@@StarryNightt. he really played the long con on that, even before the beef. he's been setting up all this evidence! I can't wait for him to strike down all the claims
Yeah, this is kinda amazing, lol. And I'm super glad I found this channel. I LOVE different types of analysis videos, like what Adam Neely does, or things like film analysis or even counter-reviews, like Th3Birdman's videos where he goes over how Cinema Sins has messed up. I do think the Professor here is kinda reaching with the thing about double negatives-that's very common vernacular in a context like this; "I ain't never did no schitt like that" Isn't something that'd confuse me. Although on the other hand, a huge thing folks bring up is the idea that Drake basically fakes aspects of multiple cultures he has little genuine connection to, so I guess you could argue it's not really fitting here since he's only speaking like that artificially. Plus, the exact phrasing used is arguably more opaque than the example I gave earlier…it probably would take me an extra sec to figure out what he's saying here. 😂😂 In any case, I find myself thinking of the response point to that, which is that we won't see "Drake" on such a list because they'd be using "Aubrey Graham" instead! And honestly it's kind of a weird way to even argue, on Drake's part. Saying it won't be on the list feels less like saying you didn't do it and more like saying you'll get away with it. 😭😭 Like bragging you won't ever see someone locked up no matter how many people they drop. 🤣😅
…Now I'm imagining someone comparing this to either Greek or Shakespearean tragedy. 😭😭😭 And hey, Greek would fit extra with all the susness being discussed. 😭😭
@@AhsokaJackson yeah I thought it was a bit of a stretch too, but I feel like it might also be possible that he was trying to say that it makes it more confusing and if youre trying to rid yourself of some serious allegations you should make it very clear what youre saying, more of in general than specifically drake.
@@AhsokaJackson he said this wasn't that big of an argument, but he just found it funny that you'd use double negative to deny a serious allegation when it's just gonna make it sound more confusing.
Nah the problem is you can’t say I gave him misinfo when it’s shit you already did. If I say you killed someone because you said it and you’ve never killed anyone then yeah you win. But if you’ve had 20 murder trials and got off on technicalities you feeding me mis-info isn’t a gotcha. Of course I wouldn’t verify it we all know you’ve done it already 😂
The only way the misinfo angle could've worked is if Drake did a meet the grahams and released a song about it shortly after or just had proof for the fake mole stuff which shouldn't be hard if he actually set it up. Because as it is now, it 100% feels like he just read that theory somewhere on the internet and decided to just try to run with it
@@nils3031that’s 100% what he did. No part about this beef was calculated. The only prep Drake did was all going into that family matters video and song, which was good, and would’ve worked if it didn’t get rolled over in 30 minutes. After that, he had nothing and it’s so painfully obvious
the fact that drake implies that wealth and fame are the reason he would not want to commit crime on a minor is what reveals what is really dark and disgusting about him.
lmao exactly, and the fact that he says that immediately after adressing the allegations looks like being famous is what is helping him do shit like that xD L drake
He didnt implies he is too wealthy to want to do this stuff, he said he is too famous to do them. You know this is interesting when you have a white gentleman wearing a 3 piece suit with a collection of books behind him, articulately analyzing a rap beef. Truly a legendary moment in hip hop.
I think Kendrick’s main goal in this is to get people to question drake’s credibility and authenticity. He knows that this won’t make drake obsolete but because of his songs whenever drake attempts to rap about anything that insinuates that he’s ‘tough’/ gang affiliated it won’t be taken as seriously
I think people with more than two fingers of forehead didn't take those type of lyrics seriously already, they come off as really goofy and childish, it's just that a lot of minors are impressed with that kind of stuff and mature people either listen to better stuff or listen to Drake superficially, like a quick fix, like fast food. My two cents on that....
This prof is GenX, has seen, heard and probably been a fan of rap and hip hop since it all started. He's OG, been on the net to the start, he knows strongbad and homestar runner. Surprised he didn't equate Kendrick to "Trogdor!"
Him saying "I'm to famous to be a pdf file"...That line convinced me he 100% is. This is exactly how a manipulative person who thinks they're really slick lies. To the T
It also shows just how disconnected the man is from culture as a whole. Like, Weinstein was 5+ years ago at this point, and we've only been seeing more rich and powerful people getting called out for PDF file shit
I think Drake is making Drake look stupid by mentioning it. You have no evidence and only mentioned duping Kendrick after it was trending online. So he made himself look dumb in his own song. Kendrick is the true manipulator by making Drake reveal himself.
Yes, so much this. I couldn’t believe how much of a self own it was to do that. And after the “rapping like you’re trying to free the slaves” which I found offensive even as a non-Black person. Essentially, Kdot is playing Drake like a fiddle. It’s entertaining and horrifying - and truly exciting - to witness.
He basically trying to dismiss everything Kendrick said by suggesting he had trauma regarding the same thing. I know it probably meant little to nothing to Kendrick but imagine being a SA survivor and hearing that not only is it a taint on your identity and worthy of being ridiculed for, but perpetuate one of the greatest issues which is that SA survivors struggle to speak out against their abusers...
On savior Kendrick likens himself to Kodak who had an assault case and recently had plead guilty by admitting to beating women .That whole album Kendrick is alluding to hitting his women. On the song "His pain" Bj the chicago KId ft Kendrick He outright says "I hit my women and she hit the floor" I’m rocking with Drizzy.
Even though Drake did misunderstand the song, if someone is trying to convince the world that you are a sexual predator then the gloves are completely off. Once Kendrick crossed that line, absolutely nothing is off limits.
You can see Drake fans are not real hip hop fan or don’t understand it, Kendrick said on not like that: the audience not dumb shape the story how you want hey Drake they’re not slow
Ironic because the professor doesn't understand the angle that Drake is making Kendrick relive the trauma of no one believing he avoided being molested
Making fun of someone for being molested while being accused of being a pedophile isn’t the best response. Which is even more crazy when you realize he MISUNDERSTOOD 'Mother I' entirely... Its ironically, the most accurate portrayal of the Drake fanbase entirely - superficial, illiterate and lacking any willingness to truly engage with the art form they are supposedly fans of.
Not sure if you were making a One Dance joke here, but either way I figured I'd keep it rolling by saying that he probably also has Hennessy in his hand.
And he’s done it multiple times What gets me is like bro we have been talking about you doing this FOR YEARS and NOBODY CARED, there have been whole ass videos made about you on SEVERAL OCCASIONS and I would tell my man about whatever video I watched, he wouldn’t believe me Then Kendrick says it and suddenly everyone’s listening 🥰 I’ll take it

I honestly think Drake calling the track "The Heart Part 6" is a huge mistake. The 'Heart' series is all about Kendrick immortalising himself in Hip Hop history through this intimate, evolving autobiography, detailing his problems, triumphs, aspirations etc. This current chapter is Kendrick trying to axe the biggest name in the game in Drake and he's managed to get so far inside Drakes head, in a desperate attempt to get one up on Kendrick, Drake himself has immortalised his biggest failure of this beef as just the next/current part in Kendrick's story... 🤯 A chapter which Drake uses to expose himself as an idiot, a nastier piece of work than he pretends to be and a hypocrite. It's the inverse of a usual 'The Heart' entry - as opposed to introspection and honesty, it's denial and obscufation. It's the proof that Drake is nothing like Kendrick at all - Not Like Us. Admitting he's a liar and a manipulator but in the same breath lies about things that are, at least to a degree, demonstrably true about him. (You can watch the proof on TH-cam of him kissing that 17 year old girl multiple times and verbalising how much he enjoyed the feel of her bre*sts...all AFTER learning she was 17). In response to Kendrick's relentless onslaught is this incoherent, contradictory, nasty, victim-blaming ramble in which he verbally concedes (whether he means it or not). All while sounding physically exhausted. It's a breakdown in song format. This chapter of Kendrick's story was the destruction of Drake - the biggest problem in hip hop (from Kendricks perspective). Drake co-authored his own demise...

Even knowing the double negative is a key part of AAE and AAVE; I also agree with your analysis of not using it if you’re in a defensive position 🤣 Great breakdown overall 🔥 I also caught the Mother I Sober misquote in TH6 since that was my favorite song off of MMATBS.
I found the bar strange cause it's essentially "I'm too rich and famous to like kids and if i did i would've been caught already because im so rich and famous" and a friend brought it to me and was like "he's right, he is too rich and famous to not be caught yet" and i was extremely concerned cause the logic wasn't logic-ing
In the song 'Not Like Us', Kendrick refers to himself as John Stockton, therefore referring to Drake as Karl Malone. "If I was fucking young girls, I promise I'd have been arrested I'm way too famous for this shit you just suggested" Karl Malone was fucking a young girl (12 years old) but wasn't arrested. The family chose not to charge him because of his impending NBA fortune. He was too famous to be an offender. Chances are even if Drake did these things, nothing would happen and his fans would still defend him.
Kendrick DEFINITELY won, but to clarify, Drake uses so many double negatives as a FAILED attempt to tap into AAVE's usage of double negatives to emphasize the negative, not cancel it out. Like, my husband doesn’t follow me on instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc because he sees me every day. Social media is for the people who *don’t* live with me lol. Not everyone gives a shit about that stuff. And a family friend commenting hearts on pics of their kids definitely means he’s their dad?? That’s normal stuff.
Right and he was supposedly only father of one of her children so liking a family pic of all of them supposedly proves that? My husband had a photography business and that was his only instagram account. I used instagram for random content like travel and fitness accounts and I never followed him because I’m not watching for his content. But I would support his work in real life. It’s so silly that Drake used that lol
Great analysis! My narcissistic abusive ex-husband gaslighted me (before I know what that even was) so badly for years. I had to start keeping notes, writing things down with dates, times, and pictures. I had to keep recordings of conversations. Because he really had me questioning myself, my reality and believing I was crazy and making things up! They are SICKOS love to flip, and turn truth around
really happy your video showed up on my recommendation. not even fantano described it as well as you did. i think many of us were feeling the connections to kendrick’s lyrics, what it meant for drake to say what he did, but it was inexpressible, and you did that. also appreciate people in academia taking the time to be a part of modern culture and conversation and spending the energy to make it accessible. thank you dude!
Drake is not Hip Hop, he’s a POP artist. Even in this beef Kendrick is showing why he has a Pulitzer. Not just the in Lyrics but even in the actual notes in the music. He’s insanely talented. Drake is truly a colonizer. He’s uses others for his music. The origins of Hip Hop is about being original. No biting allowed.

The fact that you were about to break down and cry a bit over explaining Kendrick’s work is enough for you to gain all my respect for this video. Thank you so much sir for your understanding of what makes this piece of music so great and why Drake’s misunderstanding of it makes himself more of a problem of the culture and music as a whole.
I came across an LBJ story, about him accusing his opponent of fucking a pig. His campaign manager says, “Lyndon, you know he doesn’t do that!” Johnson replies, “I know. I just want to hear him deny it.” Drake was so scared of a repeat of Him vs Push, he started denying things which only gave it credence. The Heart Part 6 is such a mess.
Despite all the Drake stuff idk if that’s cap. 2 disses and no rebuttals, just cause Drake has some pedo stuff going on doesn’t mean this stuff won’t follow Kendrick
@@drakestrawser8460I feel you but consider that going on defensive with these points can be seen as a loss in itself. Look at how people are treating drake. Kendrick and Whitney might have both cheated on each other; there might have even been an altercation although there is 0 evidence so far of that. I doubt Dave free is involved as he has been one of Kendrick’s best friends since high school and they’re still active business partners and collaborators. And I sure as shit doubt drake has any evidence one of the babies isn’t Kendrick’s. If it’s true and Kendrick was just like “I will raise the child as my own and remain friends with everyone” he really is a saint

In any case, I find myself thinking of the response point to that, which is that we won't see "Drake" on such a list because they'd be using "Aubrey Graham" instead!
And hey, Greek would fit extra with all the susness being discussed.

Nah the misinfo angle is so stupid. “Yo, just tell kendrick im a PDF. Thats shit would be funny asf”. See how stupid that is
The only way the misinfo angle could've worked is if Drake did a meet the grahams and released a song about it shortly after or just had proof for the fake mole stuff which shouldn't be hard if he actually set it up.

A chapter which Drake uses to expose himself as an idiot, a nastier piece of work than he pretends to be and a hypocrite.
Amazing Breakdown!!!
As the other person said, great break down my man.

In the song 'Not Like Us', Kendrick refers to himself as John Stockton, therefore referring to Drake as Karl Malone.
"If I was fucking young girls, I promise I'd have been arrested
I'm way too famous for this shit you just suggested"
Karl Malone was fucking a young girl (12 years old) but wasn't arrested.
