KIOTI NX5510 Water in the Fuel! Draining the Fuel Filter

  • Kioti NX5510 Tractor - Water was in the diesel fuel I put in the tractor today. I couldn’t find a video specific to the Kioti NX5510 so I decided to make my own. DON’T JUDGE!!! Yes my tractor is dirty...I had been working all day with it, and well, I just didn’t have time to wash and was the tractor before shooting a video. Life goes on.
Another reason I wanted to make a video on tackling this issue of water in the fuel filter was to let the women out there know that even though sometimes our hands aren’t as strong as the guys’ hands are, or maybe we don’t know as much about the machines, we can still handle issues when they come up...so don’t be afraid to get in there and give it your best shot!
This Kioti NX5510 tractor is being rented from a friend at Gulf Coast Tractor Works to do some work around Heartstone Campground. Our tractor dying was not unexpected because it was so old, but it’s loss was a real handicap - our heartfelt thanks to John for bringing the tractor to Heartstone Campground so we could keep the place looking good through the stormy season!

Hey Gal, shur liked the "CPR on the tractor" comment. As for myself l thought l had the "energy crisses" solved 3 times in my life----yes was TRYING to Burn Water. That pesky water seems like it "hunts" diesel fuel. I like the dyed off-road fuel when l can get it, it immediately shows the separation line between the two fluids. Thanks for the great Video & happy safe tractoring .

I had water in fuel indicator on multiple times yesterday. Draining the fuel filter/separator (as shown here) had resolved earlier issues (our donkeys seem to have a fixation with working the fuel cap off by scratching - and always just before it rains), but this time it would only work for a short while or not at all - and there was no water visible in the fuel from the filter. I finally decided the sender unit must be bad, so replaced it (Ag-Central Co-op had one in stock, fortunately). Seems to have completely solved the problem.
I would not have thought such a simple sensor would fail, but if they didn’t fail I guess the Co-op wouldn’t stock them).
Oh, and the donkeys? Foiled a couple of years ago by switching to a locking fuel cap…

Good for you, next time you are over his way ,
Maybe swing by with a half dozen donuts at some cookies or even a handshake to show your appreciation.
You might just make his day like he made yours

Maybe next time: 1. Disconnect the wire. 2. Completely remove the filter from the tractor. 3. Dump the contents of the filter into a jar like you did. 4. Refill the filter with fresh diesel almost all the way to the top. 5. Re-screw the filter back onto the tractor. 6. Reconnect the wires. 7. Then use the manual pump to fill the filter the rest of the way. It shouldn’t take too many pumps to do this.

Hey there, when your tractor threw the light on, would it still start?? And if not did it at least turn over?? Or was she dead in the water when you turned the key??

Should atleast turn over, every time I’ve gotten the water in fuel light, it still turns on and runs, at most it’ll get put in limp mode, Atleast on the 4510.
