When I was 17 I gave up in becoming a DJ becuse I coudn’t afford record players, records etc...Now I see this genious guy and I think that a creative mind if seriously motivated can find a way to fulfill his dream. Respect !
@ today, molstly every equipment can be found at cheap price as per dj softwares and liquid music....but I lost motivation that it is the most important thing...
From its earliest beginnings, hip Hop, and turntable ism has always been about making something out of nothing. When I first started djing, I used CD players. Compact CD players. I pre-planned everything that I was going to play, and measured out the bpms in advance so I would know what song would blend with the next.
It's only a SL-1200......not a SP 1200! lmao. MK2s are the most prevalent turntable in the world......in Japan you can find em dirt cheap relative to the US. Now, if he had SL-1210G......or even a MK7 sitting there......different convo. Those custom mod cassette players are more valuable than the 1200 though. Much love from the west coast. Bet
So many reasons why this is almost makes me wanna cry!! I don’t know where to start! The song choices are brilliant, just supreme!! And there’s no way to share my joy of the ability to mix tapes, that’s crazy!! I’m kissing this whole concept. I’m sending hugs and kisses to you!!! Thank you for your genius and song choices!!!
Be cool to see VHS video with pitch control and with auto cue rewind or fast forward. Some say been already out years ago in video stations. I haven’t see any yet lol.
this is the most chaotic format I could think of to mix with! Just to be able to find what point you need to be at on the tape with no visual grooves or track numbers- so good!!
Manali India, summer 1991, best parties of my (techno) life. All on cassettes. Cassette sound is "naturally" compressed and very pleasing for human ears... Kudos to the makers and to the deejay!!
I was a cj (cassette jockey) in 90s but this is very impressive. I used 5 cassettes player to mix all songs and made some scratch sound like a turntable. Wow.. I do really appreciate this.

@@pimuce The same way you do with a vinyl record. For what I've understood, his decks have that lever he presses with the palm of his hand while spinning the acrylic record. That seems to disengage the motor from the sprockets in the tape, allowing you to listen while fast forwarding or rewinding. Releasing the lever makes the tape start playing from where he beat matched.
and to think I gave away my 300+ cassette collection, simply because I couldn't find a decent player that didn't eat tapes. 10 years ago. Very Nice Set Up.
Man just look how my Asian Brother mixing with cassette tapes in 2022? I remembered recorded so many music on TDK, BASF, MAXELL, FUJI, etc., All those tapes eventually got destroyed. This Brother got so much different styles of music on cassette tapes. And made his own electronic equipments? Ooedotechnica is a smart individual as well.
I was in 86 Dutch mix champion in The Netherlands on national fm radio. I wished this existed that time. Big compliments for your creativity. Amazing, you blow me away👍👍👍
This music is completely unfamiliar to me but it's just what I needed to hear today!!! Thanks for making this. I'm surprised this is coming off of cassettes, it sounds great.
much respect!👍🤩 we built similar deck in 1998 using 2.walkmans. We did not touch the reels during beatmixing but implemented a plus and minus nudge HW microswitch for both walkmans and those momentarily raised or lowered the motor speed when pressed (ofc with a small electronic added to motor control circuitry)
@@the_moment_work thank *you for the great mixes👍 yes I am an electrical engineer but back in the days, when we built the 'walkman deck' I was teenager and going to secondary technical school. Those days we were keen to do cool stuff you know.. organizing parties, DJing and constructing audio gear was certainly on our agenda 😎. And we had all the instruments in the school's labs and we also received kind support/advice from teachers, so it was a great atmosphere for kids like us.. I feel too nostalgic already 😂 hahah.. //and I have to admit that I have some midrange casette decks today and a few hundreds tapes from the 90s..
Just wow. From the custom equipment to the fact that you are DJing on CASSETTE TAPES just brings back so many good vibes and sheer amazement. I showed you to my coworkers, and everyone was quite impressed with this. Nice stuff.
Not everyone will like this kind of music. If I were you, I would put something electronic, say, house or eurodance of the 90's, or italo-disco of the 80's, in case of emergency. Not everyone likes listening to hip-hop.
Wow this is absolutely incredible! Not only is this technique crazy cool, but the song selection is amazing! So many new songs/artists I want to check out now. Thank you!

So amazed by the innovation and creativity from ooedotechnica. Stayed up all night checking his TH-cam channel. Making and mastering his own gear!!! Gotta say track selection is dope. Big up!
This is actually the most amazing mix I've ever seen, I thought of mixing with cassettes was never possible but here we are from Japan doing all the amazing hard work, awesome work my dude! Keep up the good work :)👍✨
That equipment is dope as fuck, I had no idea you could DJ with cassettes! EDIT: You could never Dj with cassettes until this guy invented it! Absolute Legend!
Back then I started djing with a very modest two deck radiocassete player out of a need to mix some music by any means. I did bpm sync with two cassette that were bpm close if you slow down the faster one by pressing very gently the thumb fingertip against the rotating shaft. Sounds weird but I even try to make some (really bad..) mixtapes with this method. It was very very expensive to buy the standard dj gear at that time but I learn a lot by doing this cheap mixing. Your dj set and your equipment are so cool. I'm amazed...congratulations!!
I love this tech, the build, the skills and the song choices. Kudos for getting some Nujabes in there too 👌 I tinkered with tape decks when I was a kid but was never brave enough to take my tape deck apart. I settled for 1210s when I got older 😂
