“Completely original”? Not quite - this is just a mix of david bowie, gentlemen take polaroids by japan, the cure, joy division and a sprinkle of black sabbath and metallica.
i cannot disagree. I can't find bands like this (of course). I mean you can listen to old stuff like Clan of Xymox and all other bands from the dark wave "goth" scene in the 80's. But they have all the good parts of those bands.

For someone who was extremely new wave and somewhat goth back in the early 80’s, I can honestly say, these guys have it! Cure, Xymox, Tears For Fears, Bauhaus….I close my eyes and I’m right back there!!!
I discovered drab majesty in 2018 and since then they are an essential part of my repertoire, in fact, they quickly entered my top 10 of all time bands.
Mark, thank you so much for uploading all of this show. This was my bachelor party and every time I think of that day it's filled with nothing but good memories. I didn't take many photos or videos and lived in the moment and now I can go back and relive it any time. Thank you 🙏
Fantastic. The guitar sound seems inspired by early Cure. I’m sure watching it live is pretty awesome but they need more members for their live concerts. I imagine it’s not something easy to find ones with the right chemistry but, they should pursue it and see if it works. Regardless of it, I enjoyed this very much!
It's a hugely popular tone from the 80's and early 90's. Single coiled guitar with a lot of chorus, reverb and delay. The synth also adds a lot to the overall sound.
I disagree. Maybe visually a drummer or a second guitarist would be interesting to watch on a live performance, but, for me, what I really enjoy on Drab Majesty is the perfect syncronic between the absolutly amazing guitar sound played by Deb Demore with the synths and drum machines performed by Mona D. Deb is such a great guitar player and the way that he plays it's so precise that seems a machine, but at the same time it's organic. I really love this line up. About the guitar sound, sometimes remembers The Cure, but i think that the major influence is Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), but Deb develop a unique style. Really fresh sound.
I was at this show. It was reeeeally long. They had 3 opening acts, like 30 minutes each, with gaps in between. With Drab Majesty, it was like 4+ hours total. The opening acts were good but it was just too much. It got kinda tiring waiting, just standing all that time, but when they came on, it was like a lightbulb turned on. Everybody in the room was totally sucked in.
So fucking good....I need to see these guys live. Really glad they played Long Division, the most underrated track on Modern Mirror.... that riff is beautiful.
Wow ! These guys are definitely the most serious, professional and well-rounded in the current 'Wave scene. Perfect live sound, stage presence is subdued fitting the music perfectly. That Cure guitar sound is spotless. I don't mean to criticize, but more "mainstream" acts like The Midnight pale in comparison (and their shows are clearly immensely well-funded). FIVE STARS !!!!!
I had the chance to see them in Glasgow last year. They were the support band for She past away. But i went to a party instead . I wish i had went to the gig.
This had been one of my *FAVORITE* concert videos. Now, it is filled with TH-cam commercials. Why would the person who uploaded it allow that? So disappointing.
Can anyone, please, name other great bands like this one so I can listen to them? I just can't find anything of quality nowadays... Good Old 80's, I miss you! These guys can be very actual but giving us that good old sound of the new romantics, from the post-punk era.
I really love Drab Majesty, but it's disappointing that after all their years of touring they still don't opt for live drums and continue using a drum track. The show would sound so much more robust with live drums.
Yes and I have often thought that, but at the core of it it’s these two guys… it probably wouldn’t be the same their sound is based around having a “ locked in”rhythm for the two of them to improv around to. If you want a more rockier sound check out VR Sex different enough but with similarities
They ended up going on superrrr late and I think most people were tired. I live 2 hours away and didn't get home until almost 4am on a Sunday night. Plus I think most everyone was older than me and probably had work in the morning. Otherwise lots of dancing (I watched from the back) and I think everyone had a good time
Depeche mode, meets bauhaus, meets tears for fears, meets cocteau twins, meets the cure. Pure magic
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
Add to that Flock of Seagulls and their guitarist Paul Reynolds.
Add The Cure...even some Duran Duran.
They’re pure magic
😅😅 that’s pretty accurate

Not a globe. A relm
@Minaso I eat raw meat too bro, goatis is the man. I guess drab majesty attracts a certain following
@@TheRealSandorClegane well they are original because of the blend they do from those original bands. Genius
@@TheRealSandorClegane “let me just name bands I know that this reminds me of” I am Tyler’s complete lack of originality
this has got to be the best band of this decade (subjectively of course but damn near objectively)
i cannot disagree.

10000000%%%%
Agreed 100%
TOTALLY concur!!!!
Agree. If you like this, I would recommend the Rush 80s stuff, like Power Windows. it reminds me a lot of those guys
That guitar sound is just blowing my mind, love it 👍
So clean
I was surprised when I saw he finger picks everything. Really amazing guitar work.

exactly! this is xymox, this is cocteaus, this is early Cure... but somehow distinctive, pretty amazing

Drab Majesty keeps music beautiful today
I just ordered the CD for my car, which has a killer sound system. Can't wait to blast it!
They look like there from the future
could this be my new favourite band, so haunting
Chills. So good. I'm finding them because Spotify just throws this my way one day and I'm transfixed. It's like my 80s flashback but also brand new!
They are the best of the 80s personified into a new fresh version in a profoundly beautiful way.
Holy fuck wasn’t expecting such amazing sound! It’s almost like I’m really there

I hear The Cure as well. In Your House...
LeGronk Yes, those shiny higher notes and how the notes go in circles is a lot like The Cure...

Why would they more live performers? Their studio sound is all guitar, synth, and programmed drums. What instrument would another person even play?
I think that possibly may have been the best gig i never went to
Whatever planet they're from, I'd like to visit🛸
39th by design masterpiece, beautiful intro
always nice to see a lefty guitar player, at first something seems off until you notice it
this band kicks ass, hopefully I get the chance to see them live at some point
Who ever was in charge of sound really fucked Mona over. He could of used more volume and reverb.
Still an amazing show and performance.
Exactly what I was thinking. The sound guy fucked up.
Loooooooove drab majesty! That etherial wave!
Thank you so much for recording this! Great audio quality.
Thank you so much for this! Incredible quality. We owe you one for sure!!

Why isn't there reverb on both vocalists?

Play it on a sunny day driving through the hills and I guarantee you'll feel everything. That song is so. Amazing.
Saw them last nite. One of a few bands that sound better live than recorded.Brilliant.
Noise of the void just kills me deeply ❤
The best I've discovered the past year, for sure

thanks ! The sound quality is very good

Great set list. But was really hoping for Dolls in the Dark,Unknown to the I and Ultraviolet.
The foyer would have been great too.
Excelente!!!!!
Oh Mylanta, these guys are so talented.I love the layering effects and the melodies are just epic and dreamy!!!

Was such a great show.
Excellent quality matching an excellent set
SIMPLY AMAZING!!! COME TO MEXICO, PLEASE!!!
The drab majesty rocks....
god im so excited
I wish I could put this concert on my Ipod. It's so good1
Son cautivantes, la guitarra suena fantástica y los sintetizadores los usan muy bien, tienen una propuesta muy original.
You are GREAT! And I hope I'll see you at Exit festival!
Waiting for Drab Majesty in Mexico, but great to enjoy a recording with excellent quality like this. Thanks a lot

it's youtube..download ad blocker
it was incredible ❤️
I dont understand why they never play dolls in the dark, which is the best track on modern mirror
saw them in sandiego and wondered the same thing :(
amazing
Drab majesty amazing
but... I love it when Mona sings!! YuY
No 'Not just a name' ? ☹️
Too bad the voice mics or their set up distorts their voices

Guitar 🎸 soul
If they added a bass player, drummer and another guitar for live shows they would sound even better.
You're not a musician, otherwise you wouldn't say such a huge bullshit.

Lord, homeboy on the right can't sing to save his life, but the guy on the guitar is unreal.
It's less that he can't sing and more that the sound engineer has left his vocals totally dry and not blended with everything else.
@@therealcarlmarti I noticed that too, its voice is totally clean, no tunning or improvement.
I love this band so glad you mention that lol he was wayyyy off.

i come here specifically for 14:02 -> 14:36 ♥️
Muy bueno , menos cuando canta Mona , te hace sangrar los oidos
love it this band but Mona please don't singer in live
They're funny, but not funny enough for me.
Great new found band for me, one criticism only..........why not let the one with the good voice sing all the songs (the guitarist) Fave song Ellipsis
No idea why the keyboard clear decided to go with completely dry vocals on his mic with zero effects that was a def mistake
