Alan Bershaw writes: "This goes out to my friends who have an interest in Little Feat founder Lowell George, who was born this week in 1945. In 1972, Frank Zappa prepared a 9-LP box set with the intention of releasing it as "The History And Collected Improvisations Of The Mothers of Invention”. This package never actually saw the light of day, due to Frank’s record company Warner Brothers refusing to cooperate, but a great deal of the material has been mined for subsequent archival releases. This track, titled “Special Metal Teeth”, was intended for that project and is one of the notable exceptions that has never been officially issued. Recorded circa 1969 and showcasing an improvised guitar solo by Lowell George during his tenure with The Mothers, this is a gnarly little jam that conveys a side of Lowell's guitar playing quite unlike his distinctive slide style with Little Feat."
