. Maybe next time the ex calls me I will get irritated enough to send them to you guys, lol. Boots are amazingly comfortable, I wore them attempting to dance many times years ago, just a comfortable boot. I probably wear them 40-60 times a year depending on where I am, never wear them in snow as they are bad on ice. Some of the other boots I have had lasted a few years these really have done well.

    for this series you should get a pair of CODY JAMES MEN'S DIESEL WESTERN BOOTS - WIDE SQUARE TOE. They are very affordable (on sale at boot barn for $123) and look like they might be made pretty well, but there is only one way to find out.
