Actually, the truth may seem mundane to some, but if one notices, the legends refer to Medusa as Gorgo the Gorgon. She might actually be called Gorgo the Georgian, as the country of Georgia's name derives from the Persian "gurğān," meaning "land of the wolves." "Gurgan" is a variant spelling of Jurjan, son of Lud and grandson of Shem, who was the ancestor of the Iranian Gorgans. Gorgan is also a city in the Central District of Gorgan County, Golestan Province, Iran, where the Great Wall of Gorgan, a massive defensive fortification, is known as the "Red Snake." Medousa, better known as Medusa in English, is a figure deeply rooted in Greek mythology. The name Medousa (Μέδουσα) originates from the ancient Greek word μέδω (medo), which translates to "to guard or to govern." Essentially, she was seen as a guardian or protectress. The myth suggests that Perseus carried the head of his cousin Medusa's statue, which likely fell and broke during an earthquake, leaving only the head intact. He then bore it into battle as a talisman to ward off his foes. Research suggests that Medusa was a stone carver, which means "she turned men to stone" through her lifelike statues. Medusa is considered the granddaughter of the biblical Noah, through his descendants Phorcys and Keto "Ceto." It is believed that her expertise in Cyclopean masonry was inherited from Noah, whose lineage, including the descendants of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, is attributed with constructing the Pyramid of Giza and with Perseus, the founder of Mycenae (Perseid dynasty), and his connection to Cyclopean masonry, a type of stonework found in Mycenaean architecture characterized by massive limestone boulders, as per experts. Perseus, known as a direct descendant of Shem, also referred to as Zeus, is simply a variant spelling of ParZeus. Shem, Noah's son, is the progenitor of the Parsuash tribe, which is synonymous with the ancient Persians. Madai, another son of Japheth, is the forebear of both the Persians and the Iranian Medes. Perseus's marriage to Andromeda, whose name has various spellings such as Andromedia, Andromedai, and Andromedes, led to the naming of the Andromeda Galaxy and the Andromeda constellation after her, rather than vice versa. Atlas, the King of the Atlanteans, was also a son of Japheth. Descendants of Javan, another son of Japheth, include the Italians, Romans, Greeks, and Latins. The lineage from Noah to the ancient Romans is traced through Japheth, Javan, Kittim (Greek Cypriots), and Romim (ancient Romans). Medusa, also known as Thoösa, seems to have a name inspired by her ancestor Methuselah. The pronunciation of Methuselah, məˈTHo͞oz(ə)lə, does not necessarily convey the same meaning as Thoösa, which derives from the Greek word "thoos," meaning "swift." Thoösa was revered as the goddess of perilously swift currents. Pephredo, also spelled Pemphredo, means "She who shows the way," likely referring to the sister with the insightful eye. She is a daughter of Phorcys and Ceto, one of the Phorcides, meaning "daughters of Phorcys," and a member of the Graeae. The term Graeae probably derives from the Greek adjective γραῖα (graia), meaning "old woman," which itself comes from the Proto-Indo-European root *ǵerh₂-, "to grow old," through Proto-Greek *gera-/grau-iu. The name Pemphredo is of Greek origin, suggesting it might not have been her given name at birth but rather one she was known by among the Greeks later in life. The term 'dread' can have various interpretations; it might refer to the state of one's appearance, as in an older sister, or signify a person with dreadlocks, akin to Medusa's snake-like hair. Ultimately, it is up to each individual to determine why the Greeks gave her this name. Poseidon is considered another name for Japheth because the Po Valley and River are in northern Italy, where the descendants of Javan, son of Japheth, settled. The 'seidon' portion of the name is linked to the Sidonians, who are descended from Sido, the son of Canaan and grandson of Ham, Noah's son. Research suggests that Poseidon, who is identified with Japheth, wed Thoosa, also known as Medusa, his half-niece and the offspring of his half-brother Phorcys. Polyphemus, who is linked with Sicily in myths, was the progeny of Japheth and Thoosa. Moreover, Pyrrha, a descendant of Noah, is connected to the Greek term "mesos," which translates to "middle." Experts maintain that Pharaoh Khufu erected the Great Pyramid of Giza, and he was known by the Greek name Cheops. Nonetheless, it is often overlooked that Cheops is another moniker for Polyphemus in Greek mythology, depicted as the sovereign of the Cyclopes, the one-eyed titans. The phonetic resemblance between Cheops, pronounced as ˈkēˌäps, and Cyclops, pronounced as ˈsīˌkläps, underscores their nomenclatural similarity. Consequently, the research deduces that Cheops is an alternate designation for Polyphemus, elucidating the association of the Eye of Providence, or the all-seeing eye, with the pyramid. This link implies that the Cyclopes, descendants of Polyphemus, the offspring of Japheth and the grandchild of Noah, constructed the Pyramid of Giza.
Athena is the real villain in the story. It's not Medusa's fault that she was prettier than Athena. Even after she was turned into a monster, what did she do that was so evil? Seems like the Gods were basically threatened by her beauty, and then by her power. Bunch of Haters!

Having lived through Psychosis as a defense against and result of childhood and marital sexual abuse, I e the story of Medusa as my story. The head of snakes like psychosis, a fire of the mind. The eyes looking out as the ability to manifest. Medusa’s double curse as the greatest injustice and tragedy. Her desire to do good and right being punished twice is telling of her justified anger inside. I also feel the energy of Athena though. And so feel the inner battle within myself of these enemies at odds with each other. The desires to do what we know is best blinded by misunderstandings about our own inner motives causes rage and pressure that gives birth to monsters. Villains are not born; they are created by families and society. Thank you for sharing. This was personally insightful.
In fact, in Greek mythology, Medusa was a natural monster, and it was not Athena who turned Medusa into a monster. Medusa is the daughter of two monsters, the only one of the three sisters who can be killed. Theogony, Poseidon and Medusa fell in love with each other on the grass, and later had a son. It was Minerva of Roman mythology, the Roman version of Athena, who turned Medusa into a monster. Minerva is a Greek god combined with a local god. The original text of this story is found in the fan-fiction "Metamorphosis" written by the Roman poet Ovid, and it seems that "Metamorphosis" is ironic and romantic in literature. In Ovid's "Metamorphoses", it is written that Neptune (Poseidon) imitated Zeus and turned into a bird to intercourse with Medusa in the temple in order to get Medusa. As a result, Minerva (Athena) was frightened Turn Medusa into a monster. There is also no content such as Medusa calling for help. And Medusa's ability to petrify people was not given by Minerva (Athena), Medusa itself has the venom to petrify people. Although Minerva corresponds to Athena, there is still a difference. Minerva rules the moon and memory, but Athena of Greek mythology has no such attributes. Personally, I think it is better to distinguish between Roman mythology and Greek mythology
@@ms.meangood9718 Well, even the Greek version has many variations. But in every version, one thing stands out, in that Medusa was regarded by many as more beautiful than the goddess. And that didn't sit well with Athena.

You are not telling the original Hellenic story of medusa. You are talking about the Roman version of her transformation to a monster by Minerva. In the original Hellenic source medusa was born a Gordon as her sister's were. Poseidon Never rapped her nor did Athena transform her into a Gorgon.
Athena wasn’t fast enough she got there too late the reason her uncle Poseidon, got to Medusa the in first place was because he was still sore about the incident when he lost a certain vote in Athens between him and Athena. It was revenge. You have to wonder if Athena and Medusa reconciled, when medusa entered Elysium.
Athena's actions are not goddess , I believe she's the real demon and doesn't deserve to be worshiped , biggest mistake medusa did is that she followed the wrong god and to actually ask for forgiveness till the last second of her life form someone whos acting childish and envious , Athena hated her because she was jealous from her not because of her sin and used her authority to destroy Medusa , Medusa is an angel :)
@JoutenShin Oh, I'm so sorry. I thought you said that you're not writing according to Greek myth , I'm making my opinion regarding the video. I don't know if it contains wrong information.
Read the comment what's I write. Above of this, many Godesss also doing the same thing like this story you see. Artemis chase Callisto out of her forest bcs Callisto forced to get pregnant by Zeus. Hera cursed Lamia to the half snake and make her eyes cannot closed bcs Lamia is the lovers of Zeus. Aphrodite cursed Phasipae love the cow bcs she want revenged Helios.
Was it really a curse though? She turned man to stone. She can't be raped again. She went to live alone. Sounds like heaven to me. Athena was quite the jealous creature to be that against Medusa. But she catapulted Medusa to history forever. With a great power. I bet Athena regrets her actions in the long run.

Look at Medusa, you turn to stone. Look at Zeus, you incinerate. Look at Yahweh, he's like, "You're gonna die, but I got you bro, I'm gonna take you straight to Heaven with me as soon as you do. Look at Artemis, she'll ask you what your problem is, unless she's naked, and if that's the case you gotta die. But it's nothing personal. It's just our puny brains screwing with us.
Just a question? I’ve heard he raped her then she was cursed. How did she get raped cursed then have a love affair resulting in 2 children all at the same time?
Good comment! The story may differ slightly from the source used. But generally it is like this: while on Sarpedon, Medusa had an affair with Poseidon, which resulted in the birth of two children: Pegasus, the winged horse, and Chrysaor, a giant or a winged archer, depending on the version of the myth. It is important to note that the conception occurred before Medusa was cursed by Athena and given her snake hair. So, in summary, Medusa was raped by Poseidon in the temple of Athena, was cursed by Athena as punishment for violating her temple vow, and then (!) had an affair with Poseidon from which she had two children before being banished to Sarpedon. Hopefully this answers your question. 🙏🏼
@@MysticTalesWondersThere is no raped relationship between of them, please read properly the myth. Hesiod's Theogony: The black-haired Poseidon once slept with Medusa on a meadow full of flowers.
The modern interpretation is one of rape by Poseidon. Originally, Medusa was a beautiful woman (and sister to Stheno and Euryale) who slept with Poseidon in Athena's (sometimes Artemis') temple. Another version saw Medusa's vanity lead to her downfall, claiming she was more beautiful than the goddess. Both stories led to her being cursed. The children Pegasus and Chrysaor sprang from Medusa body when her head was cut off by Perseus. Don't take your facts from what you hear on popular channels on TH-cam, especially those that can not even bother to get the pronunciation of names correct. I urge others to also read these incredible myths and legends for yourself.
Agreed - And it was Ovid who wrote it as rape, several hundred years after the original story, where it was an afair. I find ovid to be a twisted little man, so it is not surprising his writing reflects that... I see him as the National Enquirer of the ancient world.

You are talking about the Roman version of her transformation to a monster by Minerva.
In the original Hellenic source medusa was born a Gordon as her sister's were. Poseidon Never rapped her nor did Athena transform her into a Gorgon.
Medusa is better than Athena , Medusa deserves better
She broke her deal with Athena..
Athena should release her. Female goddesses needs to forgive one another and follow the Creators rules.
Athena is just jealous of Medusa because Medusa is more prettier than her

No, Medusa was born as a monster, Athena has nothing to do with it.
@JoutenShin that's my personal opinion, with all I do respect to your opinion 🩶
@@loay7137 I didn't write any opinion. According to Greek myth, Medusa was born as a monster: Athena has nothing to do with it.
@JoutenShin Oh, I'm so sorry. I thought you said that you're not writing according to Greek myth , I'm making my opinion regarding the video. I don't know if it contains wrong information.
So Poseidon didn't get dealt with for what he did?!
Threatened by a powerful female N jealously of her beauty I’d say that’s all it rlly is personally. Jealousy is an evil trait seen in most these days
Medusa healed is Athena having fun yet
Hail Medusa! Athena, not so much.
Athena should feel stupidly sorry for she was wrong for cursing Medusa she never deserved to be cursed Athena and Poseidon should have been cursed
I liked this story! And I don't think she was a villain.
Medusa is Mosses' twin flame.
From the Bible
Was it really a curse though? She turned man to stone. She can't be raped again. She went to live alone. Sounds like heaven to me. Athena was quite the jealous creature to be that against Medusa. But she catapulted Medusa to history forever. With a great power. I bet Athena regrets her actions in the long run.
back than u had no internet bet u be bored... you just think in the "now"...
@@venomdank965 I grew up without the internet. I do not only think in the "now". I've lived in both worlds and think from all sides. But thanks for playing.
Pretty sure Athena never felt regret
Medusa wasn't alone forever since she died by the hands of Perseus
Well at least that doesn't exist anymore.
So medusa’s curse of turning men to stone could be seen as a blessing… no other man can rape her bc she turns them to stone… there is always a silver lining to everything you just have to find it lol
Athena helped Perseus into killing Medusa, there's *no version* where the transformation was a blessing
@@jessnalulila5552I do not understand how this can be a blessing like she won’t desire love

matter of fact i think tht medusa needs justice before ppl start sayin shses bad they should listen to her storyy ppl are just wicked in life sha and wht happen to medusa thts wht happening nowww it just remain forr uss to be bad and say no buh we wontt
I so hate Àthèñà and Hermès
she is my patron
Well, do N O T forget they were gods .........
@@MysticTalesWondersThere is no raped relationship between of them, please read properly the myth.
Hesiod's Theogony:
The black-haired Poseidon once slept with Medusa on a meadow full of flowers.
Medusa was not the villain
Rape is rape
Agreed - And it was Ovid who wrote it as rape, several hundred years after the original story, where it was an afair. I find ovid to be a twisted little man, so it is not surprising his writing reflects that... I see him as the National Enquirer of the ancient world.

They had an affair in Greek Mythology, this SA by Poseidon is a ROMAN MYTH from the writer Ovid

Athena is most weak and terrible goddess
Well depending which version you take.
The myth you are referring to is Minerva the Roman equivalent version of Athena.
