We need you back. You guys did something amazing that was never appreciated on the scale it should have. Football games don't even try to incorporate an ounce of the depth you guys created. I haven't played a football game since 2018 and probably never will again because they absolutely stink these days.
Madden 11 was pretty good too. Refs on the field, fighting for the fumble, create a team, virtual trainer, A FULL off season, meeting with Obama after the super bowl, Gus Johnson and Chris Collingsworth, relevant stats snap to throw etc, Coin toss, and many more. It was like EA knew people wanted alot of different things out of the game, so they included all of it they could.
I played the first NFL Head Coach and it felt really hit and miss. Never played this version as due to personal reasons I was away for gaming for a while. But I'm blown away by how much they revamped from the original NFL Head Coach, the two games don't even resemble each other!
This game was amazing. I wouldn’t say it’s for your casual football fan. A lot of work but very very rewarding. Since you can’t control the on the field action it makes it that much more fun (when you get the W) 😂
“Think of something like football manager, but with fully rendered on the field action” Sooo… football manager? lol. Seriously though, this game looks like something I’d love, I wish there was some modern iteration of it.
It was awesome. Before having kids, I'd spend hours playing this. I kind of wish they'd split Madden up; one half would be the Franchise/Head Coach games, the other the MUT/Yard/FotF stuff. I'd bring the old developers back for Franchis/HC, or (more likely) let some more competent developers make it.
Well no, Football Manager doesn’t have realistic on field action with up to date graphics, Head Coach 09 had those things. The graphics were pulled right out of that year’s Madden and the on field action was somewhat more realistic
The NFL Head Coach series was ahead of its time, foreshadowing sports management games like Football Manager and Out Of The Park Baseball. I think a revival of the series could be quite successful, at least on PC.
FM was popular way before this, and as its previous incarnation as Championship Manager (I played 97/98 a lot back when). I'm sad the NFL equivalents never really took off, actually kinda surprised given the convo I see online around things like roster construction and salary cap management, but I guess it's a relative minority. I had this on the 20th Anniversary Edition when it first came out and enjoyed it for what it was. The on the field stuff is what drove me bananas. Sometimes players would just randomly go in another direction that made no sense. After the 15th time watching that happen I went back to Madden 09. Off the field is certainly where this game shines. If you can look past what happens on the field this game can be an incredible experience. Unfortunately for me I just couldn't lol
I loved the depth of this game. Weird thing where like 60% of my plays had less than 3 yards and 40% of them went for 80 yard touchdowns. Could've been way better if the sim stuff made more sense
That's not abnormal, though, especially in that era of the game. Most plays set up other plays; think running an inside zone run, to an outside zone run from the same look. Neither play may average more than 3-5 yards a play, but when you run the play-action pass from that same look, if you sell it well it'll hit for a big gain.
@@justinblair9661 naw it was super disturbing. I was a Hawks fan. We weren't the modern chiefs we had no one who could do that. You'd expect if it were realistic that a season might have 200-300 first downs and 0-2 80 yard touchdowns. Not like 100 of each. Then the QB has like 50% completion but 20 yards per attempt. The defensive pursuit was off and not even in a Madden way they just took the wrong angles and wouldn't hit people.
