Very handy. If you fix and then unfix does it go back to the last fixed numbering order? Can you manually reorder BOM listings and then fix them to stay arranged? How would you recommend grouping components such as purchased, manufactured and hardware? Our current numbering scheme allows us to do that because we have an item number but we're going to eventually change our numbering. Maybe using a vendor column in the BOM?
When you Fix and Unfix, it goes back to whatever is the Sort order. By default that is the leftmost column that is not an Index column. The only way to reorder manually is by creating a part-level parameter and sorting by that. Most people don't want to do that. If you want to organize components by source, see my video on Bulk Items. You will apply the same concept. Create a parameter for source and then have separate Repeat Regions based on that parameter.
Because typically consumers of the BOM don't care what order the component appears in the Model Tree. You could probably find some complicated method of adding a component parameter and sorting by that, but it would be tedious and most likely provide little value. What are you looking to get by having the components in Model Tree order?
I was looking for the same thing so parts are easier to find in the exploded view by going up numerically from left to right. balloons are usually scrambled making parts hard to find from the table

Its my pleasure to learn from this channel.I request you to guide me to create snapping lines (connection line) in exploded view...can you help me?
See my video on Explode States.
@@CADPLMGuy i've tried to find that one...but cant get it..can you please share the link?..it will helps me a lot..thanks in advance.
Why isn't the index sorted by the order that the component is placed in the assembly, and how can we configure the index such that it is?
