This is so beautiful to me. I’m not even a Taylor Swift’s fan but I like how the song melds with his happiness. I love the message too. Richie’s life was coming apart but despite that, he finds excitement and purpose in his own self.
The real meaning is that this song sucks, but he was learning it for his daughter. He was sacrificing himself for the others, to be a better parent, to be a better person on the restaurant as well. The song still sucks, tho.

Likewise, he was enjoying waking up very soon, to learn how to be a better worker on the restaurant. It's not about enjoying Taylor Swift or enjoying waking up very soon, it's about doing what is needed to please and help other people. To make a special day/night for other people, like Chef's Terry restaurant was doing with the customers.

one of the best episodes of any show i’ve seen in recent memory. i also love how they used his alarm clock as a symbol of hope. as each day passed, he woke up a little earlier, until the very end of the episode where he woke up before the alarm clock even went off at 5:30. i think we can all relate to that in some way. it’s easier to wake up when you feel hopeful and love what you do.
A detail I adore: the statue they start flying towards at 0:45 is that faceless statue Richie mentions way earlier in the show, the one that was left faceless because the sculptor thought nothing else would reach higher than that building, as it was promptly overshadowed by newer, taller buildings. Well, I’m glad Richie’s done settling for less. This scene made me elated.
The fact that he's listening to Taylor Swift, not because he wants to, but because he's doing homework for taking his daughter to Eras Tour is next level.

This was the first time in a long time since I was a kid that a tv show made me happy while watching it and for the character. Not saying I’ve watched bad shows since I grew up but I haven’t had a moment where I was rooting for a character so heavily and I end up laughing with sheer joy, watching him sing and smile at the same time. It was a great and happy scene to watch. I’m glad The Bear made me feel this way towards television again
The camera going over the Ceres statue is (No pun intended) *Chef's kiss*. That anecdote Mikey tells about a drunk Richie calling himself the goddess of agriculture and Bill Murray using his phone is so integral to who he is. But now, we are hovering over this statue as a sign of how much he's grown up and can become something bigger than just the party animal while still remembering Mikey. This is the one episode of Season 2 I've rewatched and it's gorgeous.
The best scene in the show up intil this episode is when Ritchie brings the pizza to the table along with this scene no doubt episode 6 and 7 are the 2 best episodes of the show I think
This is not only the best epsisode of the series, but the best of any show. I loved Richies character development through out the series. I hated him in the first episode because he was an obnoxiously ignorant jackass, who felt the need to bully everyone in to doing things his way. Yet as the show progessed they were able to add depth to his character. He goes from a loser stuck in the past, but he finds confidence in himself in this episode, and the drive to genuinely be a better version of himself. Richie is now my favorite character in the series, and this episode really did him justice...
