@@tomstrojnik I just have a few questions, which studies should I do to become an aerial filmographer? And is the eachine wizard220s a good beginer fpv drone?
I fly the Mavic Zoom but soon I will have my first FPV (DJI FPV). I plan to use it to record RC car videos. Your videos have been very helpful as I prepare for this FPV transition! Keep up with the great content!
Important: if you fly near roads and follow your subject have a spotter with you. I once nearly hit a young cyclist, he cycled directly towards my line so he appeared more like a dot and i was concentrated on following the motorcycle . I dont know how close it was but i still feel bad to this day. Never fly without a spotter on places with potential hazards.
Agree 100%, I think I mention this in one of the videos.. I always fly with at least one spotter and I make sure to check the area before flying. Glad to hear your situation didn't end up worse.. was a good lesson for sure :O
I would love, if you could do a vid about GoPro settings for cinematic FPV. And also what you are doing afterwards( so i mean in your editing pogram). Great video ;)
BRO that intro was pure eye candy, i was under the impression that these cameras are low resolution, boy was i wrong! fantastic shots man, great stick work!!!
I have so many things to say any questions to ask I don’t know where to start! First off your content is Hollywood movie quality and better. The sound effects are on point as well as everything else flowing and matching the tempo of the music. This is the first channel I found on TH-cam that I would follow and be excited for a new content. Been living on the road for about 7 months making TH-cam videos and this is the type of quality I hope one day I can produce. Did you go to school for film production or editing?
@@tomstrojnik Hell yeah brother! I’ll be waiting for more awesome content! If you love to travel check out my Mount Baker video for my valley of fire video! Those are some of my better ones✌️
I think having a gopro equiped at all times is important, as it keeps the weight of the drone the same. I flew without a gopro for a long time, and the second I put a gopro on, it felt different, the throttle responded different, that's why, for accuracy sake, I'd suggest keeping the rig the same even when just practicing.
Hey, good point.. because of this reason exact reason I used to fly with my old broken Gopro 6 mounted all the time.. can’t do it anymore, because Gopro 8 mount is bigger.. and tbh today I adapt to using different throttle with no problem. So when flying just for fun or when learning new skills... I leave my GoPro off😊
heya! i have a question: about shot planning, do you think in some cases is useful to "waste" a battery looking around? I imagine cases in which the pilot can't explore the place for various factors. Let me know what do you think, thanks! Keep the quality up man, you rock!
hey, 100% yes! I always try to do a warm up flight if possible, but a lot of times on set there is no time.. so it depends. But even before doing this "looking around warm up flight" - I would still suggest you check the area by walking around...before taking off.. For example last time I didn't check it because I was rushing and I almost hit wires .. I flew digital and I still didn't see them in my goggles because the background behind wires was dark... basically every situation is a unique one :)
Depends from how fast the objects you are filming are moving.. a general rule is that the faster they move, the higher your camera angle should be, because you will need to fly faster.. But there are exceptions to this rule, depends from stylistyc reason - from what angle do you want to film your subjects.. low camera angle or from the above down...so i use anywhere between 10 - 45.
I use 4K 50fpv, because I live in Europe. Yes I use reelsteady, i actually find it to work better with higher frame rate recording.. at least from my experiences :)
Hey Tom, thanks for a great video! Very helpful! One question, you said you mostly shoot action in 2.7k 4:3 and upscale it. But the Hero 8 can film 4K 30p in 4:3 format. Is there a reason you don't use that setting, and is there a benefit to shooting 60 fps over 30 fps? Thank you!
Hey Michael, from my experiences ReelSteady GO stabilises 50fps (or 60fps) much more efficiently.. when I try to stabilise 25 or 30fps - it blurs the footage more often.
@@tomstrojnik Thanks Tom! That makes sense. What about filming in 4K 60 fps but rather than 4:3, filming with the Superview or Wide lens? Is that not as cinematic as 4:3?
Thanks 😊 I'm flying Betaflight and for now I have the rates at default, as they come out of the box from iFlight. I believe they're in the 600-700 range.
