Love hearing Joe's take on this. Growing up, he was my favorite Super Middleweight Champ and retired undefeated. Love seeing so many comments acknowledge him, he truly was underrated, especially here in the States.

@@loncho5079 As impressive as that is, he only fought 5 times in super middleweight. His best wins were from Plant and Callum. Callum was very good but not considered a great super middleweight. Plant was also very good, but still not as experienced. Saunders's best wins were in middleweight. I hope don't take this as me disrespecting Canelo.

Great analysis, Plant gave a great account of himself as well but Canelo is now separating himself from anyone. Hate that he has all of the PED controversy around him because that’s the only thing that blemishes his greatness for me. Can’t wait to see Plant back in the room. The PED controversy has been nullified ..The NSAC stated in very clear terms that a hair follicle test was ordered ..Alvarez complied and the results supported his declaration of innocence. Only controversy survives is by the half-truths propogated by his detractors

His body hadn’t matured yet, and he was only one weight class above Floyd, since Floyd was fighting at 147 at the time, also Canelo was weight drained, with a clause on the contract that Canelo couldn’t exceed 154. Calzaghe is a big and tall guy. Canelo is only 5’7 KO guys 6ft up and guys that are naturally bigger than him. That’s more impressive, he’s even KOing them. KOing Kovalev is more impressive than beating a washed Hopkins.
