In 2020 we spent 6 weeks (Sept/Oct) in Greece (1 week on Naxos, 5 days on Santorini and 3 weeks on Crete, the rest in Athens) and loved every minute. I have really enjoyed your journey; it brings back fantastic memories. I hope you are going to Crete. It is magical and along with Naxos, my favourite place we visited. We are off to Italy (with 3 weeks in Sicily) in Sept. this year. I love following both of you and wish you continued safe and healthy travels.

The temple built in the sixth century BC has not yet collapsed, which shows that the construction technology at that time was very strong!
That old market is like a maze, if it were me, I would definitely get lost, and I might not be able to get out after three years of walking there!

I agree with the person that commented on the sea urchin spines that are in your foot.Sometimes they disolve over time but I wld go to a clinic and get them removed and get on some antibiotics. They do often lead to a nasty infection that will prevent you from walking if they burrow deeper.The spines do have a venom that causes inflammation.
Naxos is lovely.Have so enjoyed visiting all these Greek Islands with you guys!
It's protected because it's full of cedars, and cedars are very rare because they only grow on sand and very niche climate conditions, and they also grow very very slowly and reproduce very very slowly.

You need to pull the sea urchin pins out because the residual chemicals will keep causing pain and irritation.! Apply olive oil where the urchin pins are with a cotton ball for lubrication and use tweezers to pull it out. Or you can ask at the pharmacy. Best of luck! Fun fact: you can easily tell which sea urchins are male and which female: Female sea urchins like to put little pebbles or bits of seaweed on top of their shell to make themselves pretty.
Chris & Carol - when I saw the first mural, I recognized the artist skitsofrenis. We saw a lot of his work near Kalamata on our drive from Sparta. His work is amazing.
Next time you visit Greece visit the mainland too. Example Kalamata and Evia. Mainland Greece is beautifull too.

Where there are sea urchins are the clearest waters.
To remove the thorns from the sea urchins, simply spread with a cotton ball, olive oil in the area and rest for 2-3 hours. The thorns will be eliminated on their own!

Might be too late now but Skiathos in the Sporades (Northern Greece) is definitely worth visiting. A tiny island but lots of beautiful sandy beaches

Chris and Carol. So pleased you enjoyed Naxos. I've been to many Greek islands over the years and all have something special about them but Naxos, particularly so. I hope you get the chance to return again to explore some more of this island. I stayed on Naxos in 1988 on a beach, 7 km up the coast from Naxos town, in a bamboo teepee... for 2 months. Many "hippie" types spent the Summer there every year. There was a small village called Vivlos... inland from the beach, an hour walk into the hills. It was rural & undeveloped then. I wonder what it is like now? There was talk about a road being developed. I'm sure that changed the area a lot. Thank you for showing me the Naxos I never saw...

A tip for everyone when visiting greece and not organized beaches. Get a beach umbrella from some store. They may cost 10 to 20 euros

Guys first of all welcome to Greece. I hope you enjoy our beauties. I want to talk about prices. If you are considering this as cheap then maybe you should come to Greece some decades or even years ago. Prices in every term were way cheaper. From food, accommodation and ferry tickets to rent a car or motorcycle. Life was really good back then. We speak about the same amenities, warmer hospitality and more authentic greek experience at even more affordable prices. That's why Greek islands became a top class holiday destination.
You are such a cool, sweet , beautiful couple. Its a joy to see your videos. I am originally from Greece but have never been to Naxos . But you made it a definite consideration for the near future.

🌞Very beautiful location there in Naxos. the walking around looking for a beach reminds me if areas of California. Looks like a nice dry place. I really loved the artwork in the old hotel as well as those amazing walkways through the backstreets and alley ways of the city. Beautiful church near the castle, looks very Spanish. All the little shops as you wined through the alleys and just so much to see. A place you need to spend more time to enjoy the whole island. It was a very wonderful experience you had there in Naxos and the evening ended very nicely. Thank you for the fantastic trip around the island in your video. Thank you Chris and Carol⛲🌅

Should visit Rhodes. Their port is really beautiful, and super clean. If you like castles, you can also visit Lindos.
You have to go to Koufonisi while you are there! Best Greek islands, local top secret!! Very close to Naxos. Go to Italida beach, better than El Nido

We went to Naxos late spring 2019. We had a lovely time, beaches are very beautiful and the food was delicious. Great to see you guys also enjoyed, I don't understand when people say they don't like Naxos.

That abandoned complex was just the same when I was there, we actually camped a night right there behind the beach you were on.
Becareful with those sea urchin spikes in your foot .. I had this happen when I was on Antiparos at a remote beach and didn't realize I'd got spikes left in the outer heal put of my foot, became ill from the venom / poison which coursed a infection ( no energy / felt sick most of the time and sweating ).
I had to take antibiotics for 5 dys after they'd been removed.
Glad you enjoyed Naxos and I think you'll enjoy Mykonos also.
If you can .. try and do the day trip over to Delos ( you'll understand and see why if you do ).

Best of luck on Mykonos, just a friendly reminder, Mykonos is a notorious place for being expensive and ripoffs happening quite often so be careful with your restaurant choices, always learn prices before you eat in case you don't wanna find yourselfs paying 500 bucks for a dish!

Naxos is beautiful and not expensive island ... I had visited Naxos at 2017 and I had uploaded more than 1000 photos on Google maps and a lot of my videos here... Hawai Beach is awsome and at Alyko i had collected salt from the rocks 😀 You must visit Koufonisia it was beautiful too.. i wanded to visit Delos but i didn't make it... maybe next time . Thank you for your excellent video that make me remember my visit 👍👌😊😀☘

I was wondering when eating at a restaurant, is it customary to tip the waiter/waitress in all the countries you have been to? I heard that in Japan a tip at a restaurant is considered insulting. If you are interested about Greece no the tipping here isn't mandatory or we don't consider it as an insult. But it's very well appreciated by waiters because it's a bonus in their scanty wage.
You are not expected to tip anyone in Greece but you don't insult them if you do.

Every year this time there is mass of air that greeks call " meltemi" , it's akind of wind that blows from north , lasts until the end of September . It's needed cause it can get really hot in the summer , but from now on you will meet this weather all summer in the aegean islands .

Beautiful Island and surprisingly good prices too Chris, I am concerned about the Sea Urchins spines still in your foot. Infection can set in and be more difficult to remove. May not be hurting now but may do later. Am sure you capable and are aware, just needed to say as same thing happened to someone I know. 👍
