    This is a great video series Lee. Thank you for your excellent work! I watched the whole playlist. I hope that aurdpilot fixes those errors that you had to keep changing. I look forward to finishing my Skyhunter build following these videos! Thanks again!

    I do not miss ardupilot at all haha. I got this far through the videos trying to decide if I should spend the extra money on a vector or try this. Great videos as always!

    Hi nice Vid I am just about to get into Matek F405 Wing old APM guy here for a long time. On the MInimOSD it was possible to set the OSD screen change by "TOGGLING" the Mode switch is this still possible on the Matek or is now just a dedicated channel for doing this? Also I was interested to see the GUI in Mission Planner for setting up the OSD is this a new edition to the software? Cheers Bill

    I’m still waiting for the maiden flight of your paraglider. Wondering how well it flys, or if it’s all about the novelty factor.

      3D performance! Not likely. I was thinking that it could be a perfect trainer for children. A slow gentle aircraft, that will float back to earth with zero pilot input by cutting the motor. The worst fear is that it could get stuck in a tree.

    Pretty interesting, Lee! Thanks a lot! 😃
    BTW, let me ask you something about iNav... I read somewhere that you don't need compass in certain cases and need in others... But I don't remember which, if it's for a wing/airplane or quadcopters...

      You need to Compass in a quadcopter but you can get away without one in a fixed-wing model.

    I've been using Ardupilot on a dozen builds or more and never seen that problem with the RC trims - is it something to do with Taranis maybe?

    • @Painless360

      Maybe, all of my builds have been with Taranis..

      Seems also with Frsky system. I use XJT module and have that problem too. Its seems because I use 12 channel radio while the XJT outputs 16 channel so the remaining 4 channel seems not detected by the flight controller. Easy to fix but just plain anoying

    Really nice series. I'm following-long and building with slightly different hardware (regular Spektrum Rx/Tx, and different VTx and camera). It's my first project like this. The videos are a HUGE help. Thanks!
    I had problems with arming, even after reviewing/changing all the setting you showed here. I was getting hung up on "PreArm: logging fail". I searched and tried a number of fixes, but no luck. Ultimately I went into ARMING_CHECK and disabled the logging check, and it finally armed. (WHEW! Not an ideal solution, but I'll take it for now.)
    Can anyone give me some idea how to actually fix the logging (without disabling the check)?

    Since the flight modes are attached to one channel and one 3 position switch does that mean you have a maximum of 3 flight modes? Is it possible to have more than 3 at one time?

    @painless360 why did you choose this over Inav which the F4o5 supports? I believed Audru and MP was really old and outdated these days?

      Why you would think Ardupilot is 'old and outdated' github.com/ArduPilot/ardupilot/pulse
      It's hard to think of even one reason to choose iNav, other than pre-existing familiarity with the setup procedure.

    When I try and arm my quadcopter, on the mission planner screen it says PRE ARM: High GPS HDOP. When I first tried to arm it it said PRE ARM: GPS: waiting for home. Do you know where I can change it to be able to arm?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Details of how you can override the GPS arming safety is in the documentation. I would strongly suggest that you fix the issue rather then try and fly without a working GPS. It can take many minutes to get a good 3D GPS lock...

    • @tenbears1648
      @tenbears1648 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Painless360 I don't want to bypass the GPS. I would never try and fly it like that. I want to fix the issue. I just don't know how to fix it. Everything was working fine until I loat mission planner from my laptop and desktop. When I downloaded it again and installed the latest firmware I must have done something wrong. I wonder if I should reset the memory in my Pixhawk and start over?

    day 2 and I've been watch the entire build from Omnibus and Matek F405wing.
    what I want to ask is,
    1. when you have the message from mission planner that says about preArm problem, what connection do you use?
    are you still using usb cable? or telemetry from the TBS?
    in my community, I saw they are using 3DR to communicate beetween the plane and mission planner, as they were using the plane for aerial mapping. but I don't see you installed any 3dr tele.
    2. When the message Pre arm problem shows up, can I just see it on googles? just like INAV.
    in inav, they show everything about the error in the googles. and I dont have to connect to inav configurator.
    I'm sorry, Inav is my first autopilot technologies and I'm new into the ardupilot. that is why I always compared with Inav.
    I think INav has more user friendly interface in inav configurator than the mission planner does.
    3. How do we see about satellite in ardupilot? in Inav we should wait about 6 or more satellite lock to get more precision flying. how do we see how many satellite we have on mission planner? because it only says '3D gps fix' . it didnt mention about how many satellite fix.
    4. if I'm using pixhawk 2.4.8 which is doesnt have osd built in like matekf405, then how do I know about everything? is it only based in a sound that coming from buzzer? to know it arm or disarm?
    in Inav we can check that and all other information simply on the googles.
    I dont know how it could be that interesting to fly with ardupilot. you just throw the plane, and watch it by in mission planner.
    I dont know where is it, I dont know what circumtances that my plane will fly into, because all we see in the ground station is only a telemetry data.
    like altitude, heading, speed, etc. plus there is only a map that show where the plane is.
    its like fly blindly. I dont complaint about ardupilot, but just share my thought. as an INAV user, then moved to ardupilot family, its completely diiferent.
    I need visual input! just like Inav does hahaha.
    so even I fly 10 km away with waypoint, I still can see the environment around the plane. if there is a power line or a tower ahead, I can avoid it.
    but I did watch your video about that, Inav and ardupilot is a different method of flying.
    actually I loved to fly with visual input and I can go to inav.
    but since I want to enter the aerialmapping world. I also need to learn about ardupilot!
    looking forward for your reply sir! thanks to you, cheers!

    I went back to iNav on a wing build I'm doing. I am running into a problem with the servos. I get about double the movement in the left servo than I do in the right servo. Everything is centered and control rods in the same locations, same metal gear servo's and in manual mode. Any idea what the cause or fix for this is?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd run the servos from a servo checker to see if you have one of them with more travel..

    I've come to the conclusion you can't have a compass in arduplane after spending hours trying various GPS/compass arrangements including separate compass boards, none seem to give reliable headings (by the way the compass you show is an APM type, therefore you should use Roll180, as the compass ends up being upside down when the GPS is installed) I will be interested to see how you fare going forward.
