I'm looking forward to how this mission-based cooperative angle can be applied to other traditional games. How about a word-based game where players have to each contribute letter tiles to a word that is maybe the answer to a question or something.
Just ordered the game. I love spades and hearts so this should be great! Can you tell me about power grid? Is it better than ticket to ride? Even a similar game? Trying to decide between the two
Whoops! For the two-player game, each player has a hand of 13 cards, then you lay 7 cards face down and another 7 face up on top of them. Those 14 cards form a dummy hand that is played into tricks by the commander, with the commander also determining which tasks the dummy hand must complete. -WEM
If the commander has the rocket 4 in hand and the first mission is to allow the commander to win the trick, how couldn't he win the trick if he must have the rocket 4 card, the most powerful card, in order to be the commander?
Rockets are their own suit, so if the player with the target card also has a rocket, they must play that rocket in response to the rocket 4 being led, which means the commander must get the target card another way. -WEM

@@boardgamegeek Oh I see, and it can be a specially hard challenge if you also have a green 2 and a green 4 so that you cannot use your communication token to tell the crew - hey, I got the target card -. This lends to many possible home rules and variants.
@@pedro_navarro • You don't need home rules, though! All you need is experience playing the game to figure out how to maneuver past tricky situations. With practice, you learn how to anticipate who has which cards and play to help the right person win the card they need. Not always, but you can get better at it! -WEM
After the quarantine I can't wait to play this with my sister and my 80+ year old parents. I think we will love it.

After first trick is captured, the new trick is started by commander again?
No, the commander leads to the first trick, then whoever wins a trick leads to the next trick. -WEM
