I think you need to double clutch it like driving a truck.

Yes, sir. Gears are un-synchronized in that car's transmission.

His DOUBLE CLUTCH timing is out.

I think most of us born after 1959 have that issue. I probably couldn't double clutch right either.

I see a BAD water-leak under the exhaust (above the back of the generator, last one I had that leaked from the block, meant rust has eaten it away, the block WAS unrepairable !

Which GM division built the 3 speed gearbox, and is it totally non-synchro?

You're holding your foot on the clutch pedal...

And also the timing for changing the gear from 1º to 2º was wrong. Double clutch pedaling should be faster and the throttle should match the engine speed with the car speed in 2º gear at the time of engagement.

Needs pb gas or leded gas or the valve train gets worn. Not fixable Pb gas lubs the valve train and with out the Pb the valves wear out. Same problem with the 1970s muscel cars. Todays gas eats the engine.
Tetraethyllead (TEL) was first fabricated for use in gasoline in 1923.

Does that car have seat adjustment? That it slid all the way forward? For People below 5 feet.

Unbolt the seat, and put a block of metal under it to raise it.

I have the chance to buy the same make and model in similar condition, all original and running, except mine would have the optional wire wheels, for $6000. I could afford it but presently have no place to store it. If the owner can wait a while until I can sell another vehicle, perhaps we could make a deal.
