    Thank you from France for all these details. I have a Sig P226 X Five and I will test the DPM spring next saterday. I will take in consideration all of your remarks.

    At this point, I have around 10k rds through my XTEN., and I’m on my third OEM RSA. No issues with light to medium 10mm loads. Over the course of time, I eventually got a Garmin chronograph as I looked for a favorite general purpose, EDC load. I landed on Buffalo Bore 180gr. HP advertised at 1,350 fps. They have great information on their website about Extreme Spread (ES) in velocity. I chronographed 31 rds today with an ES of 63.9. I want a heavier recoil spring weight to reduce the ES. For those running Underwood, Grizzly, Buffalo Bore, to get the most of of the system, check your ES and tailor the recoil spring to reduce the ES as well as other benefits mentioned in the video. The BB 180 (item #21B) is a laser at 100yds and hits steel with absolute authority!

      Thanks for watching, yes it was a lot of effort since the Mantis was giving me issues. Mantis sent me a replacement after i complained to them, but the video was pretty much done.

    After trying this out for a couple hundred rounds on a couple different configurations on my P320 X-Full 4.7 inch I naturally came to the conclusion that the heavy spring + short plug was the best. But I didn't get to try the medium + medium setup. I'll try that out later.

      That's what's great about it, you can tune it to how it feels best for you and which ammo you like to use as well.

    Will you compare the factory Xten vs your final pick vs factory Xten comp?

    • @58Alpha
      @58Alpha  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, what do you mean my final pick? My final pick of the Recoil Spring combination? That is already compared to the factory spring. I also don't have the XTen Comp. Sorry about that.

  • @tobykornreich2719
    @tobykornreich2719 ปีที่แล้ว

    My pick would have to be the heavy and medium.

    • @58Alpha
      @58Alpha  ปีที่แล้ว

      Perfect! Each ammo will shoot and feel different, this was just a test with what I had! Glad you found a good combination for you!

    Got these to develop some hot loads. Haven’t shot them yet but even with the heaviest spring and longest plug it still feels just as heavy or equal to he stock spring. The main reason I got them was to have heavy springs. Do yours feel heavier than the stock spring?

    • @58Alpha
      @58Alpha  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Somewhat yes..but it all depends which combination you go with. Of you activate the smaller spring inside the guide rod, that springs ks stiffer. I explain it in the video. If you use the long plug, you'll have more resistance sooner as the slide recoils. So it all depends on what feel you desire. Heavy spring with long plug will get you the most tension. I couldn't find what the stock spring poundage is so hard to compare other than feel. For your hot loads, i would then just stick with the heavy and long spring then.

    • @j.shorter4716
      @j.shorter4716 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@58Alpha yes I plan on comparing the heavy spring/ long plug combo with the stock spring. When racking the slide by hand they feel nearly the same, but I will probably be able to tell more when I shoot it based on recoil and where my brass is landing.

    • @58Alpha
      @58Alpha  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@j.shorter4716 yeah. I kind of noticed they seem similar. Could reach out to sig about what the spring weight is. But you might feel something different when shooting.

    Enlightening Video! Thanks!
    Many of us xten owners are having problems with JHP and HC cartridges getting jammed-up in the magazines, especially the heavier (200gr) rounds. Have you had any problems so far with your magazines?
    Also, did you have any failures to feed with this DPM spring system, especially with the heavier springs and longer plugs?
    What would also be interesting is testing a 5-round rapid-fire recovery and the resultant string prints on paper targets. My results could be better if I had more rounds through this weapon so far, but I did a rapid-fire test at 15m and the results were interesting.... all hits on one vertical line, with the first shot POI at POA, subsequent POIs were incrementally lower, about 1" lower each next hit (I think). So for an eight round rapid-fire string, the string-print was roughly 8" tall.
    I believe the recoil of the xten is more than my g20 and g40 because both of these glocks print in one nice tight group in a rapid-fire string, but then again I'm far more accustomed to those weapons.

      Yep. My buddy had exact issues with his mags with v-crown bit i got my gun about a month after his and have had 0 issues with the mags or ammo I've tried. So maybe they have it worked out now. My friend sent his in, they gave him the run around saying they didn't have any issues in their tests so they sent it back, but my friend noticed he got 2 new mags returned but SIG never admitted it.
      No failures to feed on any of the ammo I shot with the DPM combinations. Only thing was my thumb locked the slide back on recoil, but it wasn't a mag, gun, or ammo issue.
      I could try some rapid firing for video. I did some off camera with out problems.
      I had a lot of my shots also at the 6 o'clock position on the target. I shoulda posted the paper targets in this video but I don't know if it's me shooting low or the gun. But I went through a lot of rounds and they were all consistent groups at around 6 o'clock on the targets.
      I had the G20sf and would agree, recoil does seem a bit sharper ok the x-10, so that's one reason I got the DPM recoil springs and that seemed to help and make it feel better. I sold the G20sf because SIG didn't have a ln x-ten at the time, then a few months after k got the G20sf, the x-ten came out and I like the feel and grip way better than the Glock. So far no regrets. Just need more time behind the gun, probably only about 400 rounds through it so far.
      Anyway thanks for watching and giving some feedback!

      @@58Alpha My xten came with #6 sights, front and rear. It made the pistol shoot 6" low at 15m. At 70m, it was about 6 feet low! Sig has waffled about on their sights, some guns are meant to shoot POA with combat-style sighting (POI behind front sight dot), other pistols of theirs shoot POA at top edge of front sight like every other manufacturer sets their sights.
      My friend is a Sig Armorer, and he called Sig and their rep told him that there is a lot of BS floating about on the web about the xten shooting low. He then told the rep that he tried the pistol and it shot low. So they sent a set of #8 sights and now the pistol shoots "correctly," POI = POA when the target is at the top edges of the sights. Even at 100m, POI = POA.
      I can't understand why anyone would want to not see the target with it blocked by the sights? Especially if the target (BG) is far enough away that the front sight completely blocks your view of him. Crazy. Does anyone think Elisjsha Dicken had goofy, low 'combat'-style sighting? I think not. Glock is too smart for that.
      So there you have it. If you don't like Sig's idea of aiming a pistol and it is shooting low for you, complain to Sig and get #8 sights installed.

      @@SagaSeaCraft well that is reassuring. I do a lot of shooting and think I'm not that bad of a shot. And I shot a lot of ammo for this test on paper too and used 9 bullseyes. All groups were low. Pics below. I think I'll try to contact SIG then and see if they send me sights. Couldn't hurt.

      @@58Alpha Yup, sig's 'combat' sight-picture sights strike low again. Just received the four new mags that I purchased from sig. They're not much better than the two mags that came with the xten. Can you tell I'm not a big fan-boi of sig? I'm on the edge of keeping or selling this xten. But hey, it is a good looking piece.🤣

      @@SagaSeaCraft Nice, I'm glad you got some, they've been out of stock for a long time, I also grabbed some. I'm a big fan of Sig, sometimes they have some hiccups with customer service or some other things, but overall I'm happy with all of my Sigs. I sold the Glock 20SF for the X-Ten and have no regrets.
