I'm enjoying the series, Beau. Since I began watching your videos, I knew there was a connection and your interview has explained why.
I grew up on a farm and have always enjoyed being outdoors.....hunting, fishing, camping, trapping (yes, I know what a conibear on the hand feels like), shooting, etc.
History has always been my mystery and detecting was an amazing fit. While only a few years in, I know it will be with me to the end.
Not that fond of the heat anymore, but I love the cold and one of my fondest memories was hunting whitetail with a quarter inch of ice on the barrel.
My only regret is having never served my Country. I have the utmost respect for those who have and do. Thank you for your service and the inspiration you are and will continue to be for me and thousands of others!

I ordered my entry level Garrett ACE 350 today with all accessories. Should arrive in time for my 50th Birthday. Inspired completely by your videos. I live in an area with a lot of Indian history along the river I live on. I couldn't afford the waterproof models but dry land searching is the plan. Thanks for your inspiring videos sir.

Thank you so much for all the videos you put up Beau.
They are so well done. We really enjoy them. I'm always looking foward to the next one. I've been detecting seriously now for five years or so, and watching your techniques have been very helpful.
This interview has been great. Very informative and inspiring. Nice to know you get the same emotional connection I do when I find a piece that represents a significant moment in history.
My wife wanted me to say she loved the baby fox and deer episodes.
    Thanks again!

Nice to see another part of this interview and not one person watching could say you aren't passionate about the hobby, history and getting out there and enjoying every day. Great attitude to have regarding finds too as we don't find great stuff on a regular basis. I really pity the guys on TH-cam who feel they have to show silver or gold in every video a they invariably end up making such obvious fake 'finds'.
Great to be associated with the proper detectorists who do it for the love of the hobby and not the money from TH-cam.
    Awesome stuff, man.
    Looking forward to part 3.

Amen... It can be very discouraging to watch someone find silver in every video, and go out on your own, and not find silver for months! By the way, nice to see you on Beau's account, I'm subscribed to both of you guys.

      ***** Groovy.
I'm not one for hero worship but I reckon the nearest thing to a hero in the detecting world is Beau, no doubt about it.
Always great to see someone with a successful channel remaining a nice guy as a few well known guys over here in the UK are simply awful creatures in it purely for views, subs and earnings, faking stuff in almost every video. Urrrggh....

Holy cow Beau, I just watched this video tonight, March 9th. About a month, or so, ago, I wrote on my Facebook page how it fascinates me to detect something from 50, 100, 200+ years ago that a person was right here and lost whatever it may be. I love history and the, 'what if's,' are what keep me going.

Ahhhh, cliffhanger on the $ question. For many of us it's not about the money. For some reason people like to assign a monetary value to everything. Money is no more than a nuisance that we all must deal with and it ruins most things.

W Wally I am mainly doing it for the fun and the things I learn about, I am interested in things like history, but that does not mean, that I would not be happy about a ring that is worth a lot. So I think, people see the finds, that they find interesting (which is mainly valuable stuff) then they think, everyone finds those finds most important and make false assumptions... at least I think that is the case.

I really don't know how I ended up watching your programs - through just being interested in the topic, I guess - But you Sir, Beau Ouimette, are one intelligent and resourceful person.
Just by watching the 2 episodes I have learned things that no one has ever been able to make clear - The content was pretty much clear, but the way you explained it was very interesting.
Looking forward to watch the 3rd part.

Old timers, What drives me and from what you talk about are near the same. If I was out for the rich's, I best find another way. Reaching into the time portal to the 1700's and 1800's is my thrill. History of WV is great and I'm learning all the time. One hurdle that took me some time to over come was to be looking at my site as being used 200 years ago. I don't run on to other hunters as I'm long past the local parks and schools. In now 60 and as I have always joked, some day some hunter will find me in the woods, a pile of bones with a detector in one hand and $20 gold piece in the other. Thanks

Spot on man, it is all about the connection to history. Its knot about getting rich, well to me. Its about getting out side, the hunt, the history, and allot of times trying to figure out what it is that I found. One time I dug a u. s. Navy button with no shank on the back but four small fasits on the edge of it. Man it took me days to figure out that it was a part of a button belt that women wore after the civil war. I love the research. Thank you so much for your videos, they are great. Good luck ;)

Dang! Some things you say seem like you're quoting my mind! Other things I think I'll steal and quote myself! ;-) I wish the camera wouldn't have messed up tho :-( Thanks for letting us see you, all vulnerable and nervous. I know that has to be difficult to do! I felt the same about the video I posted the other day called Found silver, lost mind. In it I had just found my first silver, a Merc and I wept! This video shows me, once again, how wonderful a man I know you are! Ty Mr BEAU!

Have you ever noticed that when you meet others that enjoy this hobby as much as we do, most of the time you are meeting someone that you can really relate to? I guess we area a unique breed indeed. I have been watching your videos foe over a year now and metal detecting for about the same time. I hunt or research at least once or twice a week and most of the time a lot more often than that. although I'm a novice, I can relate to almost everything you say. I live on the water and hope to start water hunting, but not sure exactly how to go about it. I will be hunting the rivers and shoreline of the Chesapeake bay in Virginia, much bigger water than what I usually see you hunting. You are not that far from me, have you ever hunted near or around the Chesapeake bay?
