    I've been thinking about moving over there since I was like 10 lol. And now it might come a reality. I have 5 kids so this was very helpful! Thank you! ❤

    The growth in western Orange County is nuts. We've lived here for 10 years. Our three kids graduated in 2016, 2020, and the youngest will graduate this spring in 2023. In that 7 year span, each will have graduated from 3 different high schools even though we've been in the same house the whole time. They keep having to build new schools to try to keep up with the population growth. (And they aren't doing a great job of keeping up.)

    Nice to hear that about your kids school district. Unfortunately, that is Not the case in Duval County-nearly the polar opposite 😕. We had to put ours in private school. There was just no way around it. Funnily enough the neighboring counties Clay and St.John are both very good and do have communication like the OCPS seems to(we have friends who have children in all 3 counties and there is a Very Big Difference).

    Great info. We moved from STL in August of 2021 one week before school started. My son had golf tryouts the day after we drove down. We didn't find out that OCPS required a ECG test for sports until 5 days before we drove down. Let's just say that was stressful. Fortunately for us, he started at 7:10 in STL so the early start was not a shock. The amount of communication from OCPS is truly something. Like you said, we automatically decline their phone calls knowing we will get a VM, text, and email for the most random of info. We have been happy overall with the school (Horizon) but also kind of happy our son (and youngest) is a senior and we will be done. The last 2 months of the school year were an absolute waste of time with all of the testing.

    I am still in the process of moving from Washington State to Orlando, Florida. My daughter is 20 and will attend one of the OCPS schools here. She is on the autism spectrum disorder. So now I will be going through all the steps you are talking about now. I will be signing up for a guardianship education person, which means I will have guardianship over her education until she is done at 22 years of age. Lots to learn. I am excited for her. I also will be employed by the district.

    I am surprised the public schools in Orange County do not open their outdoor sport facilities to public. It would been nice for neighbors to jog on the tracks(softer than pavement). Lots of senior citizens could take advantage of this.

    My husband is a high school teacher in the Pensacola area and his school starts I believe at 8:30. The elementary schools have the earliest start time and middle schools I think have the latest start tim.

    Here in Texas it is typically the two mile radius. We are at 1.998 miles so we have the option of paying (a small fortune) for bussing, which we do, since we both work full time. It always drives me batty, since i don't feel as if an elementary school should be crossing major roadways, but it is what it is. We also have the late start for middle school, although ours seem to begin much earlier than OC - we are 7-2:35, 7:45-3:30, and 8:45-4:15. I despise SKYWARD. Lol

    I was so excited to watch this video…this is my anxiety about moving so as much info as I can get I appreciate. Do you have to purchase supplies for school or just pay a fee like you were saying?

    • @AddictedtotheMouse
      @AddictedtotheMouse  ปีที่แล้ว

      We did have a list of stuff to get at target in addition to the fees for Jennings - tissues, pencils, spiral notebooks, glue, etc.
