You could colab in a tiny sling cube for the baby jumpers when Kat is ready. "Offical Tarantula Kat Jumping Cribs" sell them at a premium, who cares if anyone complains about the price. I might be better if I kept my idea to myself, but I'm tires and chatting tonight.
I do love Richard's cinematic editing, but I also love how casual you keep it. Every video feels like chilling in your living room talking about arachnids 💚🕷
both of the new spiders are So pretty! and the tape hack is going to come in handy for me, i have a tiny b. baumgartni that needs an upgrade but is too smol for the ventilation in most of what i have. so thank you
I know you don’t want to sell them at the size you did last time but I have 4 of yours from the last expo and they’re all still alive 🤣. I helicopter parented the heck out of them though checking on them everyday. Loved watching the little ant sized babies grow
That first spood OMG so stunning as a young-un and that picture of a mature one was the coolest looking T I've ever seen!! 😯😍 Look forward to the updates!!
So I’m actually super afraid of spiders. Watching your videos has helped me become more educated on tarantulas and spiders in general. I’m still not ready to have any spider friends occupying my apartment; however, I enjoy watching your videos with all your spider buddies. 😊
LOL. Im 40 years old and I used to go to Jr Herpetology shows all the time where they would not only sell reptiles but spiders and scorpions as well. At every show, there would be a corner where a someone would be selling all of the reptile and insect enclosures. And MAN, have they really stepped it up over the years. Those awesome plexiglass enclosures with magnet tops. All we had back in the day were fish tanks and plastic temporary tanks that had the plastic snap on tops that would ALWAYS BREAK. Or the fish tanks that had a plastic top with a screen on it that would also break with minimal time and effort applied to the top and that would basically be the Achilles heel of those enclosures. Then you’d have to come up with some sort of temporary top so your creepy crawlies wouldn’t get out! I wish they had these magnet top enclosures back in the day when I was big into snakes and insects. I lost SO MANY animals because they would figure out how to get out, either cutting through the screen or pushing the top off. I had a python that actually broke the nails from an enclosure I build myself and got out into our walls and died and we had to cut him out.. It sucked 😢.
The very first jumping spider I brought home turned out to be gravid and laid an eggsac… twice! Since my spouses one rule was “no babies” I brought them to a reptile shop once they hatched 😅 it was quite an adventure that we weren’t expecting (even tho little Daphne was…expecting)
I love my P. atrichomatus! the phormictopus species over all really, unfortunately likes to hide very often! but it makes the surprise sights so much more fun :') The colors they grow into are just beautiful.
Haha she’s probably wondering why her “up” is now the down. Lol loved this soooo much!! Definitely something ill be looking into doing when my spoods are ready for little ones(:
@@tarantulakat I think the way you have it she’s going to be a very comfortable momma. She has two layers of protections for her babies now cause of you 🥰
Maybe useful but I use the breathable medical tape for bandages to cover vent holes in my isopod bins, keeps fungus gnats at bay. Could work for the bb spooders?
I am so glad someone is finally talking about the Red Island. Be prepared it will grow FAST! Mine reached fbebinches after a year and their coloration is gorgeous as the become older! I love mine!
American jumping spiders are adorable. the UK jumpers are much smaller and have little zebra stripes [ where they get their name] but they are just as formidable at hunting
i caught small jumper over the summer and the hole on my t-crib look loke it would be too big so i bought screen repair strips and it adheres pretty strongly then u dnt have to worry about them getting stuck to the tape and offers better ventilation
Hi Tarantula Kat. Hope you're well. This video was so cool to watch. I'm so excited for the babies to come out. Just wondering, the moss you use, is it real or fake? I'm a newbie to having a jumping spider and I get mixed advice about how their enclosures should be. If I put moss but no substrate what are the requirements that you recommend in terms of the moisture needed. I have two jumping spiders and they came with made up enclosures but I would like to do my own design. Take care. Michaela x
The new jumping spider's big enclosure is nice, but I kinda dig the "dead fly hanging from piece of moss" aesthetic she has going on in the little one😅
@@rainbowcuppycakex so I was there both days but I got her Saturday. She was very expensive, but they said they were all captive bred. Finding an adult captive bred jumper is so rare I couldn’t pass it up 😭
I've kept Ts for 30 years, but I'm struggling a bit with enclosing jumpers, I have them around, and handle my wild ones in the yard, but they seem to like to travel more, idk, some will take over three or for potted plant areas. Maybe I feel they just deserve bigger enclosures after seeing how they are in the wild around the house. Either way, I know they will still live in these cribs, I see it all the time, however just can't help to wonder if they would just love more space. Of all the inverts, they certainly show the most give a f.
That’s an issue I wonder about too. I’m in Australia so our jumping spiders are nearly all on the small side 4-8mm. I have “befriended” quite a few in my area and noticed that the different species have quite diverse temperaments - some are very timid and invariably hide from you, some are indifferent to your presence and some are really curious and seem to enjoy interacting with you. I also noted that the males appear to roam a lot more while the females of certain species seem to stay in one area. I have kept one (Opisthoncus) long term as she decided to come home with me - I was photographing her and she jumped onto my hand and then refused to go back. She was so placid and content I would take her outside to jump around on my lemon tree and then she would come back to me to go back into her house.
"HECK YOU GIANT 2 LEGGED HUMAN THING! HECK U ALL TO HECK! I DONT WANT A NEW HOUSE I DONT WANT A WOOOORRRMMMMM. HECK OFF!" She/he was just not havin any of ur shit today! I like the fiesty ones. She was even mad at her enclosure when she first got in there. Tip toeing like shes having a "the floor is lava" moment 😂😂😂😂😂😂 3:42
New spider enthusiast here looking to get a jumping spider. I’m about to build the excluder this coming week. Do you need to use a special type of non toxic glue or is normal hot glue ok?
Yep. I heard you mention that in video. With the higher success rate, I feel the higher price is totally worth it! May I also ask where I could look for you to buy some jumpers?
I need help!!! I just checked on my jumping spider and i noticed eggs!? I haven’t bred her and I’ve actually been wanting to but she has eggs? I’ve had her for a couple weeks, idk if the people who sold her bred her or if it’s possible to have infertile eggs. What do you think? If they’re fertile that would awesome so I’m hoping they are
My mom wanted me to ask any Tarantula owners why this might have happened. "The problem came from when your sister broke up a dog fight and her tarantula terrarium was knocked down and shattered. The tarantula was ok but as it was picked up to be safe in a tote it didn't want to leave your sister's hand. She had a wound from the dog's fight and she noticed her tarantula was standing not just over it but on it with all it's feet collected on the wound. She thought it might bite her because of the blood but it didn't. It's mouth never touched the wound but it's feet were collected on it not spread out like normal. It was almost it was having a feeling of concern or protection and didn't want to leave." "That's your sister's thought but she loves her Mexican red haired tarantula and this may never have come up with the people you follow. Would love to get some feedback on their thoughts."

rewatching, I didn't like how messy the tape looked and all the folds, so I actually re-did that part to look better lol.
Did your beautiful new T eat her dinner?
@tarantula kat Would I find you around the Saint Louis area? I really love how beautiful that jumper is and wouldn't mind a sling!
How much are you going to sell the babys?. Because I might buy one from you 😊
What kind of moss did you use for the bottom of the new mama’s enclosure?
Frog moss.
Great timing, we just restocked the cubes! 🎉

So cute! I love the mushroom vibes 💗 🍄 💗 Question: Can the hot glue be peeled out of those enclosures later or does it damage them?
Did you make the wooden shelves yourself? Or where did you order them, please? 😊
