Will always be a big fan of Gus, he was the coach during my time at Auburn and it felt like his ceiling was always really high but the floor was lower than it should’ve been. Really wish we kept him into the NIL era at the very least because he was good at building rosters via transfers and it’s only been ramped up since.

Good interview. Should have asked him how much the rule changes after 2013 impacted his play calling

Malzahn’s biggest problem is he doesn’t believe in recruiting elite offensive linemen. He thinks you can plug anyone in along the o line . It will be his downfall at ucf like it was at auburn.

He could plug anyone in along the o line and he always had a great running game and always won most games. Since Gus left they can’t run and lose more games than they win. He got linemen that he wanted that were lighter and more athletic instead of bigger stronger linemen.

@@lucio989in 8 years he lost 4+ games every year. Take away the first season and he’s an average 6-7 win coach per year guy. That’s not good at auburn. 2020- 6 -4

@@jakepadgett5569 that’s fine. He won the division 2 times and would have won the conference 2 times if not for an injury to kerryon and that is at the height that any conference will ever be. It was only gonna get easier and easier and yet since he left, losing record, losing record, losing record. Gus was 3-4 against saban. Imagine how good he’d be against deboer.

@@lucio989he won the SEC one time in his first year. I love Gus more than anyone he was my hero as a kid but it’s true, any Auburn fan will tell you, our o line was always trash. Just go look at 247 for yourself and see we had one 5 star o-linemen in his tenure and he was trash. Bo nix was sacked more than any SEC quarterback every year at Auburn. There was always high hope every year but we always fizzled out and became slightly above average SEC team.

@@lucio989and making the worst hire in Auburn history with Bryan Harsin is why our record is trash. He left Hugh Freeze with barely any talent. Come back to me in 3 years and if we still suck you were right but I highly doubt Hugh freeze’s tenure is gonna go the way Gus’ did.

OLine and development killed his career in the SEC... he could recruit talent but couldn't develop that and his record proves such.... thats facts you can take to the bank
