From where you got this Information that Portuguese stopped this festival? Even if this kind of celebration happened, it was not stopped by the Portuguese but people got converted to Roman catholicism an stopped this kind of celebrations. This people who are celebrating this festival don't belong to that villages but migrated there from other villages of goa during Portuguese rule.

To know about various cultures and their history is my favourite subject, but honestly I'd never heard about Shigmo or Intruz, since Goa was always in my bucket list and Ethereal is my favourite channel it is not possible for me to skip this video. In my layman's mind, I always pictured Goa as a land of beaches, churches and laid back life, but you helped me see a little bit more than that... for that I want to thank you.

Not only shigmotsav, Portuguese restricted many Hindus rituals. Even they restricted Hindus from taking bath in early morning. Portuguese made life of Hindus miserable for 450 years, only those Hindus used to get privilege who were ready to convert their religion to Christianity.
Few kilometres from Dongrim there is basilica bom Jesus church which was built by demolishing Shiva temple. Unknowingly some Hindu brothers and sisters go to pray near Francis Xavier who was mass murderer of Hindus and founder of court of inquisition barbaric in goa, where those Hindus were tortured who were not ready to convert.
History of goa is kept hidden for some political and religious issue but truth prevails.

@@Dr_Analise what's wrong in accepting the atrocities on your ancestors? Of course there was caste system and Hindus come clean with it, it's not like Goans went to Portugal seeking salvation and you won't be excommunicated from the Roman catholic church, because of accepting the truth. Both the groups along with Muslims did wrong. Do you also shy away when you hear cases of numerous priests ra*ing nuns or Killin the indigenous, which is basically a norm? Of course, they gave you a new identity but almost killed your language.

It is sad to see Gomantak people to have suffered it for such a long time yet came out as winner. Inquisition is the worst thing ever happened to mankind and to non believers. Even Hitler had some spine and limited attrocitise as compared to Portuguese inquisition. A lot of sad stories of inquisition, lights fire of love and respect for Gomantak people. Your last win and tough one is Susegad - Portuguese inserted this to make people lazy and useless drinking all the time. Please follow Karma, as per Bhagwad Gita, no body can defeat you friends. Need to promote Gomantak more for temples, culture and rituals rather than Sun, Sand and susegad.

U should come to Ponda/Fonnyea, Mulgao, Shirgao etc to see Native Goan Hindu culture
It was under Maratha and Sultanate with minimal interference from Portuguese and came under Portuguese Goa only in late 1880s after temple protection treaty between Marathas and Portuguese

    • @AmSha-cb2pn

@@snaik9141 True. Because there are abrahmic and jihadi conspiracy to divide us as north, east ,west ,south etc. This is taught in missionary schools, so that we hate or make fun of our own people. Goa is promoted as place for sun, sand, beaches and churches only, it's a big conspiracy to cover the gomantaks culture and atrocities on them. Someday some where the truth will erupt .Susegad was a Portuguese abrahmic propaganda to make the people lazy and addicted to wine against the Hindus strong belief in Karma. That's why it's not a Goamantak language word.
