Let's write a "french fry"! (format: he // met her // at a location // he said // she said // he did // she did // conclusion). Write the first thing that pops into your head - I'LL GO FIRST: That guy you saw one time at Walmart...
That guy you saw one time at Walmart met Rachel Ray at the Burger King down the street. "I can't believe how many chicken nuggets I can get for $10!" The man exclaimed "Probably because they aren't actually chicken." Rachel Ray replied. Suddenly, the man stood from the table, flinging his tray across the restaurant. Rachel turned to face the camera hidden in the corner of the restaurant. "And that, my friends, is why Burger King chicken nuggets are NOT Delish"
That guy you saw one time at Walmart met Garfield at Waffle house near the news station. The guy questions "why are we at a Waffle house to begin with" while Garfield nonchalantly brings up " we are also right next to a news station what a coincidence" next thing they knew sirens go off rather not a hurrican siren but a tornado so they went inside of the Waffle house only to find it was closed. The Guy runs away from Garfield screaming to the top of his lungs and Garfield only sits down at the corner counting down the seconds before the tornado comes and swipes of the poor man and his chilli
Two days ago I woke up and wrote a 1200 word outline. Oyt of nowhere. I haven't done any writing in nearly two years. Sometimes something clicks, and everything falls into place. Other times, we just need a break to unwind or recharge. Writing is a journey. It has ups and downs. Ride the waves. Paddle through the troughs. Writing is life, and life is writing. Keep up the great work!
As someone who design her own cover, write them and format them, think you're amazing! Have you thought about do a video of how you design a book cover? I might do it soon!
Just one book written and self-published. Taking romance writing classes and a screenwriting class helped me immensely to figure out how to write a good story (along with reading a lot of the romance genre). The romance classes required submitting short pieces for class and teacher critique - perfect opportunity to start the novel I had in mind. Really tough part was reading the critiques from fellow students and teachers. Tougher was deciding what critique input was valid and what was not. Now four months since my novel was published, I am trying to figure out how to get the book noticed by people who aren't family/friends. It's a struggle. I have an idea for a second book - turning a secondary character in the first book into the heroine of the next book. But I don't have much more than who she is - story arc still eludes me. And I really want to generate a little more in sales on the current novel before investing time and money in a second book. With all that said, I enjoy your frank and interesting videos on your journey. Thank you.
It's cool you're thinking of turning a secondary character into a heroine for your next book! That can be a great way to expand the world and give a new perspective. Yeah critique can be tough when you're really emotionally invested. Congrats on publishing; marketing and creating awareness is definitely a struggle so many of us face. I do have some marketing tips out but plan on making more videos about the topic. Marketing by Shelby is another good channel to follow for author marketing advice.
First of all, CONGRATS ON GETTING MONETIZED ♥︎ I sat through one of those weird AI ads just for you lol I think every writer should take a solid 5 years off from writing. People who write every single day terrify me 😂 Your journey feels super relatable. Writing for 18(?) years sounds insane to me, but I imagine thats what it'll look like when I'm a full-time author! Thanks for sharing 🫶🏾
Thank you!! Lmao the AI ads are the WORST. Honestly, I think taking a big break made me more appreciative of all of the ideas I have now and I'm better at giving myself grace when I don't write for a few days or week because at least it's not another 5 years 😂 It sounds super insane to me too, but I guess when you start young, it goes by quick.
I actually found a playlist on TH-cam randomly recommended in my feed, it sparked an idea, and within like 8 months I wrote and published the first edition of Kingdom of Ash & Shadow (the 2nd edition took another 4 months or so to flesh out and re-release). Just jumped right back in 😂
A question for Series Vs Standalones. How is the worth of a standalone and a series when it comes to making the first book would you rather have a person find your books from a standalone to then go look at your other works or would you rather have them find you from a series to know there is more in the future if they want to say and wait?
Incomplete series are tough to market because there are people who won't read a series unless they can binge it, but I've seen a lot more people lately that are fine waiting for more books if they liked the ones that are out. That's a tough question! I'll answer it more in depth in another video, but I think I'd rather have them find the series because then you know they like that specific world and cast of characters. Versus with a standalone, they might like that story and resonate with something in there but not necessarily the series.
How do you stay motivated when drafting sequels (or even prequels) in a series? Standalones come very easy for me, but I sometimes have stories that end in cliffhangers and I want to know what will happen next! But I haven't successfully written a connected (even interconnected) sequel in about 8 years. I have one series in particular that I really want to finish the sequel for--in 2020, it was going to be a trilogy, then I thought it would only be one book, but it needs 2 for all the dots to connect and the story to come full circle. I have a few people who are still waiting to know what comes next, but I've been struggling. ♥
I think I stay motivated because I also want to know what happens LOL! Honestly, my characters are very persistent, and I keep getting sparks of inspiration and ideas for each of their stories. It helps me to write the scenes I'm most excited for and work outwardly from there to build the rest of the story. That's awesome that you've got some very loyal readers!
It’s NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) it’s and organization most known for setting up a challenge where you write a 50k word novel in November. But they’ve had some controversial stuff happen in their organization over the past couple years.

That's awesome!! It's the best feeling when something clicks. Very true, I don't think I could stop writing completely if I tried.

I love hearing about your authors journey!
As someone who design her own cover, write them and format them, think you're amazing! Have you thought about do a video of how you design a book cover? I might do it soon!

That's so awesome!!

@itslindseeey "at least it's not another 5 years" YOU'RE SO REAL FOR THAT 😂
I was just curious how you came back to writing after 5 years? Did you plan to write and publish right away? Or was it a slower process?
I actually found a playlist on TH-cam randomly recommended in my feed, it sparked an idea, and within like 8 months I wrote and published the first edition of Kingdom of Ash & Shadow (the 2nd edition took another 4 months or so to flesh out and re-release). Just jumped right back in 😂
sleep token level pining?? YES PLEASE!
I might be biased, but that’s the goal 🤌🏼
Im glad that your youtube channel is finally monetized and how far your channel has become
Thank you! It's so exciting to see the growth; thanks for being along for the ride.

Not book related and a bit random lol but can you introduce your dogs? 😂 every now and then a little head will pop up in a video and it’s very cute ❤
Oh my gosh yes, I'll totally introduce them!! I honestly didn't know if people would want to see them or if they were annoying/ distracting 😂😂
Never heard of nano-rhymo(?) not sure how to spell it
