I remember when I first played super Mario odyssey, I thought the huge hill under the pyramid was just a hole and If I fell it would kill me.

If SM RPG and the sewers from Sunshine count, then Rogueport Underground from TTYD should be here too. In fact. I’d put it at #1 easily. The gradual exploration, the secrets, the music, the atmosphere... just amazing.

Those are some good picks! I like the love for Hazy Maze Cave, I've heard some don't like it so much, but I think it's pretty cool. If we were to add Mario Kart into the mix, I'd go with Piranha Plant Slide

@Carl Hecktor there are a few caves,but there were only like 1 or 2 moons or something. I'd love to see a kingdom expand on underground exploration. Maybe Mario falls down a hole,and has to get a bunch of moons to power something that will let him leave,or something, idk

I think 4-2 is more iconic than 1-2. It’s a gateway to the final world in super mario bros, by far the most dangerous part to the game

Fun fact: Hazy Maze Cave is called Horror Dungeon in the debug mode of the game and Dorrie was originally meant to be an enemy which eats Mario whenever he gets closer to him.

I honestly would have put World 5-3 from Super Paper Mario on this list, it was a lot of fun. Great list though. I have a love/hate relationship with Hazy Maze Cave. I love ALL of the parts, but HATE that Poisonous Maze area so much that it prevents the level from being one of my favs.
In Hazy Maze cave I hate the elevator part. The solution to the poisonous cave was pretty annoying

And the poisonous gas in the toxic maze is chlorine. I know that from its color. Plus if you were to breath in pure chlorine in real life, it would definitely harm you.
