      It was good. My pressure cooker completely obliterated the dry peas so I had a pea broth lol. I felt like I was in a 90s cartoon eating literal pea soup

    Glad I found you . I just started the Mediterranean diet but need low amount of fat and oils. Due to gallbladder removal. But I love split pea soup and will make this recipe. I’ve made it years ago but forgot and I want to use my new instant pot. Ty That’s the biggest onion I’ve ever seen lol

    I'm glad you are honest about the drawbacks of instant potting this soup. Obliteration of texture is an important point, as well as less time to develop flavor. You have not turned me into a vegan but I did subscribe.

    Thank you very much for the recipe! Just so you are aware, at the top of the recipe card on your website it says the Instant Pot cook time is 37 minutes, but lower on the page it says under Instant Pot Instructions to cook it for 15 minutes before letting the pressure naturally release for 15 minutes.

    Thanks for the recipe. I like your style. Just trying to eat less meat in a house where the hubby is a "meat and potatoes" guy. I have made this with a ham bone but plan to make it vegan to see what happens. Also, I have to eliminate onions and garlic. I love 'em but they don't love me!

    I was wondering what size of instant pot you have?

  • @wolin289
    @wolin289 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I just put mine in the instant pot. All I had were red onions, so I hope that will be okay. I'm going to let it vent naturally and then put it up for tomorrow and reheat what I need. I think I need to make some no-knead oil free bread to go with this.

    • @wolin289
      @wolin289 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      OMG, that soup is SO GOOD. The best I've ever tasted. The red onions paled in color, so they were just as good as white or yellow. It's so nice and thick. I put in 7 cups of veggie broth and it was perfectly thick, just the way I like it. Spices are perfect. I think it would be great to dehydrate that soup and take it backpacking. I put the salt in after it was done cooking. For some reason the Instant Pot cooks better if the salt is added after cooking. No knead bread is rising now.

    • @PlantsNotPlastic
      @PlantsNotPlastic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! I'm so glad you loved it! I always add salt at the table rather than during cooking (unless I'm baking) - I've noticed less goes further 😊

    It's easy. First time making split pea soup. Using veggie broth is more flavorful. I did half and half. Suggestion: throw out the table salt or use it for cleaning. I use Himalayan pink salt. 💗

    I’m doing this soup now in the Instantpot :) how many servings did you consider on the nutritional information? Thanks,

    • @PlantsNotPlastic
      @PlantsNotPlastic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It makes 9.5 cups. I try not to do servings because “a serving” is usually just made up! But between my husband and I we usually eat this alongside some whole wheat bread and it last for 1.5-2 meals ☺️
