I’ve seen a lot of their tours, but as of right now, this one still has to be my favorite. There’s just this raw, unpolished, almost rough quality to it. The way the visuals are so jagged and sharp, but also flashing sporadically and crazily, it all adds to this atmosphere I interpret. Not just the visuals, but also the music, the way it’s so chaotic and can sometimes feel like it’s everywhere at once. It also has some of my favorite songs (the entire first 30 minutes is just straight bangers)
The live audio at the Hordern show was phenomenal; they utilized a quadraphonic soundsystem; felt like my hand was merging with the rail I was holding onto . . .
There's been an obvious, multiple decades long consensus that quadraphonics are the superior listening experience, but supposedly, home stereo manufacturers (when they were standard back in the 80s) didn't see a viable market for the cost of systems that ran through 4 speakers, so they reverted to stereo and later, as was planned I assume, everything went digital and compact or portable to accomdate future downloads, headphones, and the shitty economy forcing most people into condensed apartment/rental living. Surroundsound was basically their consolation prize and red herring for fucking our lives and keeping us packed into or near urban areas, under control. They knew social cohesion was being deliberately eroded with the intentional degradation of more traditional, healthy family structure aa well, so the industry planned on catering to a dysfunctional population of emotionally, morally and socially stunted individuals from broken homes, people who weren't anticipated to maintain relationships or community, isolated and fucking with their loopers instead of partying and establishing working collaborative musical projects. The fuckers on top and throughout ended talented, lasting musical bands along with ending quadraohonics. The two were connected on a societal scale, via social engineering, and here we are with artists who can't keep friendships, romantic relationships, social circles or bands together and everyone has been conditioned along the way, using the transition of generations, to accept mp3, downloads/streaming, and wirelrss ear buds as normalized, when really it's all a faux-advancement of tech that young people are too detached from previous generations not to see as favorable. It isn't. Convenience and the hipsterism of owning updated tech has surmounted quality, as planned. Meanwhile, talent has dwindled drastically and the functional social capacity to create together and even relate to one another went down the shitter simultaneously, just as gradually, but also suddenly (in the bigger picture, if you pull upwards and look back at it over a few decades or more). People who own loud home stereos own houses and are considered audiophiles. The average person typically used to have one in their living room, not just the upperclass. We had healthier friendships too, so parties were common and the loud volume was appropriate, shared between us as a community. No more. Bye bye. Jack off with your DAW and samplers. Obey the illusory freedom. Everyone's a lonely one-man music production studio with vapid total shit as the usual result. Formulaic and sterile. Listen to it on your ear buds walking to your unfullfilling jobs. Keep your mouth shut if your mind wanders. Anyway, quadraphonics are lit and Pink Floyd instruduced the first large scale use of them, live, with a device that one of their tech crew invented called the Azimuth Coordinator.
I saw Chemical Bros on tour in 02 when they had a one night only with Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and Digweed. One of the most insanely good concerts in my life!
I don't know about the rest of y'all, but this particular performance of Hoops gets me every time. It's the perfect mix of chaos, urgency, and purpose.
Watching ahead of tonight's 4th Nov 23 show at the O2. The old stuff is the best stuff ❤❤❤. I've utterly lost count how many times I've seen Tom and Ed since their 2nd ever show in 1995 (supporting the Prodigy at Brixton Academy that December). 50+ 60+ who knows!
Omg, those versions of The Test & Star Guitar... finally good footage from their Come With Tour, thanks so much. I'm such a fan of Come With Us and The Test and wished they would play them again more often. Thanks so much for this upload!
Saw them about 3 days after this recording at oxegen festival in ireland. They played the sunset slot on the smaller outdoor stage after ian brown. I was licking my wounds for about 2 weeks after. Great memory :)
Believe me or not, I've seen them live three times and this one of those bands where live performance is ALWAYS much better and entertaining and energetic than listening to an album or even EP of crazy mixes... They are so strong live with all those wonderful visuals and really powerful DJ mix. Band of my life.
I clearly remember at Imola there was a couple preparing to do lines in the crowd, and my buddy (6' 1" 200 lbs) "accidentally" bumped into them and knocked all their cocaine to the ground. They turned around ready to kick his ass then saw he was not a guy to be messed with. So, they just shouted a whole lot of nothing. Beautiful.
What an incredible set, thanks for sharing. The version of STTS with the Leave Home sample (Well, Kraftwerk really) is excellent. Surprised to see a set without Chemical Beats in it, I thought it was a staple of their sets?
Yeah, STTS with leave home’s opening is something I did not know I needed, but I’m glad it exists. The mashups they do during their live shows always manage to be amazing, and I always find myself coming back to them.
I have listened to chemical brothers for years and saw them twice in 2016 and 19, but I think the live shows from 2002 to 2005 seem the best in my opinion
Lmao so I'm listening to this and then randomly at 57:19 I learn that this concert was being played on a radio station in Czech republic as a "christmas gift" xd.
Amazing! I was just about to watch them at a V Festival in the 90s but my ex husbands son (14) was tired so we had to leave! Gutted! Must see them.....love them!
The best tours that I have ever seen belong to my two favourite bands from the same year: The Chemical Brothers - come with us tour (2002) and Slipknot - Iowa World Tour (2002)
I wish there was some way I could tell them directly how amazing they are. OOOH my god! fuckin adverts! Sorry but typing this live on the best mushrooms I've ever had. 15 mins in and can't wait for It doesn't matter...I know it's coming!!
I would like to know what here is actually live. I kind of have the feeling the setup is just a studio track mixed with effects. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I was there in Indio, CA @ Coachella '02.... amazing live
Words literally can’t freaking describe how much I love everything about this.

@@semisemicoloncolon agree, and this under the influence version is just something
One of the best concerts that i've been, the combination the sound and visuals was amazing!!! Mexico, Toreo de Cuatro Caminos 2002
The live audio at the Hordern show was phenomenal; they utilized a quadraphonic soundsystem; felt like my hand was merging with the rail I was holding onto . . .
Was at this same show as you...and I agree, I've seen them live 2 times after this, but the sound and experience was never really matched
was front row, changed my life

Na jakem eventu jste byl? Ja jsem tehdy delal zvuk v české republice a o quadrofonnim zvuku se tady nevi mozna dodnes :D
I can’t believe they’ve been performing this level of excellence for 20 years now 😂 quite a testament!
More like 30! The masters of their craft
Nobody compares to the brothers
I saw Chemical Bros on tour in 02 when they had a one night only with Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and Digweed. One of the most insanely good concerts in my life!
Wuuuuuuuuut? Holy Fuck, with Sasha and John????? I don't usually reply, or post anything anywhere, but that is absolutely incredible !!!! Cheers!
Legends. I miss the 90's so much.

Hoops and under the influence and hey boy hey girl and literally basically every song in this one, it’s best version is in this set

I saw this set live at Roskilde 2002 and it is the best live music experience I've had in my life to date. THANK YOU! ❤️
I was there too, right at the front! Unforgettable, life-affirming, biblical.
Chemical brothers for life❤️
Everything around this album just class they a pair of wizards!❤
Saw them about 3 days after this recording at oxegen festival in ireland. They played the sunset slot on the smaller outdoor stage after ian brown. I was licking my wounds for about 2 weeks after. Great memory :)

Great. I´m a live music video digger and never saw It began an Africa Live, Thanks a lot.
Me neither. First time saw I saw them live was in 2005 and didn't have it on their set list then. Underrated song.
I clearly remember at Imola there was a couple preparing to do lines in the crowd, and my buddy (6' 1" 200 lbs) "accidentally" bumped into them and knocked all their cocaine to the ground. obviously accidental from your mate but if murders are occurring size is irrigardless x
They never bettered this tour set. Hard, relentless overwhelming Bacchanalian madness. Saw it at V Festival.
This is amazing! Thank you for posting. This performance of The Sunshine Underground is insane! 🤩
2002? CARAJO! Velho pa caray, mas continua bom demais. Vida longa, Chemical Brothers!

Super tuto jsem slyšel na Vlastní Ušiska :-))
..Awesome Compilation/Mix -- Thanks!
I saw them 14 times since the 90's and the Come with us tour was the only time I have seen them performing live "It began in Afrika" what a shame! 😂
14 times? I'm jealous 😔
Yeah, it seems they don't play that song anymore :(
WOOOOOOOOW that is THE TRUE CHEMICAL BROTHERS !!! - thx so much for share 💪💪💪
Amazing! I was just about to watch them at a V Festival in the 90s but my ex husbands son (14) was tired so we had to leave! Gutted! Must see them.....love them!

Yes, it's still up on TH-cam, you should be able to find it easily
I would like to know what here is actually live. I kind of have the feeling the setup is just a studio track mixed with effects. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Most of the sequencing is prepared beforehand. The mixing, some one shot samples, synth and effect tweaks are done live
@@BenjiSBRK I’ve been watching your videos since 2009, from my old account.
