- The Subaru Crosstrek is all new for 2024, and it takes the already successful formula and makes it even better. We were able to review the Subaru Crosstrek while on vacation, which allowed us to pack it full of belongings and drive it in a variety of conditions. As you can see in the review, the new Subaru Crosstrek is the kind of car that grows on you over time and reveals its best attributes in everyday use. The ride is good, the seats are fantastic (redesigned for 2024!), and the practicality is off the charts. The new Crosstrek is an evolution of a proven formula, and we found ourselves wondering if it's actually the best vehicle in the class. It's more versatile than the Mazda CX-30. It's better looking than either the Honda HR-V or Toyota Corolla Cross. It has the sure footedness of Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive system with the ground clearance of an SUV. There's not much the new Subaru Crosstrek can't do... except go fast. Performance is acceptable, but only just. Still, we came away mighty impressed with the new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, and we think you will, too. Thanks man. I test drove this a couple times trying to make my mind up. Have 1 kid and have been debating trading into one of these. I was curious how it actually seems when you’re tall, but my experience wasn’t terrible at all. Even with the driver seat set for me, I could sit in the back. Would I be able to do it for 6 hours? Prob not. But it’s a fun drive, and very straightforward. How was the stereo in the limited?
Not bad, certainly not bad for this class of vehicles. It's a surprisingly endearing little car that we enjoyed far more than we expected.
@@jax1079 thanks for responding. I’ve been debating hard between this and a cx-5. Both have some things that I really love, and some that I don’t. The cx5 has an awesome Bose system in the carbon edition - but the armrest placement and lack of wireless CarPlay is ehh.
The Subaru seemed to have a little more go with the 2.5 and they really thoughtfully placed everything in that car.
@@Quickjob519 Big fan of the CX-5. I'd take that over the Crosstrek. The drive is absolutely excellent. Getting the 2024 CX-5 Signature next week for testing, so stay tuned 😎

I can easily sit beside behind myself and I'm 5 ft 11 and a half it's just that people recline the seat back too much and that's an unsafe way to be in an accident
I'm glad Subaru has improved their seats in other models. The seats in my '15 WRX have a good design and allow me to do 3,000 mile road trips every couple years. Yes, Subaru's have basic interiors but a lot of my Subaru friends like that. Subaru's CVT is pretty damn good for what it is but try an emergency stop from 60 mph and try to go again. The CVT might not be able to get down to the 1st gear ratio and you'll feel like you're starting in 2nd. Subaru seems to under report their MPG. My '15 WRX has a highway EPA rating of 28 MPG but I can get 35 MPG if I go 60 mph on flat parts of my road trips, and that's with a Cobb Stage 1 tune. One of the selling points for me about Subaru are the structural and chassis aspects that allow for better performance but also better safety. My WRX was the middle car between two vehicles when the SUV behind me couldn't stop. I easily drove off after exchanging all the information with my rear crunched up to the rear glass and my front bumper messed up. I feel like the primary cost of a Subaru is in the chassis and powertrain. Also, running costs and replacement parts for a Subaru are so inexpensive.
Yeah, we get it now, the whole Subaru thing. It’s pretty awesome functional transportation. By the end of our time with it, we were super impressed. Thanks for adding some excellent info to the comments 👍🏻
I gather the seats were comfortable-very comfortable!
Could you comment re the leather seats: did they get very hot when the car was parked sitting in the sun; and did they breathe or were they a bit sweaty during extended driving?
I thought they were acceptable considering the Florida sun and the lack of active cooling

The HRV gets tremendously worse gas mileage has tremendously worse all-wheel drive and is tremendously slower And the Chevy Trax isn't all-wheel drive at all

This one was fully loaded, and it starts in the mid 20s. It’s fully in line with the competition when you look at the trims and options. Cars are freaking expensive these days.

Subaru is the only company that actually has all-wheel drive the all the other companies the computer reacts to the slipping and then it makes the wheel adjustments Subaru is powering all four wheels all the time

Not really, but it’s damn good for what it is. Never got the whole Subaru thing until I lived with one. If Megan didn’t think the Ascent was so fugly, it might be on her list, but alas… it is.

The Crosstrek or Subarus in general? The Crosstrek is generally listed as their most reliable model and is more reliable than industry average.
