    SO Kiki-Jiki can still combo using Deciever Exarch or Village Bell Ringer while there is a Phyrexian Censor in play. But Censor will shut off the one-card win-cons with Birthing Pod and Felidar Guardian

    • @juice17776
      @juice17776 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would it still be effective if you play Birthing Pod, then sac your Phyrexian Censor that’s in play, fetch the Felidar Guardian, then win? Or is that too edgecase

    Borborygmos and Fbltph's activated ability is an infinite mana outlet.

    Something worth mentioning with Omen Hawker is that is can make infinite colorless mana with Freed From the Real. Might be relevant because it’s the first thing that can do that in mono blue by itself. Good in Urza or as a Walking Ballista outlet.

    the broodlord is a polymorph target, which allows essentially a 1 card combo, where the card you get is saw in half, target your own broodlord, get burnt offering and reanimate etc and go from there

    Loved the video, I cannot wait for Yargle and Multani!
    Anyway, thoughts on the card evaluations.
    Dusk Legion Duelist works very well with Raffine.
    Phyrexian Censor does not stop the Kiki+ Village Bellringer combo and a surprising amount of creatures in Winota have been errated to phyrexian.
    Omen Hawker also has a home in Reality Chip decks.
    Shalai and Hallar + The Red Horror/Heliod is not stopped by any stax piece played in cEDH (assuming Heliod is not a creature so Curse Totem doesn't work on it). It's probably still a worse deck than Rocco but it is able to play straight stax.

    • @jaydonthewarrior636
      @jaydonthewarrior636 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is exactly why I think it's more correct to evaluate this as 3 colored Heilod rather then a worse Rocco.

    Here’s a thought about the blue battle that enables convoke: with Tymna/Kraum as commanders and on the battlefield, you cast the battle for 3 mana, smack it with Kraum, transform the battle. The battle says untap for creatures in endstep. The battle gave you two creatures, plus your commanders, you now have 4 convoke mana. You can now cast an end step Ad Naus on opponents turn for 1 black mana. Or 0 mana if you have another black creature besides Tymna.

  • @PolskiSuzeren
    @PolskiSuzeren ปีที่แล้ว

    I converted my Vohar list to Rona to test, expecting her to be worse, but I was very impressed. Banishing Knack has a functional duplicate in retraction helix, and you can also use Opal in addition to amber, plus the wishclaw being a 1-card way to assemble those, so your combo density is significantly higher than some other IsoRev decks, and paired with her looting (which will occasionally get extra loots per turn cycle) she can assemble stuff very reliably. She quickly enables amber and fierce/rollick, cracks doomsday piles, and there's some hidden value in being able to use banishing/helix to bounce a stax piece, cast a legend to untap her, then go for combo (maybe getting multiple bounces, depending on your legends available)

    Dusk Legion Duelist. I'm not sure it makes the cut in Tayam. Yes, it deals with counters, but you're wanting to remove them for the Sevinne's effect. You want stuff that enters with multiple counters for as cheap as possible. If anything makes the cut for that deck its tribute to the world tree.
    It's definitely asymmetric.

  • @eliorbilow8797

  • @Some_Context

    Surprised you didn't mention Hidetsugu and Kairi. It says do stuff for free and is in dimir which is basically cEDH already. I made a turbo reanimator list which has performed pretty well so far. There are also some more control style builds I've seen out there which may be a bit better, though in my incredibly biased opinion less fun to pilot. While I don't think it's the greatest commander, it definitely has some legs and is worth considering.
    (Originally commented with the decklists but it looks like that got removed, or I just forgot to hit comment like a dumbass. Both likely)

  • @LuckyReden
    @LuckyReden ปีที่แล้ว

    The thing I will say about “post ad naus” cards, though they may be a little win more, is at least you can stop flipping when you hit them right. Like the red one you can think of instead as 5 life to double your ad naus from whatever spot you hit it at. Assuming you cast ad naus at opponents end step, you untap and use it to just swap your hand. Idk.

  • @SickOfItAll1988
    @SickOfItAll1988 ปีที่แล้ว

    I feel like that you forgot a huge part during the Infernal Sovereign discussion: While you're right and Bolas' Citadel is bricks often when you don't have Necropotence or something like a Viscera Seer in play, you still cast the spells without paying mana. The demon draws you a card per spell, but you can't do anything if you don't have mana to spend.
    I feel like that's the power of Citadel, being able to pseudo adnaus when you have a way to get rid of the top card, so these two cards aren't really comparable imo

  • @AgentFulgoreBasedDepartment
    @AgentFulgoreBasedDepartment ปีที่แล้ว

    i built a Thalia & Gitrog deck a while ago, started it back when the card was spoiled lol. obviously i was super, super hyped about it lol. i made it stax-xy (asymmetrical ones: Drannith, Drana & Linvala, Authority of the Consuls etc) but jammed extra land shenanigans, a couple of token generators, and multiple infinite combos (Heliod + Ballista, Apprentice + CoS). it sounds convoluted af but i’ve won as early as Turn 4, and been able to pull off the two infinite combos twice after they were responded to.
    i’ve consistently gotten really good hands, and been able to shut people down from tutoring (i play in a tutor-heavy meta) by flashing in an Opp Agent. i also can play Null Rod, Collector Ouphe, Stony Silence type cards since i don’t use mana rocks (but i want to try some adjustments before i shove more stax pieces in it).
    it’s become my favorite deck to play (and i’ve had an Athreos Apostle storm deck for years, which was my prior favorite). this might not be cEDH based on the decklist, but it’s very high powered and VERY fun (the more important part for me lol).
    i have a mono blue Urza deck and a turbo combo Old Stickerfingers deck if i want to just gogogogogo for the win as fast as possible anyway lol. but yeah, 20/10 highly recommend Thalia & Gitrog as a commander lol.

    While not really CEDH, if I'm correct, Invasion of Ikoria in a Yarok deck brings the Shrieking Drake + Cloud of Faeries combo out for just 4 mana if you have Yarok out. Kinda neat tutor that way.

    Please play a Ghave "cEDH" deck in one of your games, Play to Win. I know you typically keep with the tier 1 crowd of commanders but I'm sure some of the lower tier commanders would be fun to watch too. Lerker has an "outdated" (5 mths old) list on the cEDH database that could probably have some new additions. It's sort of his pet deck so if you reached out to him I'm sure he'd be more than happy to go over the lines with you.
    I've personally been toying around with a cEDH Ghave enchantress list the past few years that Lerker inspired me to create from what he considered as a failed clunky attempt for himself.

    Here's another card that has limited relevance. Hangar Scrounger combined with Seeker of Skybreak and Torch Courier provide the first Gruul win on turn Hulk pile. Every other variation required either to pass turn or other cards in play.
    Get all 3 with Hulk, give Seeker haste via Torch. Have at least 2 cards in hand.
    Mill deck. Then if you have 2 mana available cast underworld breach (you can always filter it into your hand) and win via breach.
    You need more cards in hand the less mana you have when you do the turn (up to 4)
    This is only really useful in strictly Gruul since adding any other color gives better lines.

    Surge of salvation stops brain freeze wins because brain freeze can't target you with hexproof. Also prevents blood artist loops and anything that targets you the player as part of a win condition. This is pretty big because breach lines are some of the best wincons out there, but this also stops a heliod ballista, and niv-mizzet curiosity

    If Etali had the infect keyword, there are some weird niche interactions from previous sets that it would effect. Or at least that's my guess as to why they didn't give it infect. And the Descent into Calamity doesn't say you need to stop at 13, you can keep going to exile your library

    I don't think tayam cares about dusk legion duelist. In the deck we have the so-called "counter generators", which are creatures that can put counters on themselves, but the only creatures that get specifically +1/+1 counters are managorger hydra; rishkar, peema renegade; and undying creatures if you're on the altar combo. Other creatures for example put -1/-1 counter (devoted druid), -0/-1 counter (wall of roots) and vigilance counters from tayam

    Pretty sure you can play out of your color identity as long as the pips aren't there. That's why colorless decks can play the mightstone and weakstone. Right?

      With Ephara, Ever-Sheltering and Heliod, the Warped Eclipse (back side of Invasion of Theros and Heliod, the Radiant Dawn), what makes them Blue? There are plenty of cards with off-color borders e.g. Baral, Chief of Compliance.

    Infernal Sovereign is a Null Profusion or a Recycle as a creature, these cards already don't see play as enchantments, I doubt it will see much play.
    Also I built a Yargle and Multani that's basically the same strategy and I think berserk is much better than giant growth

    Just wanted an opinon.Wouldn't path of the pyromancer just infinite on it's own with underworld breach if you have at least 5 cards in hand. Not sure if it's good enough in cedh but thought it would be cool to put in my veyran deck

    I had a friend run the new heliod in a more casual game and he managed to windfall > omniscience on my end step. never letting that card stay on the field again lmao
    Rona can also use Banishing Knack, another 1 cmc instant that does the exact same thing. there's some really bad janky pauper decks that use both of them lol

    One thing to add because I’m not sure it was mention is that path of the pyromancer can serve as a 2 card combo with underworld breach because it refunds your mana and the combo ends with you having cards in hand and a surplus of red mana at the end. Probably not too great still but something I wanted to mention.
