As great as Judy Davis is in this, it was Tammy Blanchard playing young Judy Garland that totally blew me away. During her interview here, I still couldn't stop being amazed at how much she looks like Judy Garland, on top of how perfectly she got Garland's voice and mannerisms in the movie.
For the record, Judy Davis was horrified at having to play the Meet Me In St Louis number, knowing that her more world weary version of Garland did not at all match the classic chipper Garland of that film that became such an iconic image. To her credit, Judy Davis expressed dismay that Tammy Blanchard was not given the chance to play out Garland's life during the St Louis era, allowing her to pick up the role from Liza's infancy. The producers are to blame for a creative misfire, NOT Ms Davis.
Tammy shudve been Judy thru age 30 at least. Sadly, they had to go with Judy Davis at meet me in st louie scene. Too soon . too soon. Otherwise, amazing
So authentic. By far the best portrayal of Judy Garland and her life that's been done. It's hard to put into words the quality she had, but this movie really does the best job of capturing it that I've seen. There will never be another like her. I love her dearly to this day, even knowing the good and bad of her. Ya gotta admit-- she got us. Right through the mind and the heart.
How in the hell would she know? Streep didn't know Judy Garland. Plus Judy Davis is a bitch. Look up the bio on River Phoenix. She's an entitled skank that treated him like shit because she thinks she's better than everyone else. She's a freaking snob! Can't stand Judy Davis!
Both Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis were amazing in their portrayals of Judy Garland. When I first watched the movie I kept forgetting it wasn't really Judy.
Happy 15th anniversary to this gut wrenching and sentimental miniseries! It is truly touching how Lorna Luft set out to explore the real story behind her mama's turbulent real life journey down the yellow brick road.
I agree. People can quibble about when the transition between actresses took place but I think they did it at the right time for this production. Just my humble opinion. I'm a Garland fan and a Davis fan and the moment I first saw her, I became a Tammy Blanchard fan.
I think they switched over to Judy David too soon in the movie ... Tammy should have played Garland up through the making of Meet Me in St. Louis, including the Trolley Song recreation ... Davis was great overall! But looked way too old to be Judy in Meet Me in St. Louis, in my opinion.
it makes me cry too baby I love Judy too the death because she was so lovely and very beauuuuuuutiful too watch on TV and even all of her TV shows as well their will never ever be another actress like her again but just in thoughts treasure all of those wonderful beautiful moments and memories of her and keep them in your heart okay sweetness god bless you and yours love Andrew jr😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.
Loved the movie and loved love Judy ! She had so much wit humor and was so gifted as a singer actress wonderful sweet lady !! Been a fan since age 7 ! I am almost 64!
I saw Tammy Blanchard on Law and Order: SVU, and I couldn't believe how much she looked like Judy Garland. I actually looked her after seeing the episode she was in, just to find out if she was some relative of Judy Garland I'd never heard of.
the second lady they got to play her did a good ACTING job but I couldn't get into her playing just garland the first one took me allllll the way there I wasn't even expecting that!
Tammy was so wonderfully cast as teen Judy! She not only had the look, but the spunk and the outgoing, gutsy nature I've read that Judy had. The fact that she's seven inches taller than Judy was makes little to no difference!
Why don't we see more of Judy Davis TODAY???? Now adays it is mostly all about who will look like who will sell the most. Disturbing.T. Thank You so much, Judy Davis. T.
Judy Davis, and Tammy Blanchard both, did a remarkable job! Almost everyone in the movie, looked like the real life people, especially, Liza's teenage and adult actresses.
great movie when I look at things like this I realize in the time Judy lived in she did the best she could with what she had no body made it easy for her she was a fighter we love ya Judy
Tammy Blancher was great as a young Judy Garland. She was Judy Garland with her looks and the expression on her face of Judy Garland. Loved her portrayal of Judy Garland. Judy Davis as a middle age Judy Garland was also a great on the part she played. The people who picked the actor did a great job. The move was very well done. I loved Judy Garland moves since I was a child. She was a great actor and a great singer.
@mkrobinson95 I completely agree! I was so caught off guard when Meet Me in St Louis happened. She should have been at the peak of her beauty there, and the switch was to soon!
This is a great movie. Judy Davis did a terrific job potraying Judy Garland. I believe Judy Garland would be pleased appreciate the work that was put into this movie to potray her life. Beautiful piece of work.
HIs name is Victor Garber, and he's one of the most underappreciated successful actors living today. This man's dramatic range is unbelievable. :) He has convincingly played everything from a notorious vilain to a family man with a heart of gold.
Just finished watching the movie and I loved it the actors are outstanding, Judy Davis was amazing, the whole time I thought I was seeing Judy Garland!!! Just fantastic.
I mean by that, that Tammy should play young judy again, so we can see what happened after Girl Crazy and that horrible man Busby Berkeley the dumb ass director bully! Then see what happened & get a more of an insight of her being fired from MGM by Louis. My personal script: Scene moves into Judy/Tammy in hospital after filming first week of Girl Crazy 1943, then when she gets out, she is asked into Mr Meyers Office and is told she has 3 days to recover then she's back on the lot for filming Meet Me in Louis and Meets Vincente Minelli (not the Hugh Laurie version) I'd say Darren Criss?? then goes on to do extra scenes with Summer Stock. Mmm thats a thought...they never covered Sumner Stock in Me & My Shadow movie 2001!! 🤔🤔
Too bad this wasn't a feature film. Lorna should've insisted, like Loretta Lynn. They originally wanted to film her autobiography as a TV mini-series, but she put her foot down and pretty much told them, "Theatrical release or no movie at all." Good thing, too, 'cause we might've missed out on Sissy Spacek's Oscar-winning portrayal in COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER. I have a theory that had this been a major motion picture, Davis would've been nominated for and likely have won the Oscar.
For any other bio-pics that come along, I don't think they'll find another girl that will resemble Judy as much as Tammy Blanchard did. It is just uncanny.
Had to be an incredible , moving experience for Lorna to watch the years before she knew her as her mother while being filmed . so much crammed in to 47 years ,
Frightening how close BOTH actresses resemble Judy Garland. -- And then, they can actually ACT too! It would be like finding a guy who looks just like Freddie Mercury -- and THEN finding out he sounds just like him when he sings?! Very cool (and creepy).
There is one of those 'how did they die' with reconstruction videos/clips and the guy who did Freddie Mercury was quite good. Forget what it's called, google it.
I'm still not convinced Judy Davis didn't contact the dead and have Judy Garland's spirit possess her for this film. It's so much like Judy Garland that it's eerie. Same with Tammy.
Ms. Davis is nothing less than brilliant as Judy Garland. And she is a stunner! I also enjoyed Tammy Blanchard's performance, too. She was a rose in full bloom.
at 4:50 OMG, TAMMY LOOKS JUST LIKE HER! I HAD CHILLS! That was spooky. THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE, I remember when it came on TV I remember crying because it was so good. :) RIP JUDY LOVE YOU!
Just as a precious rare rough diamond, one blow, can either make a brilliant gem, or turn the stone to dust.💎 imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
As much as I hate to disagree with Meryl Streep, this was Tammy Blanchard's movie. When Judy Davis arrived, the energy and believability of the film took a precipitous drop, you could feel it instantly. As great as an actor as Davis is, and her spot-on lip syncing delivery, Tammy was SPECTACULAR in this movie... her profile, her passion, her persona was simply mind blowing. In some shots, she looked and moved so much like Garland that it took my breath away. I only wonder what would have happened if they let Blanchard take the movie all the way, from youth to adulthood.
I'm glad to have the dvd! And also here, seeing the interview with Tammy Blanchard: it is as if they are interviewing the real, younger Judy. Unbelievable! Respect for the makers of this film and everybody involved in this, although tragic, but realistic tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of the 20th century ❤
It doesn't matter who did when, what, wherefore or why or whatsoever. This Production, in spite of research, writing, brilliant acting (!), stage design, COSTUME... Is simply a thrilling treat to dive into an era and a tragic figure. To bring an Icon biography on the screen is always a dangerous challenge. friendsfamilyaccount Judy Garland herself said in an interview that she was mostly just scared of her mother. So, I don't know...it might not be that far from the truth.
i loved tammy as judy and judy davis did a great job as well but i have to agree with some of the comments below. it would of been better if tammy played judy all through the meet me in st.louis. judy davis just looks too old to play a 22 year old. she would of been better off playing judy garland after liza was born. but just like messylin said, its not her fault for this.

I felt that the biopic was very well done. All the actors that portrayed Judy were great, especially Judy Davis. I have watched this a number of times and am still not tired of it. Garland was great, so is her daughter Liza. I would love to see a biopic on Liza. Did you know that Liza made a promise to her mother never to sing Over The Rainbow and to this day has kept that promise (at least to my knowledge)?
@KevinRRose1 I totally agree. That should have been the last Tammy Blanchard moment in the film. Not to say that Judy Davis isn't brilliant, it was just too early.
I thought Judy Davis was good but somewhat over the top in her mannerisms of Judy when singing. A bit too dramatic as if Judy was saying look how great I am, Judy never acted like that.
Tammy, if it weren't for her teeth (not that they're bad, just different than Judy's), would be a clone of Garland. It's her eyes. Judy had these almost trademark eyes.
Ms Davis was very good as Judy, BUT, I do believe they switched to her to soon. Ms Davis looked much older than the 21/22 year old Judy. And her mannerisms were a little over board. She looked a little Robotish doing Judy's hand gestures. Lorna's story was fore the most part was very good, but, I don't think that she was totally honest about where Judy's money went. I understand that Lorna loved both her parents, but, we're did the money go?
As great as Judy Davis is in this, it was Tammy Blanchard playing young Judy Garland that totally blew me away. During her interview here, I still couldn't stop being amazed at how much she looks like Judy Garland, on top of how perfectly she got Garland's voice and mannerisms in the movie.

Messylin I concur
Whole-heartedly agree with this....otherwise this was a wonderful film which I felt did Judy's story justice.
Tammy shudve been Judy thru age 30 at least. Sadly, they had to go with Judy Davis at meet me in st louie scene. Too soon . too soon. Otherwise, amazing
I agree
According to the DVD commentary they had her come in early because they saw her marriage to Minnelli as the beginning of her adult life
Truly the best biography type movie I've ever seen. Judy Davis knocked it out of the park!
Incredible!!!
She was fantastic!
So authentic. By far the best portrayal of Judy Garland and her life that's been done. It's hard to put into words the quality she had, but this movie really does the best job of capturing it that I've seen. There will never be another like her. "Nobody has put a performance on film better than Judy Davis in the Judy Garland Story." - Meryl Streep
Yea Judy Davis was wonderful too
How in the hell would she know? Streep didn't know Judy Garland. Plus Judy Davis is a bitch. Look up the bio on River Phoenix. She's an entitled skank that treated him like shit because she thinks she's better than everyone else. She's a freaking snob! Can't stand Judy Davis!
Kimmy Hawk River Phoenix was on drugs when he made that movie with Judy, I’m glad she told him off.
I love movies like this
Both Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis were amazing in their portrayals of Judy Garland. When I first watched the movie I kept forgetting it wasn't really Judy.
Exactly they both did excellent performances
Happy 15th anniversary to this gut wrenching and sentimental miniseries! It is truly touching how Lorna Luft set out to explore the real story behind her mama's turbulent real life journey down the yellow brick road.
15 years already?? Now yet another movie about Judy Garland is coming out. 2019.
Michele Conley Eckert The movie was AMAZING. Renee did an AMAZING job and no one could replace that
FEAR_HuNtEr_GaMeR I will think about it
Manuel Orozco I honestly wish I was born back then in her era. I never met her, but I miss her dearly.
FEAR_HuNtEr_GaMeR I don’t blame you. I wish so too
They did a fantastic job with both actresses playing Judy Garland.
couldn't agree more!
+Vlad Sicoe I think they both deserved their Emmys for their performances.
I agree. People can quibble about when the transition between actresses took place but I think they did it at the right time for this production. Just my humble opinion.
I'm a Garland fan and a Davis fan and the moment I first saw her, I became a Tammy Blanchard fan.
Okyes
When Blanchard stepped on the screen as Dorothy I immediately went to the comment section to see if this was the real Judy Garland. I was shook!!!
they needed to keep Tammy on longer in the role, and have Judy Davis take over later on in the film
joey josephs I think Davis should have played her later on
Agreed.
Yes! I AGREE! Part 1/ Tammy and Part 2/ Judy. I think it would have been better!
I think they switched over to Judy David too soon in the movie ... Tammy should have played Garland up through the making of Meet Me in St. Louis, including the Trolley Song recreation ... Davis was great overall! But looked way too old to be Judy in Meet Me in St. Louis, in my opinion.
mkrobinson95 agreed!
I concur!
Yes
Yes, it was hard to watch the switch that soon, plus Tammy was killing it as young Judy
I AGREE WITH YOU! TAMMY PART 1 AND JUDY PART 2.
Loved it from start to finish,You really believed it was the real Judy.
Last of the great made for TV biopics. Loved, loved, loved this.
This made me cry! I am such a big fan of Judy Garland!
it makes me cry too baby I love Judy too the death because she was so lovely and very beauuuuuuutiful too watch on TV and even all of her TV shows as well their will never ever be another actress like her again but just in thoughts treasure all of those wonderful beautiful moments and memories of her and keep them in your heart okay sweetness god bless you and yours love Andrew jr😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭.
Emmys well earned for both Judy and Tammy.

DAMN ! Tammy Is young Judy Garland.
Judy Davis's interpretation of Judy Garland as written by her daughter is right on .
Ms. Davis has the same nervous ticks as Garland had
Judy Davis' is Darling. Proud to have her as an Aussie!
Its so great that Lorna made sure that her mom's story was told in the book and then this wonderful and touching mini-series1
the second lady they got to play her did a good ACTING job but I couldn't get into her playing just garland the first one took me allllll the way there I wasn't even expecting that!

great movie when I look at things like this I realize in the time Judy lived in she did the best she could with what she had no body made it easy for her she was a fighter we love ya Judy
Tammy looks so much like young Judy somebody should do a split screen to compare, I am sure it would be very close.
Tammy Blancher was great as a young Judy Garland. She was Judy Garland with her looks and the expression on her face of Judy Garland. Loved her portrayal of Judy Garland. This is a great movie. Judy Davis did a terrific job potraying Judy Garland. I believe Judy Garland would be pleased appreciate the work that was put into this movie to potray her life. Beautiful piece of work.

TheSeekerBabe and he’s openly gay too.
He did a little movie called Titanic back in ‘97
Remember: Victor Garber was JESUS in " Godspell ".....Check it out !!!!!!!!
Just finished watching the movie and I loved it the actors are outstanding, Judy Davis was amazing, the whole time I thought I was seeing Judy Garland!!! Just fantastic.
I love movies like this
Tammy should have played the “Meet Me in St Louis “ sequence
I think they should bring another biopic movie with Tammy called "Wish upon a star"??
I mean by that, that Tammy should play young judy again, so we can see what happened after Girl Crazy and that horrible man Busby Berkeley the dumb ass director bully! I think Brendon Urie could probably do that
There is a bio pic film coming out in November 2018, about Queen/Freddie Mercury. There are trailers of it on youtube x
Is she doing all the singing?
Judy Garland was truly a bubbly and wide-eyed optimistic teen, then Hollywood ruined her.
I'm still not convinced Judy Davis didn't contact the dead and have Judy Garland's spirit possess her for this film. It's so much like Judy Garland that it's eerie. Same with Tammy.
I just filmed am episode of The Big C with Tammy yesterday! She was the nicest person I ever met!
Michael I. Haber Oh you're so fuckin special.
Henry Jackson Jealous much?
Ms. Davis is nothing less than brilliant as Judy Garland. And she is a stunner! I also enjoyed Tammy Blanchard's performance, too. She was a rose in full bloom.
Tammy did look a lot like judy in tje wizard of oz scenes
Tammy was amazing really so like how she looked when she was young
I miss 90s TV movies.
this was early 2000s
Judy Davis you are amazing in this role!
at 4:50 OMG, TAMMY LOOKS JUST LIKE HER! I HAD CHILLS! That was spooky. THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE, I remember when it came on TV I remember crying because it was so good. :) RIP JUDY LOVE YOU!

What bullshit. Judy Davis was utterly astonishing in this.
Blanchard as a haggard, exhausted, "washed up" Judy Garland ? You don't say !
@@xxxxxxxxx3944
Which is why they cast the much older Davis in that role, genius.
I remember when they had auditions for this movie, i actually saw a add for it, but didn't go for it haha. She is so much better!! Purely amazing.
She did a fabulous job playing Judy!
I don't think anyone will, or can, ever be as great as Judy Davis
playing Judy Garland.
Loved Judy s wit humor and she was the best singer actress awesome lady around
Tammy did a great job as young Judy, thought I was actually was watching the real thing.
(See Vilsmeyers "Marlene" Flop)
But I adored this "Judy Garland" Story. It couldn't be done better!
To mention, that this Lady gives us Joy until today might be superfluous.
I only would LOVE to see this film in German!!!
Both Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis were excellent although I will say that Judy Davis resembles Judy Garland more, but Tammy does look more Garlanesque than Kris Jenner lookslike Liza Minnelli
You're kidding! Blanchard is practically Young Judy's doppelganger!
Tammy looks exactly like the young Judy Garland. This was an unbelievable movie. Judy Davis did a magnificent job. I wish someone would put on You Tube the Over the Rainbow segment on - it was the most amazing performance ever!
it's so cool how much tammy blanchard looks like her!
she looks just like judy my goodness :)
this is the definitive movie on Judy by her daughter - its a must see !
Judy Davis, the way she turns as shes talking in the interview looks almost like Garland. I believe when Davis performs as Judy Garland, she has the spirit of Garland inside her! 😁🎤🎶🎵👍❤️ She was on fire when she sang both Dixie Melody and The Man that Got Away.
sorry for the typo. What I had said is that this was an amazing mini series! I had a little trouble with Ethel Gumm being portrayed as positively evil it seemed (the smirk as her husband lay dying?) But it was phenomenal anyway-both actresses really captured the soul of it!
friendsfamilyaccount Judy Garland herself said in an interview that she was mostly just scared of her mother. So, I don't know...it might not be that far from the truth.
It's too funny but when I first watched Judy in THE REF, I immediately thought she looked exactly like Judy Garland!!!❤️
I think Tammy was significantly better
Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis look so much like Judy Garland !! It's remarkable....!! They both did a fabulous job playing Judy Garland.
i loved tammy as judy and judy davis did a great job as well but i have to agree with some of the comments below. it would of been better if tammy played judy all through the meet me in st.louis. judy davis just looks too old to play a 22 year old. she would of been better off playing judy garland after liza was born. but just like messylin said, its not her fault for this.
ForeverJudyGarland I agree
Thank you so much for posting!
Oh my gosh, at 5:35 I thought that WAS Judy! Wow!
It was weird but I was in high school when this aired (in Australia) and all the kids were raving about the younger actress looking freakishly like young Judy Garland.
Of course, this was at the start of a very unusual year.
I love this movie and i have alwaysed loved Judy Garland!!!
This movie was just stunning !!
Judy Davis’ lip syncing is on key!!!
she almost looks exactly like judy, and has her same actions aswell! amazing
How are you feeling today Julie Garland its 8:53 how are you feeling
Also they should have made her older Garland by the time they shot The Pirate then A Star is born.
There's no use judging the look. Her performance was incredible.
I felt that the biopic was very well done. All the actors that portrayed Judy were great, especially Judy Davis. I have watched this a number of times and am still not tired of it. Garland was great, so is her daughter Liza. I would love to see a biopic on Liza. The actresses looked exactly like Judy! Beautiful tribute. I'm a fan of Judy Garland & Lorna Luft. Loved Lorna in Grease 2.
Tammy looks so much like Judy. wouldn't surprise me if they were distantly related tbh....
@KevinRRose1 I totally agree. That should have been the last Tammy Blanchard moment in the film. Not to say that Judy Davis isn't brilliant, it was just too early.
Great Performances By Everyone In This Movie 👍
I just finished watching I loved it
I thought Judy Davis was good but somewhat over the top in her mannerisms of Judy when singing. A bit too dramatic as if Judy was saying look how great I am, Judy never acted like that.
Tammy should've played Judy throughout the whole thing.
Maybe that was the director's view and not the actress?
I agree. I thought Judy Davis overacted the singing parts. Judy was VERY humble and never acted stuck-up or "look at me because I know I'm great"
@@georgelong9782 I think they wanted to do their own take on the singing. They didn't want to do a verbatim replica of the musical numbers.
Amazing!!! Judy Davis is tops!!
I really liked this movie. I thought all the actors did a great job.
Great production; Judy Davis was BRILLIANT!
Tammy, if it weren't for her teeth (not that they're bad, just different than Judy's), would be a clone of Garland. It's her eyes. Judy had these almost trademark eyes.
Id love to see the whole movie.... is it posted?
One word- SPECTACULAR
Both actors did a stunning job, it doesn't matter. It's a great production.
I love Tammy she looks sooo much like Judy

Yes they should have kept Tammy Blanchard longer....
Judy was stunning. She looks so much like Garland. Judy is the BEST!
wow tammy and judy look so much like judy garland! they truly captured the essence of her
