The entire God Of War series (including the new ones) has a very very special place in my heart. I would have loved them anyway, but I played God Of War with my dad growing up, and at the time my dad was a very angry man and far from a great parent. He hit absolute rock bottom, basically ruining everything in his life. Then, around 2016 he started turning it all around, and became a fantastic father that I could truly be proud of. Hes now calm and collected, working hard to keep things stable for his new family (im an adult now and he remarried and has another daughter) Its crazy how the game I used to play with my dad, mirrored his life so well.

My favorite thing about GOW 3 has to be the enemy designs. These are definitely some of the most badass interpretations of classical creatures from Greek Mythology, and they feel so much more threatening and intimidating than in other games. Sure, the enemy designs in GOW have always been great, but thanks to GOW 3's updated graphics, it gave these creatures a lot more visual polish and allowed them to really stand out compared to before, with the Chimeras being a personal favorite of mine.
@@vlad_47 Oh yeah, I know that most enemies retain the same general design throughout the games, I just mean in terms of visual appearance, the enemies of GOW 3 look a lot more detailed and polished compared to previous games. For example, Centaurs in GOW 1 looked pretty blocky and awkward, but in GOW 3, they certainly look a lot cooler and more imposing. Makes sense given that it's on a more powerful console, but I still appreciate the visual upgrades to the enemy designs regardless.

@@lazerfrogstudios most games are just you going around killing people and being framed as the good guy. Hence to me it stood out that in GoW the gameplay is lore accurate. To put it differently, it was the first game I played where they let you play as the antagonist in a literal sense
Kratos was willing to leave Hermes alone and gone on with his quest to beat Zeus but Hermes had to screw around and found out in brutal fashion. Kratos was the villain who was willing to destroy the world just to fight Zeus aka killing gods and the consequences the world suffers from their deaths. The gameplay, the aesthetics, the storyline, music and world building is top notch in setting up the finale of the Greek Saga.

Our first time playing GOW 3 was a round with 6 men in a room and one goal - to enjoy the game to the fullest. Halfway through the game we were no longer arguing about who was allowed to play, but rather who had to. Basically it was a damn long movie. A damn good movie. What a game!
I REALLY enjoyed this video. I love God of War and have since it first came out way back when. I even have 2 God of War tattoos with plans to turn one of them into a much larger piece. I love the old and the new, though to be perfectly honest, I love the original games so much more than the new series. It's perhaps the finest example of Greek tragedy we have in our modern landscape and I never understand when people say the Norse saga has more story and depth. My first God of War game was on PSP, I was way too young so I don't remember it much. A couple of weeks ago I started playing God of War 2018 and it sucked me in like a black hole, now I am fully invested in this universe and its characters. I've decided I need to know everything and play all the games. This game feels like it should've been a part of my childhood, instant favourite for me. I now see where the Jedi Fallen order/survivor games got their inspiration from.

There is so much great hack & slash games like DMC, Onimusha, Darksiders, Castlevania LoS trilogy etc. But GoW is another level for gaming. Especially GoW 3, newer GoW games have better graphic and they are bigger games, but no new game will top GoW 3 in terms of gameplay, atmosphere, pacing and Boss fights. Let's hope for new GoW games will back to it's roots of faster pacing and gameplay.

This Game is my favorite in the series for sure and I've been playing this game/series for many years, but the little details you mentioned at the end of the video is impressive and I've never gave those things another look even after my very first initial play though. Good Job and Great Video!
As someone who skipped the PS2 and PS3 games, I really enjoyed GOW3. I played it after GOW4 and still found it very fun and it still holds up, something I cannot say for 90% of the ps3 era games.
Gow 2 had the perfect gameplay, controlling Pegasus fighting in the sky and defeating the sisters of fate will never not be epic A remake would be welcome on so many levels

I loved God of War 3 as a kid because of its combat and unprecedented metal-ness. Our PS3 is broken now after more than a decade, but watching your video makes me want to find a way to play GOW3 again. The game is ageless at this point. It truly *is* a masterpiece.

Finally early to the GOAT of God of war. Replaying 1 after work today gentlemen started it last night and was too tired. God of war is peak fiction like berzerk.
I used to think to think this as a kid..and growing up playing this game I can see how it’s not really “appropriate” for a kid but I feel it’s been a blessing playing this as a kid I feel God was in it in some way shape or form.
One of the things gow3 did better than any game is sell the technical leap from the ps2 to the ps3. Even with ps4 and ps5 we dont get those WOW moments like we used to. Not to mention it was a game that didnt need to worry about diversity or cinematics or being offensive, it just did what it did and did it well 🔥
The first leap i remember was going to a parents friends house and seeing the first uncharted game, the wet leaves blew me away as i still only had the ps2
Me personally I like Ascension more because of the boss fights and sliding around random stuff. Those little quick time events where you grappled an enemy and had to dodge and attack it were also legendary.
About the circle thing: in the gow 2018, when kratos kills baldur, he says: „the circle ends here“. In gow2, when Zeus kills kratos at the beginning of the game, Zeus says the same to kratos. Just awesome

Gow3, will always have a special place in my heart, not for the reasons mentioned in the video though. When my dad first got me a ps4, he also bought a game in it for me to play, it was Gow3. My dad had given my 11 year old self a brutal game like gow3, so this game has a special place in my heart.

God of War 3 in my opinion is the peak of action games. Everything from the music, the story, the gameplay, the visuals, all scream epic and satisfying. I enjoyed the Norse era games for they were but to me the series never got better than this.
Ever since I was 4, my favorite games have been god of war 1 and 2. To this day, God of war 2 is still my favorite game, though I only like it more than 3 because of nostalgia. How is your play style? Is it combo focused? As in, combo mad stuff? Do you like to use attacks that deal heavy damage?
@@ExtremeGameplays1 I try to be as efficient as possible while also experimenting. I definitely like to be stylish when doing combos. I played the first GoW in 2005 but I didn't get into it for some reason. GoW always seemed to be more about big crowd control and less sophisticated combos than DMC, IMO. However, after playing GoW2018 and Ragnarok, I kind of wanted to play the originals that are more action focused. From your footage, it does seem like GoW has good variety and Kratos seems like a fun power trip. At some point I need to investigate the OG trilogy for myself.
@@FirstPlace97 It's not about combos tho. The more you focus on efficiency, the better. The og GoW trilogy shines in this aspect. It's not just combos. You will get good enough at some point to combo, but it's not the be all and all. There's a lot to scratch regarding the games you mentioned. They're deep and layered with gameplay depth. Do you do challenge runs? Those help BIG TIME in making you even more and more familiar with your favorite games.

Whenever they do a proper port of 1 and 2, I'll see about starting GoW from the beginning. Been wanting to play them ever since Ragnarok reminded me of how much better traditional action game design is. They look fun. I just never thought I'd need to get into the series since I had my DMC. I'm much more open into trying the rest of the genre. Action game fans are rare these days.
GOW 3 I can’t stressed it enough, it’s a PHENOMENAL PHENOMENAL game. The EPICNESS, the conclusion story to put things to put it end of the Greek saga, the memorable legendary quotes, the gameplay. Definitely one of my top 3 games of all time next to GOW 2018 and RAGNAROK.

GOW3 is basically what happens when a bad man is seeking redemption and help for his PTSD, is denied both and given something he never wanted instead, and his depression for his situation turns into an all consuming hatred. It also has to make me wonder; Kratos never had the visions of his wife and child’s death taken from him. By the time GOW4 happens, he seems calmer and more stoic, but is he still haunted by those visions or have they dulled over time and been replaced by visions of the pantheon’s ghosts?
What are the names of the jazz songs you used in the background? I really liked the way they sound, especially the trumpet solo that goes off as Kratos looks upon the wasteland he created.

As someone who skipped the PS2 and PS3 games, I really enjoyed GOW3. I played it after GOW4 and still found it very fun and it still holds up, something I cannot say for 90% of the ps3 era games.

Gow 2 had the perfect gameplay, controlling Pegasus fighting in the sky and defeating the sisters of fate will never not be epic

One of the things gow3 did better than any game is sell the technical leap from the ps2 to the ps3. Even with ps4 and ps5 we dont get those WOW moments like we used to.
Not to mention it was a game that didnt need to worry about diversity or cinematics or being offensive, it just did what it did and did it well 🔥

Me personally I like Ascension more because of the boss fights and sliding around random stuff. Those little quick time events where you grappled an enemy and had to dodge and attack it were also legendary.

About the circle thing: in the gow 2018, when kratos kills baldur, he says: „the circle ends here“. In gow2, when Zeus kills kratos at the beginning of the game, Zeus says the same to kratos. Just awesome

Can't believe I finished this game and missed this much. 2 was my favorite but now I'm not so sure. I really miss the old GOW, never been interested in the new gameplay style and never got the new ones. I clicked on this video with raised eyebrows but now, my mouth is stuck wide open. Considering the old collection now.

Gow3, will always have a special place in my heart, not for the reasons mentioned in the video though. When my dad first got me a ps4, he also bought a game in it for me to play, it was Gow3. My dad had given my 11 year old self a brutal game like gow3, so this game has a special place in my heart.

played new GOW and i wasn't fan of how slow it was 50% in and i was thinking how much longer but GOW3 is just action action action loved it
God of War 3 in my opinion is the peak of action games. Everything from the music, the story, the gameplay, the visuals, all scream epic and satisfying. I enjoyed the Norse era games for they were but to me the series never got better than this.

Ever since I was 4, my favorite games have been god of war 1 and 2. To this day, God of war 2 is still my favorite game, though I only like it more than 3 because of nostalgia. (The is much better and more fluid game. Best Greek GOW) I'm so happy I found your channel. I found your channel when you first released the GOW Iceberg. Keep up the amazing work! I am not a big fan of God of War games (I am a DMC, Bayo, NG fan), but you make a strong case for why these games are fun to play. I think you glaze them a little too much; however, I really enjoy your passion talking about why you enjoy them so much! You will definitely influence more gamers to try the old series out. @@ExtremeGameplays1 I try to be as efficient as possible while also experimenting. I definitely like to be stylish when doing combos.
I played the first GoW in 2005 but I didn't get into it for some reason. GoW always seemed to be more about big crowd control and less sophisticated combos than DMC, IMO. However, after playing GoW2018 and Ragnarok, I kind of wanted to play the originals that are more action focused.
From your footage, it does seem like GoW has good variety and Kratos seems like a fun power trip. At some point I need to investigate the OG trilogy for myself.
@@FirstPlace97 It's not about combos tho. The more you focus on efficiency, the better. The og GoW trilogy shines in this aspect. It's not just combos. You will get good enough at some point to combo, but it's not the be all and all.
There's a lot to scratch regarding the games you mentioned. They're deep and layered with gameplay depth. Do you do challenge runs? Those help BIG TIME in making you even more and more familiar with your favorite games.

Whenever they do a proper port of 1 and 2, I'll see about starting GoW from the beginning. Been wanting to play them ever since Ragnarok reminded me of how much better traditional action game design is.
They look fun. I just never thought I'd need to get into the series since I had my DMC. I'm much more open into trying the rest of the genre. Action game fans are rare these days.

GOW 3 I can’t stressed it enough, it’s a PHENOMENAL PHENOMENAL game. The EPICNESS, the conclusion story to put things to put it end of the Greek saga, the memorable legendary quotes, the gameplay. Definitely one of my top 3 games of all time next to GOW 2018 and RAGNAROK.

I can't choose if gow 2 or 3 is my favorite of all time, i loved both of them alot.
Personally I believe God of War 2 is the best video game of all time but 3 is definitely a one of a kind.
GOW3 is basically what happens when a bad man is seeking redemption and help for his PTSD, is denied both and given something he never wanted instead, and his depression for his situation turns into an all consuming hatred. It also has to make me wonder; Kratos never had the visions of his wife and child’s death taken from him. By the time GOW4 happens, he seems calmer and more stoic, but is he still haunted by those visions or have they dulled over time and been replaced by visions of the pantheon’s ghosts?
