    Love doing these drawing with you. I screen shot your photos and then I can use edit to turn them upside down or zoom a little to see more detail. Always love your selection of portraits . Thanks so much. It’s fun and challenging .

    Could you include it when you do the initial line drawing? Thank you for all the delicate, inspiring content 🌱

      Welcome :) What did you find helpful?

      @@drawwithchris the subtle value changes in the light side of the face to help sculpt it, using your knowledge of anatomy rather than relying on the image.
      It was also helpful to just watch your process. I am fairly new to your channel but I recognised you from the NMA beginners course :)
      I am fairly confident with my figure drawing to the extent that I feel I am ready to start studying anatomy. However, my head drawing is lacking in comparison, though I have improved a lot this past month. Watching your videos is helping too :)

    This is exactly how I want to draw portraits!
    How do I improve my portrait skills? By drawing faces more or are there any other ways?

    • @drawwithchris

      Good idea thank you. If you have my life drawing book there is a section on dexterity exercises

    What technique are you using to exaggerate his features.

    Very cool, my biggest problem from observing is getting right proportion. Because if you got it right everything looks in place. Mostly I don't get it right. Are there any advice on that? Maybe I should be using grids for guide?

    • @drawwithchris
      @drawwithchris  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I try to get the vertical, and horizontal 1/2s right first then the 1/3rds. There's a video on this my live stream archive

      @@drawwithchris Thank you sir. I checked your other videos, I got some ideas out of it indeed, Plus I am kind a curious...do you feel that you are already mastered the drawing or do you still see ways to improve? You have lots of knowledge indeed.

    I just have one question, what if you can't find a feature to exaggerate? Maybe this is because I can't observe well but still

    • @drawwithchris
      @drawwithchris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. Some people do have “plain” faces

    • @keremaldemir2579
      @keremaldemir2579 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drawwithchris So what do you recommend for those kind of faces?

  • @yinglu1229
    @yinglu1229 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a question Chris: Is "exaggerate" means i don't have to draw exactly same proportion of the photo? I always trying to copy 100% of the photo, that is wrong?

    • @drawwithchris
      @drawwithchris  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exaggeration is a way to interpret the subject. It's better to interpret than to just copy

    Consistently getting good facial likenesses (or inability to) is probably the main thing that has kept me from really trying to make a living off my work.
