That one dot of white paint on his nose makes this painting if that was not there it would not be lifelike

Taking little details of old-master facture and trying to amalgamate them into your 'style' is a superficial and insipid method of approaching art. The same would hold true if you were a writer. Learning another's 'tricks' is second hand and always will be.

She started out being lucian.... Which is fine.. But now every-time another figurative artist comes out, she changes her work to move toward what they are doing. I've lost my faith in her 'creativity'. Perhaps it was never inside, but found elsewhere.

interesting observation. I kinda feel the same way with most artists these days, especially since the invention of social media, the pandering to trends these hipsters blindly follow is off the scale.. it's rare to find an artist who genuinely digs deep inside and produces raw original work.. everyone's a plagiarist.

I disagree. This type of painting comes from taking all of life’s contrasting feelings of being human and putting it down and leaving it there. I’ve been painting in a certain style for 15 years. When people mention my art reminds them of Lucian Freud or it looks like a man painted it, that’s their own opinion. I didn’t even know of Lucian Freud until I was already painting my pain from my soul for 7 years. People paint how they paint, that’s not what creativity is. Creativity is to create even when people say there can only be one Lucian Freud.

Is this yet another man speaking up , giving his truth about female bodies and how they age? How insightful of you.
