Who would have thunk it way back when that Major Briggs would be the key player in this whole game. He had obviously visited the future and knew that both Mrs. Briggs and Bobby would live long enough to exchange the code at precisely that period in time (just prior to the events scheduled to transpire on 10/1 & 10/2). He is the all-knowing entity in the wacky TP world. I love how much my brain hurts trying to piece the clues/theories together after each and every episode...

Some things that seemed interesting to me: 1) Diane's fingernails in the close up of the phone are white, red, and black. I thought this was an interesting parallel to the White and Black lodges seperated by the Red Room. 2)"That Zebra's out again" made me think of Yipes Stripes gum. Perhaps that gum Cooper likes is coming back in style. 3) Chad had a bowl of Garmonbozia?
In the scene where Major Briggs "delivers the message" to Agent Cooper showing him those coordinates, Cooper asks why he's showing this to him, and Major Briggs then points to the next part and says, "Cooper Cooper Cooper." If memory serves, the episode clearly shows it appearing three times before the numbers begin again. I think that scene is isolated here on TH-cam.
In that scene is four and a half of Coopers. That piece of paper is the same - the numbers/letters gibberish around the message are identical, even the badly printed letter "M" above first Cooper.
Everyone assumes that Evil Coop manufactured Dougie, but I think ??????? (The Giant) created him. He's Cooper in the White Lodge's version of the witness protection program. Look how everyone around him guides and helps and protects him, plus his house is full of gold stuff which makes me think of ???????. Is he in a special protected reality? Also, Sonny-Jim is definitely linked to the room service waiter character from S2E1, who was later linked to The Giant. If you go back and watch, just before we see Sonny-Jim for the first time, Dougie gets out of bed and holds his stomach in the same place Cooper was shot in S1E8 (and Evil Coop in S3E8), then Sonny-Jim gives him the same thumbs-up and smile that the Waiter did. Just a theory...
78deathface not sure what to think of Sunny Jim but I completely agree about Dougie coops situation being "protected" and guided by light, so to speak. Just not exactly sure if it's Mike leading him along/laying the framework for him to be safe, or bigger things at play like the Giant pulling the strings. Either way something is guiding and protecting dougiecoops existence.
I agree about people trying to help and protect Dougie/Coop. But I still think Bob/Coop manufactured or had someone/thing manufacture Dougie; directly to avoid him from having to go back to the Lodge. I think Coop was set to leave the Black Lodge no matter what; Bob just found a way around him going back by making this Dougie character. But I also think there's still more going on with who/where/how exactly Bob/Coop is right now. And also with the doppleganger of the Arm, which is another thing to think about but I don't hear it mentioned hardly at all.
in the Secret History there's a description made by Nixon of two meetings, one with the 'Nodic' type aliens in which they offer advanced tech in exchange for the US disarming it's nukes, which is declined by the US, and another meeting between another set of beings who offer up advanced tech in exchange for 'genetic material', this offer is accepted. That makes me think the more sinister characters are behind whatever manufacturing of people is happening.
Corey But how or why does he look just like Coop before he became Dougie Coop? I haven't seen any of S3 or the last 4 episodes of S2 so I have what may seem like silly questions. Like are more than one Coop ever in the same space? Or scene?
Could the different dates mean that the events in Dakota are set in one timeline (the one from the original show), events in Vegas in another (the one from the Secret History) and the events in Twin Peaks are from both timelines. This could explain Andy not checking up on the hit and run suspect he was suppose to meet, Hawk not telling anyone about his visit to the Lodge entrance, the change of scenery within the same scene in the diner after the guy shouts where's Bill, and finally, it could explain the mystery box in Argentina that imploded after Bad Coop dials it - maybe Bad Coop uses it to communicate with the phones in the second timeline.
I was thinking about different time lines too. I mean, how long has Jerry been out in the woods for? And Janey-E said she was going to take Dougie to the doctor after Mullins gave him the rest of the day off. But we got to the end of the episode, as usual at night at the road house, and still no doctor's for Dougie. Maybe he had to make an appointment. It does feel like certain scenes are continuously playing catch up to certain storylines. .
The paper that read "Cooper/Cooper" dates back to season two right after Leland died I believe. Briggs said his job was classified, but part of his job was to listen to transmissions from deep space. Most of the time it's nothing until that one day when clearly it read Cooper. I'm curious if way back in the original run if this use of two Coopers was intended to set up season three (which they were planning to do and had been working on plot lines)?
What Hastings writes on the photo is 9/29. You can see the scrawl of the tail of the nine along the edge of the other photo. This puts it perfectly in time with everything else.
The music played during the Mrs Briggs scene was Major Brigg's theme, it was played for example in Season 2 when he sort of "appeared" to Coop, Truman, and Albert in the woods to talk about the fate of Leland and Bob.
Yeah that Bushnell Mullins thing caught my attention too. Anyway, Pete, any ideas why the Twin peaks sheriff's department don't seem particularly interested in the hit and run that killed the little boy? Andy, obviously feels that chair colour is more important than chasing up the farmer and his 'story' about his truck.
Some MORE things I noticed: the shot of the FBI airplane shows backwards numbers/letters on the side of the plane (9450GD), also from the way the two scenes are juxtaposed, we are supposed to be hearing the plane fly overhead when Evil Coop and Chantal make out; Chantal is wearing a red number one on her left sleeve, like the boy in the 119 scenes wears on his shirt (this one has four yellow stars around it); the trio of cute singers at the club have appeared before--is this an encore performance or are we earlier in the timeline?
I'm sorry, but the bottom of Diane's phone screen does not say "iMessage" or "IMessage". It is simply a blinking cursor in front of the word "Message". Some phones say "Message" and some say "Enter message". Just take a look at the input field of the text screen of your own smartphone. I do agree about the sloppily written 9 though.

It doesn't say "Message" Also, the blinking cursor on an iPhone is blue, not a faded grey. Diane received a message that was sent using the internet but Cooper's phone had no internet access. Ergo, it's not a text from Cooper. I don't think it's an error but a deliberate choice.
All of this little stuff like this (also happens with Sunny Jim, but a little more sensible there is it almost seems to be an altered/protected parallel or something, but it happening with Hawk... no idea.)
I like the idea that Philip Jeffries is working with Diane. It makes sense. She'd probably do anything to hurt Evil Coop and Jeffries likely contacted her knowing this.
Going with Pete's "red" theme, (a favorite color for Lynch) Both Diane and the woman at the Police Dept. were wearing red shoes. I don't think Diane has any ulterior motive, yet. Because of all the burner phones that Mr. C/Bad cooper, she has no way of knowing who is sending these texts... jeffries? cooper? some ex-lover? she doesn't know. I've gotten strange texts from unknown people before...anyway, I hope there's nothing for Tammy to have to see through.
Very yrev interesting that you mentioned the mysterious box with two LEDs sitting in some basement that went beep-beep after Lorraine dialed it and pressed 2 . Maybe this is a relay box. Great video again.
Twin Peaks Fans : I've a few lingering questions: 1) What does the Zebra/Penguin signify? (Zebra = Patters on a bubble gum? or the patterns inside the Lodge Waiting room>? Or something else) 2) What does the rash under the girl's arm-pit signify? I cant think of a parallel anywhere in the TP show where someone had a rash....Is there some more general meaning that Rashes signify? Something linked to drug abuse? 3) Is there any relevance for Dr Jacoby so far? Outside of him being some youtuber/tele salesman, is there anything of merit in your mind? I am now convinced that there is not one idle detail on this show. Everything on the screen is there for a purpose. Not necesssarily a narrative purpose. It could be aesthetic, symbolical or personal. (How about that framed photo that got knocked down with Johnny?) These other purposes make it difficult to nitpick and assign value or meaning to each detail. But we are suckers for it, and Lynch knows that. He connects with us by challenging our senses.
anyone notice evil Cooper got shot twice (center of chest and lower left side of his body) but only had one bullet hole upon arriving to the "farm". seems the woodsmen healed the bullet hole and Bob making sure some "planned greater purpose" is carried out? maybe they needed to make sure evil Cooper stays with Bob (if Bob is even still with him) just a thought...
During the Buckhorn scene there's a painting of a horse behind the desk. There's a horse statue on the desk and a horse sculpture hanging by the doorway when the man comes in to collect evidence and talks about finding Ike. In episode 8 we hear the distant sound of horses as the woodsman disappears.
In the website search for the zone, if you click on the coordinates you get a video of a place who looks a lot like the convenience store in part 8. Same pole on the left of the window, a signal that it's impossible to read but with two words, the second of which has 5 letters, some kind of object on the right that makes a very similar light to the telephone in the convenience store scene. Also, in Major Briggs's message, next to the symbol we saw in the Ace of spades card, there's another one, like a red sun. Maybe something to do with all the red ballons in Vegas?
It makes sense that the time frame of the town of Twin Peaks is off from Vegas and South Dakota. Ben Horne received the key in what was the next day for Dougie. It was sent in regular mail, out of state, and was I can't get a next day letter from up the street.

Hi Pete, just rewatched the scene from Season 2 Episode 2 when Major Briggs delivers this message to Cooper and it shows the paper as the Major is reading "Cooper, Cooper, Cooper.." you can clearly see there are five that are shown. Just to address your question where the person got 5 from. Great question about Dougie's boss making odd gestures, I was wondering about that, figured Lynch was trying to convey something but I had no idea, still don't but glad you addressed that odd moment. I think that the upper/lower-case "AROUND THE DINNER TABLE.." is a continuity error. Look at Mr C's phone when he removes the tracking devices from the car (and how he does it), or Diane's phone when she tries to check her messages on the plane. There will be no subtle clues in phone UIs in this series.
1) when Bill Hastings circles Major Briggs' photo and signs/dates it, he mumbles "9/29". So yes,the 9/20 thing is debunked. 2) Great catch on Mr Bushnell,i need to watch his actions and manurisms again. 3) Windom Earle WILL come into play here,he already has. The scene where Bobby's mum talks to him, Hawk and Truman; There's a short scene where the camera pans from Hawk to Truman and as it's happening Hawks eyes are almost certainly darting into place as though he's come straight out of the Black Lodge (reversed footage) - Bobby and Truman are more or less still throughout.

Maybe he's not complete because he left his shoes there? Maybe Hawk must find those in the Lodge, bring 'em back play a Cinderella thing with Dougie? I know it sounds extra silly but considering Lynch's sense of humor it might be the thing ;)

In an interview question inquiring about the “119 woman”, Frost coyly commented that Black Lodge inhabitants sometimes speak backwards, implying that the meaning was the emergency number 911. Not sure what it all means.
My theory on Mullins - remember when Coop said that he was a "strong sender?" Well, Mullins might be getting some subconscious signals from Coop, which compell him to do certain things. He did meticulously check all of the case files despite just seeing doodles at first, and now he's reacting to the Fuscos using Gordon's code, without realising it.
An iPhone specifically indicates either "iMessage'" or "Text Message" in the input box, to distinguish between a message sent online and a regular phone SMS. Here the input box reads "iMessage" meaning Diane was online and received a message that was sent using the internet. BUT Cooper's phone was not a smartphone and had no internet access. 'Someone said 5, I don't know where they're getting that information from' When Briggs first showed Cooper the message in season two you can clearly see 'Cooper' at least 5 times - the last is cut off and there could even be more iterations after that. I agree with the fact Briggs cut out two because he knew about Doppelganger Coop and was attempting to relay a message.
That second piece of paper with the two coopers written on it is the same piece of paper that major Briggs showed coop in the 2nd season saying that was gibberish from space.
I had to rewatch that Hastings scene a couple of times as well, and I noticed that his hand movement definitely makes a 9, not 0. Also, if you look closely at the date Hastings signs, you see that the "little leg" you mentioned actually goes all the way down to the bottom left corner of picture 5. Just a weird 9 I guess!
I agree, also I don't think it changes much as SD story arc is mostly tied up with LV because of the two Coopers and not necessarily with TP. Imho if you wanna look for a significant non lined up timeline take a look at the scene in which Andy he's waiting for the farmer. There's a close up of his Rolex and a 10 where the day of the month is indicated. That might mean that it has yet to happen and Richard killing the boy is also something from the future (maybe he stole the farmer's truck, so he wasn't able to go to the meeting with Andy). Also, if that's true it will happen after the date in Major Briggs message

Contrary to everything I've read from several TH-cam recap videos on this episode (including this one), I don't think it's hard at all to see that there is a single split in timelines between Twin Peaks and every other "current-day" venue. Early on, due to mistaking Richard Horne for Ray, I struggled to understand how "he" could dash between TP & Buckhorn. In the process, I noticed that (other than my error which I finally noticed by ep 6 or so), absolutely nothing that happens in Twin Peaks is tied to any other storyline yet (as of episode 11), but all other locations ARE tied together. * The Lodge ties to Las Vegas (Coop's replacing Dougie) and the road to Yankton (EvilCoop's car accident). * The glass box in NYC ties to the Lodge, the oceanside/space room, and Vegas (Coop's journey) and to Philadelphia (Tammy's investigation). * Buckhorn, thru (EvilCoop's adventures, ties to Yankton, EC's recent burial/resurrection, and Las Vegas (from EC's calls to Duncan Todd), and to Philadelphia thru the FBI (as well as whatever Navy office Davis and Know come from). However, no character in "current" Twin Peaks has yet connected to anyone or thing in these other locations. I would suggest that the revelation that Ep 9 took place on 29 September in Twin Peaks (Brigg's scroll, Truman's "2 days from now") and 20 September in Twin Peaks (Hastings' dated signature on the Briggs photo) indicates that everyone else is operating about 9 days earlier than TP. This would suggest that we have much more time to tie up Vegas and other loose ends before most of the cast need arrive in Twin Peaks for their gateway-opening event.
I figure that Dougie's boss clenches his fist because it's some kind of little brainstorming ritual related to the fact that he's a retired boxer. So he's probably pretty comfortable with making fist punch gestures when he feels like it.

Another thing, In this episode's exterior plane scene - the tail identification numbers appear to be backwards. Maybe accidental, but curious after the "blinking windows" exterior of the same plane in a past episode.
Diane knows more than she is letting on, she definitely texted someone about "they haven't asked me yet", so she does know something about the secret organization called THE BLUE ROSE.
Pete, I don't know if anyone else said it yet, but Bill Hastings has written 9/29, not 9/20. It's a bit difficult to see because the line goes along the edge of the photo, but it's clearly visible once you know about it :) EDIT: Aaaaaaand there you said it yourself :) I shouldn't have paused when I did ;)
I liked the music group and the tune at the end of episode 9 a lot.The group Au Revoir Simone is amazing! Can't stop listening ...Sweet, innocent., fresh.... but in combination with Twin Peaks... dark. Sort of like LAura Palmer...
The closed caption says 29 not 20. You can also hear him say 29th. Also you can see upon closer inspection that the leg of the 9 draws all the way down through the photo next to it.
Hastings' date is clearly a 29, not a 20. Examine the shape of his first nine. The second one is identical, it just runs over the photo making the vertical leg portion tougher to see at a glance. Pete, have you or has anyone talked about the seemingly furtive gaze Tammy gives the 25 year old photo of Cooper in, I believe, episode 7? Felt like more than an investigator with a piece of evidence. I immediately wondered whether they might be setting up a Tammy/Cooper romantic angle. Twin Peaks owes a ton to Film Noir, it's shot through with homages including character names like "Gordon Cole", and one of the most iconic golden age Noir movies is about a detective falling in love with an image of the presumably dead subject of the investigation whose name (and the name of the film) is... "Laura".
Harvey Sharp, I have to laugh because I write exactly like this, often adding flourishes at abstract points. When I saw him BH write it I thought, whoa that looks like I wrote that. I'm sure it's a 9.
I think it says 9/20. There is consistency in the way people write numbers. Tammy made a point of "signing and dating" the circle of Briggs so I would think this date is important. It could also be that Hastings is so out of it that he doesn't know what the date is. He could have been arrested on the 20th.
I couldn't avoid linking the red moon/sun/sphere in the drawing to Jacoby's glasses ... :P Quite probably it's nothing haha And scuba diving might be a funny reference to Scooby Doo's movie, where Lillard played Shaggy.

Whatever happened to the trucker owner who Deputy Andy was suppoed to meet at 4:30? How can that story just disappear? How can a child dies and story just stops like that? I am little frustrated with many unresolved stories like this. I am not necesssarily trying to tie in everything but I felt this was meaningful plot.
Yes I agree. A whole day has gone by since then and Andy is just using the time to argue with Lucy about a chair colour. I think that maybe the hit and run victim's mother wouldn't be too impressed with the investigation into it.
Has Bushnell perhaps had some Blue Rose dealings, and this is sort of a subconscious muscle memory thing? Or a way to relieve his need to be silent? You would think then he would notify Cole, but maybe by now so many people have turned that he trusts no one. Or maybe he knows nothing about Blue Rose but these symbols are being...transmitted to him somehow...or some sort of collective unconscious thing.

Or better yet, watch that whole movie - Things are very much interlinked :) . You get to understand the significant role Laura Palmer player in TP and the positive role that she was in this world. Remember that scene in Ep 8 with the white glowing ball with Laura's face inside it? She might have been some sort of a hidden angel/had angelic protection (as revealed in the final scene of Fire Walk With Me) And most importantly, this upcoming Episode 10 is named "Laura" some thing. WIsh you the best!

Johnny Horne was played by two actors...one in the pilot and the other in season 1 & 2. ...also...distraught,Bill signs the photo-but when he signs the "0",he drags his pen and hand away causing the sideways "drag. streak" on the photo...also...his 9's and 0's are completely different...his 9 looks like a deflating baloon on a stick as opposed to his 0 that looks clearly like a zero. ..Good video.

Dougie Cooper also was staring at the electrical outlet, in addition to the flag and the high heels. What's the significance there other than that's how he entered this world back in episode three?
I think the part where Dougie is looking at the flag with the music playing in the background (albeit, faintly) is a flashback/memory of Cooper's (possibly an FBI graduation ceremony?). Just an idea.
Outside Beyond Exactly, i pictured his FBI oath. He was then distracted by the red heels, which was ironic because that's what Audrey wore, and he told her they couldnt be a couple because of his oath.
The date is clearly 9/29 -- the stem of the 9 is parallel with the edge of the picture to the right of the number, and it's sloppily written, but it's not just a "little leg" as Pete says in the video, it's a long stroke, double the size of the other numbers, as if written with a flourish.
Bill Hastings was incredibly distraught and vulnerable during the interrogation scene, so it's reasonable that his hand may have been shaking causing him to mess up his writing. There is a line connected on the right hand side of the 0, just a little further out so his hand may have shook causing it to be a little more messy than the first 9.
There's a very long leg on the 9, and he says "29" in the episode, you can hear it. I wondered why most the guys in the pic didn't have military uniforms on?
I know this could be far fetched, but maybe Bushnell Mullins knew about Dougie's having been manufactured and it could be that he works or worked in some capacity with the FBI (or some other agency) and had been meant to keep an eye on this doppelganger. It might explain why he's so nonplused about Dougie's strange behavior. I think about the scene where Dougie Coop was examining the poster in his office of "Battling Bud" and made a fist himself. Maybe he recognizes a younger Mullins from his days in the FBI, especially if he'd worked in the same capacity as Lil. It might also explain his shock but sudden understanding of Dougie Coop's scribbling on the case files, maybe they didn't have anything at all to do with Tony (that could be a red herring) but more to do with MIKE's warning which immediately preceded it. Mullins' shock might have been due to the sudden realization that Coop had returned in Dougie's place. That might explain why ever since, he's taken such a vested interest in Dougie, is looking out for him. Maybe the "code" if it were a code, in the meeting with the Fusco's was meant for Cooper to see, in the hopes that it would get through to him, if he knows that he's in there somewhere...thoughts?
Alex C I didn't think much of the Bushnell angle until people starting theorizing about his fist gesturing....now it's got me wondering. I thought the Fuscos mentioned that Dougie's info not existing before '97 included an SSN. If Bushnell hired him with no SSN on file then there's at least partial collaboration or collusion going on there. Janey is probably the one filing taxes but somebody besides the cops knows something's wrong here.
Charles Smith Dougie could also be a contract employer, meaning though he's technically working "for" the company, he is in reality his own employer. In this type of arrangement, the contract employee is responsible for filling out his own Social Security and even witholding taxes, if any. Also, you don't technically have to pay into Social Security under this scenario, though of course you will draw nothing fromm SS on retirement.
My theory is that Bushnell is a Freemason (the fist thing) and that the Fusco brothers are clueless as they are not picking up on Masonic signs. Bushnell will probably have more success with Dougie Jones if and when he tries to use a Masonic signal - this based on Jones' preoccupation with drawing ladders and other symbols on paper.

Who would have thunk it way back when that Major Briggs would be the key player in this whole game. He had obviously visited the future and knew that both Mrs. Briggs and Bobby would live long enough to exchange the code at precisely that period in time (just prior to the events scheduled to transpire on 10/1 & 10/2). He is the all-knowing entity in the wacky TP world. I love how much my brain hurts trying to piece the clues/theories together after each and every episode...

Some things that seemed interesting to me: 1) Diane's fingernails in the close up of the phone are white, red, and black. I thought this was an interesting parallel to the White and Black lodges seperated by the Red Room. 2)"That Zebra's out again" made me think of Yipes Stripes gum. Perhaps that gum Cooper likes is coming back in style. 3) Chad had a bowl of Garmonbozia?

In the scene where Major Briggs "delivers the message" to Agent Cooper showing him those coordinates, Cooper asks why he's showing this to him, and Major Briggs then points to the next part and says, "Cooper Cooper Cooper." If memory serves, the episode clearly shows it appearing three times before the numbers begin again. I think that scene is isolated here on TH-cam.

Everyone assumes that Evil Coop manufactured Dougie, but I think ??????? (The Giant) created him. He's Cooper in the White Lodge's version of the witness protection program. Look how everyone around him guides and helps and protects him, plus his house is full of gold stuff which makes me think of ???????. Is he in a special protected reality? Also, Sonny-Jim is definitely linked to the room service waiter character from S2E1, who was later linked to The Giant. If you go back and watch, just before we see Sonny-Jim for the first time, Dougie gets out of bed and holds his stomach in the same place Cooper was shot in S1E8 (and Evil Coop in S3E8), then Sonny-Jim gives him the same thumbs-up and smile that the Waiter did.

Just not exactly sure if it's Mike leading him along/laying the framework for him to be safe, or bigger things at play like the Giant pulling the strings. I agree about people trying to help and protect Dougie/Coop. But I still think Bob/Coop manufactured or had someone/thing manufacture Dougie; directly to avoid him from having to go back to the Lodge. I think Coop was set to leave the Black Lodge no matter what; Bob just found a way around him going back by making this Dougie character.
But I also think there's still more going on with who/where/how exactly Bob/Coop is right now. And also with the doppleganger of the Arm, which is another thing to think about but I don't hear it mentioned hardly at all.
in the Secret History there's a description made by Nixon of two meetings, one with the 'Nodic' type aliens in which they offer advanced tech in exchange for the US disarming it's nukes, which is declined by the US, and another meeting between another set of beings who offer up advanced tech in exchange for 'genetic material', this offer is accepted. That makes me think the more sinister characters are behind whatever manufacturing of people is happening.
Corey But how or why does he look just like Coop before he became Dougie Coop? I haven't seen any of S3 or the last 4 episodes of S2 so I have what may seem like silly questions. Like are more than one Coop ever in the same space? Or scene?
Could the different dates mean that the events in Dakota are set in one timeline (the one from the original show), events in Vegas in another (the one from the Secret History) and the events in Twin Peaks are from both timelines. This could explain Andy not checking up on the hit and run suspect he was suppose to meet, Hawk not telling anyone about his visit to the Lodge entrance, the change of scenery within the same scene in the diner after the guy shouts where's Bill, and finally, it could explain the mystery box in Argentina that imploded after Bad Coop dials it - maybe Bad Coop uses it to communicate with the phones in the second timeline.
I was thinking about different time lines too. I mean, how long has Jerry been out in the woods for? And Janey-E said she was going to take Dougie to the doctor after Mullins gave him the rest of the day off. But we got to the end of the episode, as usual at night at the road house, and still no doctor's for Dougie. Maybe he had to make an appointment. It does feel like certain scenes are continuously playing catch up to certain storylines. .

The paper that read "Cooper/Cooper" dates back to season two right after Leland died I believe. Briggs said his job was classified, but part of his job was to listen to transmissions from deep space. Most of the time it's nothing until that one day when clearly it read Cooper. I'm curious if way back in the original run if this use of two Coopers was intended to set up season three (which they were planning to do and had been working on plot lines)?

I'm sorry, but the bottom of Diane's phone screen does not say "iMessage" or "IMessage". It is simply a blinking cursor in front of the word "Message". Some phones say "Message" and some say "Enter message". Just take a look at the input field of the text screen of your own smartphone. I do agree about the sloppily written 9 though.

It doesn't say "Message" Also, the blinking cursor on an iPhone is blue, not a faded grey. Diane received a message that was sent using the internet but Cooper's phone had no internet access. Ergo, it's not a text from Cooper. I don't think it's an error but a deliberate choice.

I've gotten strange texts from unknown people before...anyway, I hope there's nothing for Tammy to have to see through.

Twin Peaks Fans : I've a few lingering questions: 1) What does the Zebra/Penguin signify? (Zebra = Patters on a bubble gum? or the patterns inside the Lodge Waiting room>? Or something else)
2) What does the rash under the girl's arm-pit signify? I cant think of a parallel anywhere in the TP show where someone had a rash....Is there some more general meaning that Rashes signify? Something linked to drug abuse?
3) Is there any relevance for Dr Jacoby so far? Outside of him being some youtuber/tele salesman, is there anything of merit in your mind?

I am now convinced that there is not one idle detail on this show. Everything on the screen is there for a purpose. Not necesssarily a narrative purpose. It could be aesthetic, symbolical or personal. (How about that framed photo that got knocked down with Johnny?) These other purposes make it difficult to nitpick and assign value or meaning to each detail. But we are suckers for it, and Lynch knows that. He connects with us by challenging our senses.

anyone notice evil Cooper got shot twice (center of chest and lower left side of his body) but only had one bullet hole upon arriving to the "farm". seems the woodsmen healed the bullet hole and Bob making sure some "planned greater purpose" is carried out? maybe they needed to make sure evil Cooper stays with Bob (if Bob is even still with him) just a thought...
During the Buckhorn scene there's a painting of a horse behind the desk. There's a horse statue on the desk and a horse sculpture hanging by the doorway when the man comes in to collect evidence and talks about finding Ike. In episode 8 we hear the distant sound of horses as the woodsman disappears.
In the website search for the zone, if you click on the coordinates you get a video of a place who looks a lot like the convenience store in part 8. Same pole on the left of the window, a signal that it's impossible to read but with two words, the second of which has 5 letters, some kind of object on the right that makes a very similar light to the telephone in the convenience store scene.
Also, in Major Briggs's message, next to the symbol we saw in the Ace of spades card, there's another one, like a red sun. Maybe something to do with all the red ballons in Vegas?
It makes sense that the time frame of the town of Twin Peaks is off from Vegas and South Dakota. Ben Horne received the key in what was the next day for Dougie. It was sent in regular mail, out of state, and was I can't get a next day letter from up the street.

Hi Pete, just rewatched the scene from Season 2 Episode 2 when Major Briggs delivers this message to Cooper and it shows the paper as the Major is reading "Cooper, Cooper, Cooper.." you can clearly see there are five that are shown. Just to address your question where the person got 5 from. Great question about Dougie's boss making odd gestures, I was wondering about that, figured Lynch was trying to convey something but I had no idea, still don't but glad you addressed that odd moment. I think that the upper/lower-case "AROUND THE DINNER TABLE.." is a continuity error. Look at Mr C's phone when he removes the tracking devices from the car (and how he does it), or Diane's phone when she tries to check her messages on the plane. There will be no subtle clues in phone UIs in this series.

In an interview question inquiring about the “119 woman”, Frost coyly commented that Black Lodge inhabitants sometimes speak backwards, implying that the meaning was the emergency number 911. Not sure what it all means.
My theory on Mullins - remember when Coop said that he was a "strong sender?" Well, Mullins might be getting some subconscious signals from Coop, which compell him to do certain things. He did meticulously check all of the case files despite just seeing doodles at first, and now he's reacting to the Fuscos using Gordon's code, without realising it.
Hastings says "...nine." Pretty sure, anyhow.

When Briggs first showed Cooper the message in season two you can clearly see 'Cooper' at least 5 times - the last is cut off and there could even be more iterations after that. I agree with the fact Briggs cut out two because he knew about Doppelganger Coop and was attempting to relay a message.
That second piece of paper with the two coopers written on it is the same piece of paper that major Briggs showed coop in the 2nd season saying that was gibberish from space.
I had to rewatch that Hastings scene a couple of times as well, and I noticed that his hand movement definitely makes a 9, not 0. Also, if you look closely at the date Hastings signs, you see that the "little leg" you mentioned actually goes all the way down to the bottom left corner of picture 5. Just a weird 9 I guess!

I agree, also I don't think it changes much as SD story arc is mostly tied up with LV because of the two Coopers and not necessarily with TP. Imho if you wanna look for a significant non lined up timeline take a look at the scene in which Andy he's waiting for the farmer. There's a close up of his Rolex and a 10 where the day of the month is indicated. That might mean that it has yet to happen and Richard killing the boy is also something from the future (maybe he stole the farmer's truck, so he wasn't able to go to the meeting with Andy). Also, if that's true it will happen after the date in Major Briggs message

Contrary to everything I've read from several TH-cam recap videos on this episode (including this one), I don't think it's hard at all to see that there is a single split in timelines between Twin Peaks and every other "current-day" venue.
Early on, due to mistaking Richard Horne for Ray, I struggled to understand how "he" could dash between TP & Buckhorn. In the process, I noticed that (other than my error which I finally noticed by ep 6 or so), absolutely nothing that happens in Twin Peaks is tied to any other storyline yet (as of episode 11), but all other locations ARE tied together.
* The Lodge ties to Las Vegas (Coop's replacing Dougie) and the road to Yankton (EvilCoop's car accident).
* The glass box in NYC ties to the Lodge, the oceanside/space room, and Vegas (Coop's journey) and to Philadelphia (Tammy's investigation).
* Buckhorn, thru (EvilCoop's adventures, ties to Yankton, EC's recent burial/resurrection, and Las Vegas (from EC's calls to Duncan Todd), and to Philadelphia thru the FBI (as well as whatever Navy office Davis and Know come from).
However, no character in "current" Twin Peaks has yet connected to anyone or thing in these other locations.
I would suggest that the revelation that Ep 9 took place on 29 September in Twin Peaks (Brigg's scroll, Truman's "2 days from now") and 20 September in Twin Peaks (Hastings' dated signature on the Briggs photo) indicates that everyone else is operating about 9 days earlier than TP. This would suggest that we have much more time to tie up Vegas and other loose ends before most of the cast need arrive in Twin Peaks for their gateway-opening event.
I figure that Dougie's boss clenches his fist because it's some kind of little brainstorming ritual related to the fact that he's a retired boxer. So he's probably pretty comfortable with making fist punch gestures when he feels like it.

The closed caption says 29 not 20. You can also hear him say 29th. Also you can see upon closer inspection that the leg of the 9 draws all the way down through the photo next to it.
Hastings' date is clearly a 29, not a 20. Examine the shape of his first nine. The second one is identical, it just runs over the photo making the vertical leg portion tougher to see at a glance.
Pete, have you or has anyone talked about the seemingly furtive gaze Tammy gives the 25 year old photo of Cooper in, I believe, episode 7? Felt like more than an investigator with a piece of evidence. I immediately wondered whether they might be setting up a Tammy/Cooper romantic angle. Twin Peaks owes a ton to Film Noir, it's shot through with homages including character names like "Gordon Cole", and one of the most iconic golden age Noir movies is about a detective falling in love with an image of the presumably dead subject of the investigation whose name (and the name of the film) is... I think it says 9/20. There is consistency in the way people write numbers. Tammy made a point of "signing and dating" the circle of Briggs so I would think this date is important. It could also be that Hastings is so out of it that he doesn't know what the date is. He could have been arrested on the 20th.

Whatever happened to the trucker owner who Deputy Andy was suppoed to meet at 4:30? How can that story just disappear? How can a child dies and story just stops like that? I am little frustrated with many unresolved stories like this. I am not necesssarily trying to tie in everything but I felt this was meaningful plot.

Has Bushnell perhaps had some Blue Rose dealings, and this is sort of a subconscious muscle memory thing? Or a way to relieve his need to be silent? You would think then he would notify Cole, but maybe by now so many people have turned that he trusts no one. Or maybe he knows nothing about Blue Rose but these symbols are being...transmitted to him somehow...or some sort of collective unconscious thing.

Remember that scene in Ep 8 with the white glowing ball with Laura's face inside it? She might have been some sort of a hidden angel/had angelic protection (as revealed in the final scene of Fire Walk With Me) And most importantly, this upcoming Episode 10 is named "Laura" some thing. The date is clearly 9/29 -- the stem of the 9 is parallel with the edge of the picture to the right of the number, and it's sloppily written, but it's not just a "little leg" as Pete says in the video, it's a long stroke, double the size of the other numbers, as if written with a flourish.

Bill Hastings was incredibly distraught and vulnerable during the interrogation scene, so it's reasonable that his hand may have been shaking causing him to mess up his writing. There is a line connected on the right hand side of the 0, just a little further out so his hand may have shook causing it to be a little more messy than the first 9.
There's a very long leg on the 9, and he says "29" in the episode, you can hear it. I wondered why most the guys in the pic didn't have military uniforms on?

I know this could be far fetched, but maybe Bushnell Mullins knew about Dougie's having been manufactured and it could be that he works or worked in some capacity with the FBI (or some other agency) and had been meant to keep an eye on this doppelganger. It might explain why he's so nonplused about Dougie's strange behavior. I think about the scene where Dougie Coop was examining the poster in his office of "Battling Bud" and made a fist himself. Maybe he recognizes a younger Mullins from his days in the FBI, especially if he'd worked in the same capacity as Lil. It might also explain his shock but sudden understanding of Dougie Coop's scribbling on the case files, maybe they didn't have anything at all to do with Tony (that could be a red herring) but more to do with MIKE's warning which immediately preceded it. Mullins' shock might have been due to the sudden realization that Coop had returned in Dougie's place. That might explain why ever since, he's taken such a vested interest in Dougie, is looking out for him. Maybe the "code" if it were a code, in the meeting with the Fusco's was meant for Cooper to see, in the hopes that it would get through to him, if he knows that he's in there somewhere...thoughts?
Alex C I didn't think much of the Bushnell angle until people starting theorizing about his fist gesturing....now it's got me wondering. I thought the Fuscos mentioned that Dougie's info not existing before '97 included an SSN. If Bushnell hired him with no SSN on file then there's at least partial collaboration or collusion going on there. Janey is probably the one filing taxes but somebody besides the cops knows something's wrong here.
Charles Smith Dougie could also be a contract employer, meaning though he's technically working "for" the company, he is in reality his own employer. In this type of arrangement, the contract employee is responsible for filling out his own Social Security and even witholding taxes, if any. Also, you don't technically have to pay into Social Security under this scenario, though of course you will draw nothing fromm SS on retirement.

My theory is that Bushnell is a Freemason (the fist thing) and that the Fusco brothers are clueless as they are not picking up on Masonic signs. Bushnell will probably have more success with Dougie Jones if and when he tries to use a Masonic signal - this based on Jones' preoccupation with drawing ladders and other symbols on paper.
