I''ve just decided that we don't need to be constrained by the traditional rules unless you just want to do so. It just keeps me from expressing my creativity. No more rules for me in the New Year! Well, a few. Thank you for the tutorial. It is just lovely.
So much great info here, thank you for this tutorial, it is so appreciated!! Beautiful painting. Can't wait to try my next one on an acrylic board, and not be afraid of using water.
I love your teaching and I’ve tried your water spray technique and I love it. I’ve adapted it! It’s so much easier and free from stressing if my tree will work or not! Thank you Jackie! 🎨 👍❤️👏
I was going to try to explain my thoughts and gratitude for this video that you’ve made, Jackie, but Renée, the cosmic ant from the south of France has really said it all. Truly, I couldn’t have made a more accurate and elegant comment than she. Well done to both of you! And thank you for this wonderful video, Jackie!
Thank you so much, Renée! Your comment is too generous and it made my morning. I appreciate it so so much. It is still wild to me that I’m able to connect with so many of you across the globe through the love of watercolor and especially landscapes. And 60 years is a wonderfully long time to be painting in watercolor; I can only imagine the skill and tips in your own tool box that you must have to share with us all. 🥰 Again, thank you so much for being here and for watching my videos and more importantly for leaving me a comment and sharing this with me so much gratitude. 🤍🌲🖤
Beautiful painting! I also stopped taping the paper and use exactly the same technique, I “glue” it with water to my easel and it’s easier to frame it later and put a very nice white border around ❤
A beautiful composition Jackie! I love how you go back in and work it. Refining is wonderful to me and I use it often though some are afraid of overworking. The great news is watercolor is so forgiving. Love your paintings.❤
I love your work. It's moving ! I think by using white , keeps you from having to mess with the black to much to get that certain look. It's a great choice. Love the look , very different. Thank you for making a tutorial and sharing yourself with us.
My husband and I are making a winter diorama for a friend. I needed a beautiful, moody, winter backdrop for the scene and have been feeling stuck. I made a simple “watercolor winter forest” search and your video was the first to pop up. PERFECT! So inspirational! With the simple techniques you’ve shown there are so many ways for me to use your tutorial to create the perfect backdrop. As a first time watcher (now subscribed), thank you so much for your creation of this art and even more for taking the time to video, edit, and share this with us here. Sincerely, Debrah.
Stunning painting and you’ve given some really good information. That white for the snow is such an amazing idea! Being a beginner there is so much I don’t know, and you’ve shown some really cool tricks here ❤
Beautiful! I just discovered you! So happy I did! Not only are your paintings beautiful but your explanations are so informative! And your voice is absolutely lovely!
Thank you for your beautiful watercolor painting. I so enjoyed your detailed explanations of your techniques. I learned some tips and tricks! Thank you again for your efforts and videos! Blessings!
😍👍 🌨️🌲🌲🌲❄️Beautiful landscape, Jackie! And a great opportunity to practise different techniques. 😉 I often use white paint too, and love the results!👌😊 Thank you so much for this great tutorial! 🙏 👏👏👏🥰🤗
I love this! The painting is beautiful, and I enjoyed watching all the techniques you used and shared. I'm going to give it a try. It won't be like your painting, but I'm giving it a try. As they say, "practice makes perfect." That's not really true, but it helps.🎨🌲
Bonjour.
Hi Jackie! This is stunning, will enjoy a version! I have actually found you a few days ago via Emma Lefebvre! And I’ve been binge watching your gorgeous misty paintings ever since! I’m not new to watercolour at all, but this spraying the paper for the fir trees is driving me nuts! Lots of practice but still a mess lol! Please help! Going to buy another mini spray bottle today😂🫣🤣
Hello Karen and welcome to my channel! So glad Emma mentioned me so you could find me :) I recommend trying different spray bottles since they all act differently. But it does take practice depending on the effects you want.
I thot you were over working the tree line...kept 'messing' with it... Lo and behold, the misty depths came out so perfect!! Apparently I've been underworking the backdrop...so thanks for showing me a better way. And the pallet knife trick for the rocky edge was a bonus. I'm going back to my drawing board...lol
First time I've seen using water on the back to "glue" the paper to the work surface. Payne's Gray and raw umber are favourites when I paint my West Coast gray scenes. I usually use acrylics but in thin glazes.
@@Sharon-bo2se ooh I hope you try it. I should look into trying raw umber. I’m so used to grabbing the burnt one. Thank you for sharing and for watching. 🌲🤍
@JackiePeacock will try the water "glue down", tape is such a pain on a good day. I know Paynes Gray is easy enough to make but I like having it handy and just modify as I go. The umbers are very useful when painting a lot of subjects. Time to dig out the paints.
Question for you, please! I was confused by the white paint portion. Did you fill in that entire “pond” area with white, or did you only swipe the white around here and there. Thank you!
Hi Jackie, I received my acrylic boards today using the link in the description. Did yours come with paper covers? If so, how did you get them off? They appear to be glued on. Also, your board looks a bit flexible, but mine are very hard. Did I get the wrong boards? Thanks for your help.❤️Rita
Yes there are two plastic sheets that you have to peel away on both sides. They are a bit hard to remove. Hopefully you’ve been able to do that. And my board is quite stiff. It should be the right boards unless Amazon decided to change them, but otherwise it’s the same link from when I bought mine. 🌲
I’ve gotten Arches cold press 140 lb in different sizes from Amazon. I didn’t see the 5x8 you used recently but they had some 6x10 which is sorta small landscape shaped. Others in much larger square shaped. All Arches. No, I don’t get a commission 😅

14x21cm
Why not leave the paper on the block?
They are separate sheets, but if it was a block I would for sure leave it. Much easier too
