Well, well, well......isn't this just a smokin' show from '74, 50 years ago!! WOW!! There's nothing I'd rather listen too as work into the evening trying to save the world, 1 BTU at a time. Thank you, Elaine, tapers, and the Good Ol' Grateful Dead. FOREVER GRATEFUL🙏
We need a do over for this first ever US Blues! But seriously, a dynamite 3 set show . I also saw them play a 3 set show later in 1974. A great year indeed! Thanx Elaine!!
With Phil and Ned opening set? curious observations: first show of 74 opening with a debut, which later found its place closing the set. on the other hand, jack straw which usually opens, is in the middle of the 3 set. and must be roses, premiered in its "proper place"
@@eletricnaneland352 they played 3 sets on 7/31/74, with Phil and Ned set after set 2, in Hartford Ct.. Saw Phil and Ned 3 other times in 1974, all between sets 1 and 2. 1974, a great year for the boys! Have a fine weekend Elaine!!
Saw Phil and Ned 5 times in 1974. They played during the break between sets 1 and 2; except for a terrific 3 set show on 7/31. They came out between sets 2 and 3 and did their thing. Didn't do much for me. I thought it was unnecessary, just my opinion. Take care Elaine!!
Hey Now , I had cassette tapes of this show a long time ago and Wow what a set list all these songs were still being performed by the band until the end , Jerry’s sweet voice on Ship of Fools 🎸 Sail Away From Me !! Peace ☮ and be kind to everyone 😎🏄🏻♂🍄🌋🙏🐬🏖🐙🍺🎹🌺🌴🏝🤙
I love my AUD tapes from 74. Dont get me wrong the BOARDS are killer but most of my faves are audience. Best if I have both versions. Jali Hali Fronton aud tapes rule. Miami? 74. Let It Rock!
Love this era,- with the band hardly playing together so often that it was Keith keeping it together. Love the sound of that chaos. Thank you for this treat.
Thanks Elaine! It's a great way to every day be challenged at remembering where the band was offstage during a particular date that affected the energy of the show you present.
“Shucks, folks, twarn’t nothing.”😂 Or as Mr. Takei would say: “Oh Myyyyy!” Or as I would say: Full speed, Dead ahead!” Thanks, Elaine, this is most awesome.
i was there!! best era of the dead !!! Thank you! Is this the one where Nicky Hopkins came out and did "Edward the Mad Shirt Grinder" with the Dead?? Will listen more later have bookmarked.
Isn't this the 50th anniversary of the Wall of Sound? EDIT: The almost completed Wall of Sound. I think Reno NV was the final version. I know, I'm a geek. Love you all. Thanks Elaine.
Yes, Slipknot jam but not quite the Slipknot as it later evolved. There's another one in The Other One the next night (2/23). All three of these shows are just HUGE, as solid as any all through this great year, and, RELAXED, down home. GD for the ages.
End of an era caught for potential use in GD Movie. Jerry said by the time the movie came out they had moved on. May be drums in there but not listed. How many 3 set shows or even 2 that don;t have Drums.? As far as 1st US Blues, they'd been doing Wave that Flag for a long time.
Drums in the middle of the second set didn't start to become a regular feature until 1978. Before that, were often drum solos (or duos) -- the Dead were even known for it -- typically in That's It For The Other One or Good Lovin -- but they weren't a steady feature and weren't always in the 2nd set. US Blues is a revision and rewrite off Wave That Flag.
I was glad to hear US Blues as an opener, but I thought that Jerry was pretty F…CKED UP because he couldn’t rip those rhymes out too well,, then in the notes that this was the FIRST performance of that song!! TY ELAINE!! GREAT 3 SET SHOW, with UJB as an ENCORE!!🔥✨✨🔥
