This is the only video I have found that really explains focus options well! He's a good teacher. So many others know what they are doing, but are poor teachers.
thank you so much for this video! i have a g7 and wanted to use it as a webcam for gaming videos, but was so confused on how to make it look nice. your other video where you showed how to set it up as a webcam helped so much! thanks i appreciate this keep up the good work.
Got the Panasonic G95/90 and the panasonic 8-18 2.4-4.0... a pain in the ass to make it focus on my face and on the "closer subject" at the same time, I feel like smashing it into the ground.
Hey, thanks for your content. I recently acquired a G7 and found you when searching for more information on how to use it well. I've done a lot more mobile photography as I have the Pixel 6 Pro but as someone who loves photography I'm finding phones, while they take great photos, can be limited artistically. Thanks for providing content to inspire me to keep learning with an actual camera!
thank your for this! ill continue to create content to help people who are on the journey like you! if you have any suggestions or specific questions please don't hesitate to drop a comment!
Hi Seez. This video was very helpful for me for using my new G7. THANK YOU!! I bought it to take quality pics of my aquarium fish. I also want to finally learn the technicalities of photography. Can you recommend settings and videos that will quickly get me started with aquarium photography?
Just what I was looking for. Overall I love the Panasonic MFT system, but can use all the help I can get to keep improving. Plus, it’s always great to have another good channel to come to. Keep up the great work.
I did everything you said to get the settings right. I am brightly lit in front of a green screen. I walk around the back of the camera and come and sit back down. There is no face detection, just rock solid blur. It’s not even trying to autofocus, whether I wave my arms, move my face back and forward etc. it has been like this since I purchased this camera years ago.
Great video and crazy in depth, useful to really explain the auto focus settings. I am using this with the Elgato CamLink as a webcam and I couldn't find a way to keep an auto focus WITHOUT physically recording -- Your explaination of the tracking mode was like a brain pop, using this, the camera can actively change focus WITHOUT recording. Thanks for the great video man.
Thank you for this! Do you or does anyone know if there's a way to get the autofocus to automatically adjust if I'm moving? Or even just once on a delay so I can film alone like 10 feet from the camera and know I'm in focus?
Hi Santos, your video is really nice: tomorrow night I'll try your settings, because in my channel I'm starting to make video reviews and the problem I have is that when I set and press rec, then I have to move in front of the camera and the video is not in focus at the end: I tried to pilot the Lumix via wifi with the App, but the button on the mobile phone that starts the rec does not allow first to focus (half a click to understand) and then a whole click to make start the video, so at a distance of about 2 meters I can't see if I'm in focus or not (always when I'm in front of the camera with the screen turned), do you have a suggestion to solve this problem? What kind of autofocus do you recommend to stand still at a certain distance in front of the Lumix and obviously be in focus? Thanks, Alberto.
my g7 is constantly autofocusing when im livestreaming. i do have it set to AFC, so i get why it does that, but it's adjusting for brightness and clarity and never really stops. so it brings down the quality of the stream when its always adjusting. how do i get it to adjust to my exact specs and stop?
If you are looking to track a bride or groom I would suggest AFC with face and eye detection enabled. This will allow you to make sure that they are in focus.
Still loving all your videos! I was curious what you think is the best mode to be in when shooting real estate photography when attempting to get entire rooms in the best focus possible? Thanks!
Great video! I just got mine and am looking to get driving footage. Got some at 4k and had some blur when changing speeds. Hoping to try autofocus continous at a lower resolution helps
Hey! Do you know how to turn on manual focus assist that pops up while recording video? I swear when I first bought my camera, I had the ability while filming to have that zoom in box to see what’s focused better then I messed around with settings and it’s not. My MF assist is on but it must be something else.
Great video. Still contemplating the G7 as my first camera. One thing to ask... I've seen so many videos complaining about the auto focus etc. If I was to shoot outdoor scenes in video or even indoor club type scenes. Can you not just set the manual focus to a mid point say and not really worry about it? It seems the complaints are always vloggibg close up headshot movements etc
Thanks for the comment! And yea one of the big issues with this camera system is the lack of a modern PDAF system. The contrast AF is speedy and quick when your shooting in HD. But in 4K it’s not reliable if your moving around a lot or if your subject is moving. I shoot manual and use focus peaking to see what’s in focus. So for those indoor club scenes you can get away with using this. Your just going to need to practice pulling focus! 👏
Hello Sir I have Panasonic Lumix G85 camera and I have 14 140 mm lens But when I use this lens in 14mm my Camera Is Not proper Focus Is Time to time focus hunting..
I find that autofocus for me for some reason does not work once I press record. As long as it is not recording for some reason it works well. But once I press record it struggles to find the subject. I have to press the button halfway to get it to refocus but it does not follow the subject on its own. Any advice?
@@SeezSantos I have continuous af mode enabled and i have it on tracking. I tap on the screen to focus on subject and it locks on and follows well unless I start recording. I took it out of 4K mode and tried it on 1080p to see if that helped but nothing. Do you think maybe its a problem with the camera itself? Thanks for the quick reply
at the 5:15 mark of this video i explain the issue your having, With the the 14-140 kit lens it does an ok job at tracking. if you go into the MOTION PICTURE settings on page 2/5 there is also another selection to have "continous AF" on. You see this one? Make sure this is on. it sounds like its staying locked in also make sure you not on Autofocus single mode as well.
I still cannot get the camera to focus on my face. My face is always blurry. I am using the same lens you demonstrated on as well. The worst is that while I am filming the in-camera monitor is so small that I cannot really check as I am filming, it's after I've finished and I am going to edit the video that I see all my footage is unusable. I just made some adjustments after watching this video, and ran a test but I am still blurry. I have one beauty video up on my channel and you can see what I mean.
When you say you have the same lens you are referring to the Panasonic 14-140 correct? After watching your video it seems like the focus never moved at all. As if continuous AF is off ? Are you sure your in the right AF mode? 🤔
@@SeezSantos thank you so much for watching! Thanks to you I figured out that I needed to have the face/eye detection on in AFC mode, I think I fixed it and was able to upload a video that's actually in focus hahahaa. I appreciate you so much!!
Your video is not consistent. You are explaining Auto Focus settings for Video and not Photo and I therefore had trouble following along. For example, you can only set AFF/AFS for Motion Picture.
Great video! Just bought a G7 and these videos are exactly what I need
Thank you for this! Keeps me pumped to make more content around this camera!

Hello from New York City! What is the difference between AFC and AFF? . Thank you for your informative video.
@seezsantos Great tutorial! What lens did you shoot this video with? And what settings are configured: iso, frame rate, shutter, f stop, etc?
As far as the G7 what are the best focus settings for streaming ? I know the focus is hard on this camera
So what focus point would you recommend with the g7 on a gimbal ? Tracking or 1-area ?
So how do you actually “pull focus”? It’s a very important thing to know but you don’t mention how to do it.
thanks, just grabbed this camera open box from best buy for $375 plus tax. excited to get to learn how to use it
Wow great deal!!

Best setting for taking fashion pictures for instagram? I want to have focus on the person with creamy background 🤔
Thank you, This really helped!
What's the best autofocus setting for continuous movement say filming a wedding?
If you are looking to track a bride or groom I would suggest AFC with face and eye detection enabled. This will allow you to make sure that they are in focus.
49 area would also be a great mode to use where the scene your shooting has a lot of persons of interest that need to be in focus.

Are the focus same on the G85?
The G85 has a better AF but it's still flawed.
