    My feedback for this video: i wanted to hear someone using the straw and phonating. I'm sure everyone would want to hear how the straw sounds like and what tonal differences does it apply to someone that has a strained voice or uneven vocal cord movement.

      Grab a straw, any straw and do it. sing or hum anything even ur fav songs. in a minute of two u can sing without straw n u'll see hella difference. i bought a stainless steel straw and btw ive had voice crack and low vocal compression issue since puberty n always did vocal training a lot, this is most efficient n easy way.

    The problem with this explanation is that it gives no reason why vocal improvement would continue after you stop using the straw. If the increased pressure from the straw is what creates the improvement, then why would the improvement last?

      @@henrik4835 A voice therapist told me that the straw phonation also releases tension in the vocal apparatus. I haven't fact checked this, but if true, then the release in tension would be a benefit that lasts longer!

      @@user__214 OK since I have done this for 2 days and its really working but I have to do it 1-3 times a day. Im wondering if I use it everyday for 3 months if I dont have to use it that much, almost like a muscle to train to grow. Because after 4 hours my voice returns back to the higher Pitch voice.

    Great animation and good basic explanation. My one comment, because I catch myself stumbling on the same thing sometimes when the word "folds" follows "vocal," is that the voiceover says vocal "fords" several times rather than vocal "folds."

    I suffer from LPR, will the strasw phonation exercises be helpful?

    • @chad3358
      @chad3358 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If by LPR you mean Laryngopharyngeal Reflux, then the main problem you first have to sort out is getting your reflux under control. When somebody has LPR the vocal cords are being burned by acid and they are delicate tissue and will need to heal. This straw method is to relax the vocal cords and the surrounding musculature and is only part of Resonant Voice therapy. You will continue to have problems with your voice if you can't manage to reduce the reflux. Diet, behaviour, medication, and lifestyle changes can greatly reduce your LPR and thus reduce the damage to your vocal cords. Once that is sorted out the straw method can be a step towards getting back towards a more relaxed and natural sounding voice after the trauma from LPR. Contact your local Speech-Language Pathologist or talk to your doctor about LPR management. Also you can achieve the same therapy by using a regular straw you find at the store, there is very little need to buy this special "voice straw", they're just trying to make a buck.
