I kinda miss my old fuel oil furnace, you don't see too many in the southeast. Mine was way older than these, furnace installed in 1958 when the house was built, burner unit was replaced sometime in the 70's, stack heat sensor went bad right after I moved in the house in 2003 and the one the guy at Granger handed me as a replacement looked like it had been on the shelf since the 60's ( it was that old hospital green color) other than having to keep the nozzle cleaned, the burner and blower motors lubricated and the fuel filter changed the krusty old gal never gave any trouble even with me pouring old trans fluid and motor oil mixed with auto diesel in the tank and running her off that! I have little doubt that thing is probably still running today.
Hello from Baltimore MD ☺️. Steve I like your crazy sayings. I had a tenant with a kitchen faucet that leaked, I said "She's a leaker momma, she's a leaker" and the tenant laughed😀
I remember you going there before. I fired customers like that. $5.00@gallon fuel oil and he is burning it in that shit. Might as well set fire to it in a pail. I feel your pain. They wouldn’t insure you if that iron was in your basement.
Here in California, we don't have too many oil furnaces anymore. But I have had to work on a few. One of them was choked up with coke (flame too rich). It was ridiculous. The furnace belonged to my boss. I was designing and manufacturing lumber dehumidifier kiln dehumidifier at the time. I almost couldn't believe his furnace was burning oil (diesel fuel). I guess oil furnaces are more common on the east coast. Here in California, the majority of furnaces burn natural gas. I love your videos, BTW.
I enjoy your videos Steve. Not an HVAC guy. But, a mechanic. I quit working on a lot of customer cars that don't maintain them properly. I can't tell you how many times people will bring me a vehicle that needs service after waiting years I've worked on previously. Told them what's needs to be done depending on their mileage driven, etc. I warn them of the 4 "F's". Fluid's, Filters, Frequently or F'd! Just had a customer yesterday with class A, RV. 111K on the clock. No start issue. All cables original. Told him green cables needed changing first and all body, engine grounds checked and cleaned. 2000 model, second owner. Asked about fluids....No record to his knowledge? He's going on a 2K trip next month. I warned him? People complain about the money to maintain vehicles and mostly brush it off till it's too late.🙄. Then they want miracle work? How you say, "Giv'em the ole, how ya doing! 😆 Anyway, you know the deal🙄 Thanks for the videos!👍
My coworker told me that when he was in college, he had to choose between food and fuel oil. Biden just can’t give up on his green agenda. Democrats would rather see Americans go cold and hungry than allow a Canadian pipeline or allow drilling and fracking.
@@picklerix6162 Anybody catch his speech on banning Russian oil? He said the outrageous prices were a good thing to force people to buy electric cars. Total insanity.
Yeah, I got an oil delivery today. Driver cool guy, ex-Marine. He said customers are trying to get HIM to give them a break on the price. He has to explain: "I am sympathetic, but I have no control over the price!"
@6:18 It looks like the ports in that filter housing need more cleaning. It should be gushing out. I bet the bottom of that tank has several inches of sludge. Not easy to service an old neglected fuel system. You did the best you could without replacing just about everything. She sure is a crusty one Mr. Grinch..!
I remember seeing videos of these units. Leakham boiler with Webster pump and Wayne burner. Other boiler with a beer can in place of the sight glass. They are definitely crusty ones Mr Grinch. Would like to have that account because I bet it's high volume with that old junk. Of course now even with auto fills we are doing just 100 gallons at the time due to the price. Give someone a $1,200 bill and they might take till next fall to pay. All will call customers have to pre pay for delivery.
2 issues: 1. If that old system was in your basement they wouldn't insure you. They would want you to upgrade. 2. The lady upstairs can't sit still. Clacking of heels drove me nuts.

The bird may have flown in through the air vents and then can't find the way back out. They panic, slam into a wall, and fall to the ground unfortunately, unable to get back outside.
If you want to lose a customer, just raise your prices. With this guy, you could have a surcharge for working on obsolete equipment. When you charge more and he keeps you anyway, at least you'll get paid for the aggravation.
He's not going to change them until they completely fail, then it will be an emergency replacement. Should tell the guy, emergency replacements cost more than a planned replacement. Sometimes it doesnt pay to be tighter than two coats of paint. 💸 💸 💸 💸 💸

#2 Home heating oil hit $5.29 per gallon here in NW PA today - thanks Joe.
Let's Go Brandon !
Putin going after little crack head Joe. Joe had to cancel the pipeline and open the back door for his pocket.

There are a lot of people who don't have the money, and with the price of fuel for heat, it's only going to get worse!

Good job Steve.
Good day Steve and Molly
Most likely you will get the job putting in new boilers soon because you are their go to technician.
That's an ancient burner On that unit. Steve is that an unprotected line on there ?
Hey, that's how I do a marathon. One can kick at a time!
Hello Steve and miss Molly
No oil heat in this area for a few decades now natural gas and propane in the rural areas

Hello Steve!
Haha a gas fired water heater, but no gas. Crazy
That last boiler looked like the one I had in wakefield ma.
Didn’t this boiler have a leak and it was leaking into that pit?
The poor petrified bird, lol!
Holy crap he broke out the Mitco Jigga pump. Not too often do you see techs with that expensive piece.
Why replace it, if you keep it running.
If oil prices go as high as I think, it would probably pay Him to buy a new tank if that one is leaking.
How much does it cost to fill that tank man.. Not good times right now.
How. Are. U. Doing. Today steve
Why should he replace the whole system if you or someone else can keep it going? You get paid for labor and parts, right?
A Pre-Covid Bird Mama !
That might as well be a timex boiler. Takes a likin and keeps on ticken
Everything is old here and in bad shape, how the furnace is running with this condition, i wonder .
That dead bird is crustier than ever! 😆
You should put that dead bird in a paper towel and tell him here's the problem 😅🤣
Steve what does the 75 by 70 mean- I know nothing about oil burners- we have furnaces here, thanks Bub61- great watching you!
The first number is the Gallons per hour. The second number is the spray angle
@@lordgilby and to clarify, it’s .75 (3/4) of a gallon an hour.
@@erikj.2066 yeah 75 gph would be quite the boiler
Do you refurbish the old Nozzle? Or chuck it in the fu&k it bucket?
This last time you go... If no new system, you will charge him service call to not work on them.
Jed Clampett would keep them going forever.
Are you doing Steve

Frigging boilers from the Titanic.. Probably with the conversion kits from coal.
I bet mr cheap po still has his recess money from grade school
Looks like a gas water heater next to oil boilers???
Tighter than 3 coats of oil mama
Wow, time capsule found
You must have a CO2 cartridge
Why would you wear gloves. I don’t understand why you wear gloves. Next Level!!
Time for an upgrade.
Hey Steve, I have a few of those (D) controls (used) if you should need one in a pinch sometime, let me know, I'll send to you.

"You figure a fuckin insurance guy would know better"... do as I say, not as I do
hahahahahaha the dead bird is still there? I guess it is a symbol of the condition of the boiler.
Old stuff but you did it. Charge a little more or pull out your tablet in front of him. Lololol
Gas is the way to go. There is a gas hot water heater
another good video Steve...just one question why are you wearing gloves? (just kidding)
That is the worst thing you could do to your oil burner.
I live in ks its all natural gas or electric and my gas bill tripled its obscene i wonder how the people making 12.00 hr are making it
