    I love how they made the front look like a real, older amp, because lets be real, these boxes are made to inspire us and aesthetics matter! lol Sounds pretty unique, never really looked into Silvertones.

      I genuinely agree. Love the aesthetics and knob choice on these. And unlike it's somewhat flimsy wood-ish (?) construction of the original head cab, this thing is rock solid!

    Hey! Great demo, I would appreciate your take on my problem - for some time I have been looking for an amplike booster for a Hiwatt DR. I want to move into more saturated and gainy tones without compromising amps headroom and too much tone colouring. I understand this is supposed to be a Sears in a box but do you think It would work just to push the amp into midgain, tubelike drive without turning the Hiwatt into a completely different animal?

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey! I'd personally look elsewhere if I was going to look for a straight-forward boost. I'm not sure what you mean by "producing more saturated and gainy tones without compromising amp headroom" those seem contradictory to me, but perhaps I'm not understanding you.
      I'd highly recommend checking out the Benson Germanium Boost - I carry them in my shop here: www.littleboxeffects.com/product/benson-germanium-boost
      Genuinely my favorite boost that adds just a touch of compression and has a nice sparkle and life to it. Just makes everything sound better. If you want a little more versatility, the 29 Pedals JFET Boost is also great.

      @@AmbientEndeavors Thank you! I didn't express myself correctly, rather than headroom i ment amps frequency band. Hiwatt is rather a broadly sounding Amp and most pedals i tried tend to chop off either the low end or highs, generally terribly squish the sound.
      Actually my first choice was the Benson preamp, did you have aby experience with that one? Germanium boost sounds like a good option too

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@maciekszukaa2688 yeah! The Benson Preamp is great - I love those and carry the original as well as the recent Germanium Preamp in the shop too. That will tend to act a bit more like an overdrive, might have some tone shaping that encumbers the amp's freq range, but the EQ section is pretty versatile on the Preamp. The Boost will leave your tone the most unadulterated.

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  หลายเดือนก่อน

      you know, it can kind of go a few different places; in the middle of a drive section as an overdrive, or even last in chain to kind of act as an "amp" or preamp.

    I would really like to know if this would make any sense plugged into a Marshall amp (Origin 20c specifically) or if it just suits a Fender style amp better.

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! I don't often play Marshall circuits, so take this with a grain of salt, but it is dynamic enough and honestly has a good deal of low-gain texture range that I think it would jive with a Marshall if the amp wasn't set with too dramatic an EQ.

    • @marcop1587
      @marcop1587 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AmbientEndeavors well thank you for your reply first of all, it's not a particularly gainy amp to be honest, to get a crunchy tone you really have to crank the volume up, so... might work? 🤷🏻
      I'd definitely plug it into a Custom Deluxe Reverb...if I only had one 😞

    • @allatsea2746
      @allatsea2746 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It usually makes the most sense to plug preamp/amp in a box pedals directly into the power amp; in your case via the send return of the Origin.

    Hi
    Where put this pedal ?
    01 like an overdrive preamp ?
    Or
    02 at the end of chain of pedals like a universal audio dream 65 ?
    Thanks

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey ! Could probably work in either spot!I have a plan to make a video with it at the end of the chain, in which case you’d want some sort of speaker emulator/ir loader to really make it feel like an “amp” but I think it would produce cool results in that context

  • @edwardbrown1051
    @edwardbrown1051 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I bought a used 1484 in 1966 for use in my first high school band. Sold it about 10 years later and always regretted it. However, if this is reproduction of that amp, I do not understand the Gain control. The 1484 had two channels with EQ and Volume but no gain control.

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I think it was in an effort to sort of pedal-ize the circuit so the user had more control over that saturation/"gain" of it. It does dilute a bit of the authenticity of it, but I think it's still a pretty solid recreation of the vibe of those amps.

    • @Greenplantsky
      @Greenplantsky 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As far as I understand (per videos that explain the pedal’s circuit and per my own conversation with Jackson Audio) Gain control here is actually what was a Volume control on the initial amp. And the Volume knob on the pedal controls the overall volume of the pedal’s output. In this way it all makes sense, I just don’t understand why they don’t explain it in any official videos or in the description of the product.

  • @dots.sounds
    @dots.sounds 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love the look of that pedal, but didn't like it when I tried it at Guitar Summit. Your demo makes it sound way better than I remember it, so maybe I should give it a 2nd chance with my own setup. good job again!

    • @adrianr2312
      @adrianr2312 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally agree. Into my deluxe reverb the pedal had practically zero drive even with the gain control maxed out. Thought my unit was defective but I played through 2 other ones with the same results. Wish I could get it to sound all gainy and fuzzy like a lot of the demos around :(

    • @dots.sounds
      @dots.sounds 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adrianr2312 think it really depends on the guitar you're using. I was playing it with some sort of strat (not mine, was at a exhibit booth) and that had really low output. Bet with higher output ones - esp. humbuckers - you can really drive it like shown here. Or with a boost infront.

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah was going to ask what guitar you’re using - it has less gain than I expected, but is pretty dynamic and responsive to what it’s being fed (pickup output, boost in front, etc)

    • @markferguson3745
      @markferguson3745 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always going to be pickups, amp, and cab dependent.Using hot humbuckers, or even a moderately high gain amp as a platform is going to suck the character out of whatever is in front of it.The speakers make a bigger difference than most seem to realize as well.

  • @ESANANIKONE
    @ESANANIKONE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I wish they would do same kind of pedals but with reverb and cab sim so that it's actually an amp in a box :)

    • @AmbientEndeavors

    In my area , you can still find the reasonably priced real thing; not terribly frail or heavy, I've long considered getting one.Commonly, the experienced sales pitch begins with " they don't do clean", but they are great for all but.
    Hard call between this and the JHS Twin 12; the latter has become somewhat of a collectors item, so the prices are high for what it is.Jackson might have come along at the perfect time.
    How about something in the vein of the Acclam Dr.Robert, Jext Telez White Pedal, or even the Smallsound/Bigsound F#ck OD?

    Hi Andrew! I hope you could give me some advice on this pedal... I'm considering buying it to replace the Benson Preamp mk1. Obviously the Benson is a great pedal, but sometimes I find it too muddy and dark, and I find it hard to dial in the right spot for me. How the 1484 reacts to picking dynamics? does it break up gently or its immediatly harsh and gnarly? I think this also is the case that it reacts very well to guitar control, cleaning up easily when dial the volume back, it is the case? Let me know!

    • @AmbientEndeavors
      @AmbientEndeavors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! The twin twelve has a bit more in the way of responsiveness and sensitivity, and does gradually get into breakup. There's a surprising amount of clean-ish territory in the pedal, which gives you that definition and sparkle while still reacting a bit like an amp when you dig in.

    • @vanlopes1687
      @vanlopes1687 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tried that already with a IR loader + DI Box. I must say it does not behave like a amp-in-box or somewhat closer to a real 1484 amp. And it gets worse because it does not accept effects very well in that scenario. Too hard to handle, making the fun go away. And that made me sell it right away :(
