    If y'all weren't expecting McIntosh to be a factor in the passing game, then y'all watched zero film on Georgia. That's why he starts. He's one of the best backs in the country when it comes to his impact on the passing game.

    To me, the play of the game for UGA was the time out called by Kirby before the fake punt. That was all Kirby's call. If you listen to the post-game presser, he said he was still on the "defense" head set line setting and had not switched to "special teams" line setting. He just saw a different line up and had a gut feeling and called the time out. Possibly a game saving call.

    Easy to say that about them missing the FG, on the same hand, had UGA made both of their 2 missed FGs, OSU would have needed a TD and PAT to tie vs only a FG goal to win. With that said, it is what it is. Nothing can change the outcome.

    UGA fan here. C.J. Stroud did up his game by increasing his mobility. Without his doing that, Ohio State may not have been close. He really upped his game over what it had been during the season. As far as the kicker, I have been watching many of the replays of the kick, and it is possible that had he not shanked the kick, UGA may have had it blocked. Ohio State truly deserved to be in the CFP, and they brought their A game, especially Stroud. Awesome game between two great teams.

  • @armynurseboy
    @armynurseboy ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Here's my take on the final 3 plays: They wanted to get a little closer for an easier FG but also burn just enough clock for the attempt. They didn't want to give ANY time for UGA to attempt a long hail mary pass.....because they had done just that multiple times earlier in the game. They also didn't' want to risk a sack that would push them out of FG range. So run it on 1st down, don't get much, but burn clock. Two pass attempts that were incompletions (and almost a sack on one of them). 50yds was within Ruggles's range and he made plenty of them from that far out earlier in the year. IMHO, Day's strategy was sound and should have worked. The execution was flawed. Ruggles just shanked a kick he normally makes. It's a heartbreaker for me as Buckeye fan, but I am proud of how my boys played. No one was giving them a chance and a lot of UGA fans on the boards were talking smack about how OSU "backed in" to the play-off and didn't belong after getting beat badly by Michigan. They came in swinging, and even though they lost, they gained a lot of respect.

    SMU would have won a national title in 1982 if their FG kicker had made a 52 yard FG on the last play of the Arkansas game (it was long enough but just slid wide.) They finished 11-0-1 and I think they should have been voted national champions anyway, but they finished #2 to an 11-1-0 Penn State team. If that FG goes in there's no question, SMU is 12-0-0 and the undisputed national champion.

    @linesider ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I respect Hack - love his knowledge - but to say OSU is one of the most talented rosters in America is just wrong. They have an Elite QB surrounded by average players, aside Harrison.
    Their defense gave up 8.3 yards a play vs UM - and then 8.8 vs Georgia; the two best teams they played. Who on that defense is getting drafted high? Who on that defense would you take on your own team? And aside from Stroud & Harrison, name one offensive guy you would take? Williams? Any of their o-line, who gets pushed around against good teams? Their secondary is average at best. Hack is comparing this team to past Buckeye teams, and its simply not the case. CJ Stroud & Harrison were the only “5* players” on that field - and if not for Stroud- they lose by 4 scores.
    The talent disparity imo was large. The reason the score didnt inidcate that is b/c they have a #1 pick at QB who closes that gap and makes it appear closer than it is. If OSU had a game manager at QB, the team is an 7-8 win team in a decent conference.
    This isnt the same OSU team that is littered w/ NFL talent like usual.

    Bennett and Georgia played with grit, but ultimately it was a cheap shot knocking Harrison out of the game that made the difference.

  • @HealingNews
    @HealingNews ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think that Harrison's hit to the head in the end zone should have been called targeting, he got hit harder than usual - caused a concussion - just one of 2 or 3 other questionable 'changes', that would have made a huge difference... Such as ref calling a highly unusual time out after a play had already been authorized and started... Not blaming 'anyone specific', it simply made me consider behavior called 'favoritism' toward a local team... but maybe not...? I saw years back a similar incident with with OSU's previous QB Justin Fields hit severely hard, WAS called correctly, yet even injured he was let back in the game and even injured made a touchdown throw... yet Harrison wanted to go back in and they would not let him because of the concussion.
    To further this discussion - Even the coach of Georgia being interviewed after the game said Ohio State deserved to win the game [maybe not exact quote yet perceived words]...

    • @dairyair5371
      @dairyair5371 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was not his quote, what he said was "probably". The so called targeting was reviewed and found that it was a hit on the shoulder not the head and the timeout was called before the play. When the coach calls it, it doesn't matter if the reaction from the ref is after the play started it's still a timeout. Your lack of football knowledge is leading you down a fantasy path of anger.
