I beg to differ. All ive got from it is video that looks dead and lifeless compared to even my Redmi Note 5 phone video. Lifeless pale and dull video. Like severely underexposed look, even the ones in bright sunlight look like theres an ND filter on, muted. Bought to do some real estate style architectural videos which dont need bouncing auto focus response etc.
Hi, I just want to say thank you for taking time out to post this settings. You've given me a very good reason why I should go for Panasonic G7. I was about to pay a thousand six hundred euros (1,600) for a camera that is not up to this standard. So, thanks once again!
I love that you really do this to help people and share you can really tell it's genuine but please become an Amazon affiliate just like everyone else. You deserve it brother $ 💯
Steve Sherlock Thank you very much I truly appreciate it. I try to teach what I know as much as I can. Also thanks for the advice on becoming an Amazon affiliate I will definitely be setting that up soon!
Awesome video! I also have the G7 and the 25mm 1.7 When I use it with the Crane M, even though the footage is smooth there is a slight shake left to right on it. The Crane is fully balanced on all axises and has no shake when I use the kit lens? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you so much for this video. I changed my setting to match yours exactly. The vast majority of my videos will be in my home with me sitting at a dest either discussing what happened in the video or showing what I am doing with a voice over. Very easy to follow. I tried two others before yours as I was just picking at random and did not make it past the first two minutes.
I saw your video I will be getting the panasonic lumix g7 very soon thanks for sharing your camera setting it will be a great guide for me to become a great video director down the road one love
good video mate, i don't understand, i see that you film with in 60 fps in 1080p , how do you do ? i have the exact same camera and i can only film in 50 fps maximum in 1080p and 25fps in 4K instead of 30 fps, i wanted to know why ? i'm from france btw, keep working man its great work !
+Sam Richon From my understanding only the US models have 1080p 60fps & international models of the camera only go up to 50fps. I has to do with region standards of NTSC for the US & PAL for other regions. I was accidentally sent an international version and had to hack it to get 60fps. Theres plenty of tutorials here on youtube on how to hack the G7 to get 60fps.
To get a blurry background you need to have a lense with a low f-stop/aperture number such as a 1.8. In bright coniditions an ND filter may be needed also to keep your shutter speed down.
Lawd you were moving so fast in this video. I have to rewind a few times as I did my camera settings like yours! I have the G85 though. Think the main functionality difference was the IS.
Just Kamahari Thanks for the feedback I truly appreciate it. I'll definitely slow down next time lol. I want my tutorials to be easy to understand so you made a great point.
THANK YOU ...I REALLY APPRECIATE IT...SO I AM TRYING TO FIND another video about the auto zoom on this thing...when the camera is sitting...and just zooms in slowly by itself...you know how to do this??
Great vid -- always like checking out what settings others are using. I shoot with the GX85, so do not have cine-d, but instead use portrait with everything dialed down to -5. The portrait setting has surprisingly good amount of dynamic range retained as compared to the standard profile, without losing good color data (especially for skintones). What software do you use for your editing? I personally have always used Premiere Pro, but am starting to experiment with Davinci Resolve.
Jack of All Trades Thank you so much for checking me out & I use premiere pro as well I definitely want to dive into Davinci Resolve myself I always see and hear good things about it. I just have to work & prep myself up to the learning curve of it lol
Hey thank you for checking me out. For this particular video I used the panasonic 25mm 1.7. For my music videos my main lense is the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8.
Hi, I just changed my setting for my g7 to your settings but for some reason after I finished adjusting everything, I wanted to try out how it would look when filming a video but for some reason when I was trying to record it was pitch black you could see a little bit but barley anything . I checked my filter mode and it had no effect. Wondering if you could help me out , that would be nice:)?
Sounds like you may need to adjust your aperture, iso or shutter speed depending on your lighting situation especially if you switched to Manual Mode. My film settings are just a baseline based on the look I'm trying to achieve.
Eric Watson Yes I use a gimbal. I use the DJI Ronin-M and on occasions I use the Zhiyun Crane. I would definitely recommend it for sure. Just make sure when you make your purchase of the G7 on Amazon that's it's the US version. A lot of retailers are selling the international version at a cheaper price and not informing their customers. The international version has to be hacked in order to get 1080p 60fps.
Szia! Én most vettem egy kamerát a biciklibótból már lenne vagy 4 munkám is a szakáli gyerek már mopst fizetne de nem tudom hogy kell videózni. légyszives segits bro
Eric Watson I personally don't think so. The compression in the IPhone X vs. The G7 will be far more extreme when it comes down to the final product. For TH-cam I think it will be great but for more serious work such as short films, music videos etc. the IPhone won't have the flexibility that's needed for such projects
Do you really think cineD is the best setting? In my opinion it fcks up the midtones loads of times when I try to properly grade it....do you still use CineD?
+davidbrkvc I think its the best only for my needs to have flexibility in post. As far as the midtones I used to have the problem all the time. The key to fixing it is getting a good white balance with a grey card or expodisc and nailing the exposure so your midtones sit at the right IRE levels.
Thanks a lot cuz, just outta curiosity, at 10:05 where you show us shutter speed, there's (+3) at the bottom of screen "between 160(shutter speed) and 800(ISO) for some reason my g7 is on negative 3, was wondering what that is and how to change it. Thanks
LA music Your video is underexposed. Theres three solutions, make the aperture bigger, increase ISO or turn down shutter, the mark should be in the middle, thats when it's properly exposed
Wilhelm Hansson thanks buddy, you are right.. at the moment I have got kit lens, I thinks is around f/4.4 which is a tit when it comes to low light, can't wait for my 50mm f/1.7 to arrive. Thanks for that reply tho, appreciate it 👍🏾
I have a question brother, I use the g7 and when I adapt an external screen I can not see while I'm recording it only works for me to see before recording or after finishing the recording but not at the exact moment of the recording could you tell me how to configure this
I just got the G7. I'm completely new to cameras but set my settings exactly like yours. But now when I go outside the camera screen is just pure white? Why can't I see anything when I go outside? Can you help me out? I have the 25mm 1.7 and the lens kit as well.
Yo Man My settings from this video are a baseline for cinematic footage. You would still need to expose your camera by adjusting your aperture and iso and or shutter speed settings accordingly if needed to get a proper exposed image. What your experiencing is an overexposed image because some settings need to be adjusted.
SWMedia One more thing, how do you keep the camera in focus while being so close to the person? If it's manual setting, how do you control that? With the focus ring the whole time?
Please can somebody tell me if there's a way to view the a video you've just recorded in slow motion...im just converting from Canon cameras so forgive me for sounding dumb😣 I know that Canon t5i ect. Has a slowmotion option that lets you slow the video down in playback but I just can't seem to find it on this one... or is it just impossible on the g7??
Go to the Custom Menu (the little wrench with the "c") and check your Silent Mode setting. It should be "OFF" I have mine on OFF and just changed it to ON and the "beep" got greyed out. Silent Mode OFF = Unmuted Silent Mode ON = Muted Have fun!
How do I edit the footage ? I ised proxies to be able to edit quicker but now the footage got cut in half literally and when i export it looks the same
MusicCompletes Thanks for checking me out I really appreciate it!!!!! I've been busy with so many projects but I'll have the vlogs coming real soon for sure.
You may have the international version of the G7. Since your camera is probably in pal format there is a hack that you can switch it over to NTSC format to have FHD 60p. Just search Panasonic G7 hack here on TH-cam and you should be able to find it.

thanks for the effort and the sharing. what other color profile would you use if you want straight out of the camera footage? thumbs up.
smalltalk.productions I would go for the Natural color profile. It has the best true to life colors.
thx for the video, helped me a lot! ps: what do you think about 14-140 lens? is it good?
This is the best straight forward on setting

do you do any sharpening in post if so how much?

whats up man , real great content!
great video bro
