Super helpful. Now I know where I need to pay extra attention and begin to schedule a longer time to get it done. Thanks a lot!

Thnaks for posting this very helpful video. I am contemplating a similar aged gate replacement and will certainly benefit from your first-hand insights.

Tip for future buyers.. Get the Adjust-A-Gate Contractor's Grade gate ( Lowes ) and you don't have to put a pin through the posts. They just attach it to the outside of the posts, which aligns them even better.

We just installed the kit-no problems with the 3" screws-they went right into the pressure treated 2 x 4's. One of the heads hadn't been punched out for the phillips head, but everything else went fine. Mounted the pickets flush-not over-lapping, like yours, and again, no gap, no problem Used a chop saw to cut 2 x 4's, but had used a sawz-all on the 4 x 4 post, and had no problem with "clean" or "smooth" edges

I installed fences for Lowe's for a couple of years and once you get your technique down you can knock it out in less than an hour.

My kit came with hinge plates for a wooden post that you screw in with normal screws. Way easier than the big bolt.

You are including timing with removing and adding new boards, that time is not a factor for the initial install time of the adjust-a-gate. Still a good video and instruction so i know to get a beefier cable for $8.00. But the overall time I believe is an hour.

If you know what you're doing, hence your name is Builders Plus. For someone who was absolutely clueless, more like weeks of thinking it over. Wasn't dragging when I started, then dragged really bad. What in the hell is this turnbuckle? It's actually very hard if this isn't your forte.

great video. So, can you set up this gate kit to swing either outward, and inward? I tried to install one of these a few years ago for my parents, and I could have sworn it only allows the gate to swing one way. I returned it. was I wrong??

It is made to swing in. Could it be hacked to swing out? Perhaps, but I don't think I would try it.

The instructions list two types of install. Inward and outward. You leave 1 inch post hinge screw out for inward swinging. For outward swinging door you leave 2 inch post hinge screw out.

Hah! a wrench hole. Guess it would have been easier! I just spent a good amount of time using the plumbers wrench. But they went in well. The reason I'm here is because the horizontal bar holes don't match up when you're using the extensions... Anyone had problems with that? I can just drill.. but that's not part of the instructions...

Does this come with the wood i saw another video saying it doesn’t

    • @exbadger1
      @exbadger1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

That is correct. Wood is purchased separately.

My bottom hinge keeps slipping. Do I just tighten the shit out of it? That's the only thing I can think of. And if that is the solution, it doesn't sound very secure

So this gate opens to the inside. The latch is on the inside. if you are on the outside of the gate then do you have to reach over the top to unlatch the gate? Seems pretty inconvenient

I bought a "TOOL TIME 186900 Gate Latch Cable Pull" off of amazon. Works well and has held up just fine. There are some TH-cam videos that show it. Search on "How to install the Gate Latch Cable". I agree that without this pull, it would be inconvenient.

Anyone else having trouble with the frame sliding through the "hinge brackets" and then sliding off the top hinge. Has happened to me multiple times now. Thinking of rotating the top hinge pin half a rotation more so that it's facing upward instead of downward as the direction indicate. However, I'm worried still about the frame itself sliding through these brackets. I'm afraid of overtightening them onto the frame, but I don't know what else to do!?

It's funny because I'm running into the same dilemma now. What did you end up doing? Keeping the top hinge facing down? Or up? Can't understand how down is better as the instructions say.

the instructions on this easy gate suck!!! I have flown through IKEA and Chinese instructions, but these absolutely suck. Good luck, you will succeed, but you will be taking this thing apart to rebuild the way you want. Just poor instructions. I don't know why they can't improve this.
