Another superb tutorial Graeme, taking me a while to watch all your videos, thanks again for taking the time to put them out, mate. I am taking up fishing again after about 35yrs and you are showing me methods of fishing that were not around back then and of course, bringing back some nice memories.
I grew up float fishing and after so many years it's hard to believe that float fishing has become a niche. Crucian carp and tench are great sport on lighter tackle.
Graham you remind me so much of my old grandad (no offence) by far the best most interesting vids iv seen you like John Wilson but with a sense of humour ! keep the vids coming ! Tight lines all the Best !
Bury Hill my go to fishery for just about every speices you need.. great bag of crucians there Graham well done mate. i will be visiting very shortly for crucians/Tench.
Going to Burton Springs tomorrow, to take grandson float fishing, hope some crucians will be in the mix. The fishery has been nicely upgraded by the new owners.
Crucian carp on the float,in the summer.........magic. What about that nice rudd you had and showed the camera, just before 23mins,you didn`t give it a mention. Thoroughly enjoyed the video Graeme.
Very good video that. Takes me back a good number of years to when I used to fish in a mid-sized pond in a farmer's field in Cheshire. Caster was favourite and sometimes bread. I used to chuck a crust into the water the day before (Mr. Crabtree style) and the Crucians and Rudd would come around. Not huge fish but fun to catch. Early morning was the best time for Tench and I had the pond to myself so no witnesses to the near-records I caught. Oh well... ;-)
Wow well done ! this program should be on sky ! its not often you see crucians any more where i live in the north west of the uk its rare you catch them these days .
Damn! That’s a beautiful place Graeme! I love to be able to cross the big pond someday and fish some of Britain’s beautiful waters! Now that’s on my bucket list!!!!!
Graeme, thank you for your no-nonsense, back to basics approach in your videos! Would you please recommend a decent carping rod for a fixed spool reel that won't break my wallet? I live in the US and most of the rods I see are geared towards largemouth bass, 6 foot average and usually for bait-caster reels. We are SO far behind when it comes to good carping gear, and general appreciation for the species, but thanks to guys like you, the word is getting out. Good Fishing!

If you're ever down Plymouth way then get in contact, I know a quiet lake with some pretty big crucians (3lb 8oz is my pb from the place) just the other side of the river. Average stamp of roach is about half a pound, loads of bream, a few tench and carp and some very big (although tricky) rudd.
Graeme, the silver one is an F1 carp hybrid, similar to a crucian they are made when a carp and a crucian breed. Also you can use 2mm micro pellets in a cage feeder or around a method feeder and it works very well, give it a try.
Greame i live very close to bury hill and and part of the carp membership my uncle has a couple of lakes very near to bury hill that have some absolute stunning lakes and there a lake that the angling times think could break the golden orfe record it newdigate farms look it up and be awsome to see you on the bank some day
GamerX Working on one literally right now.10.30pm I'm still on the edit suite.Should be up very soon.More carpy tips from another expert.Keep watching....and spread the Awesome word.....
I've turned to sea fishing this year but watching this has made me want a crucian. My fave coarse species and I know a little lake with not a lot of them but when u get one it's definitely going to be over two pound my pb is 3.8lb and bailiffs is 4.8lb on lake. One prob not allowed to show pics of lake or tell where it is. But I would tell Graeme if he wants hehe
GREAT video, honestly better than most of those actors on the fishing show in TV. Im looking at starting to float fish in my local river that ranges from a fast flow to and extremely slow flow (4-10 yards across) but what are your top 3 tips for a new float fisherman?
Connor Hudston well no answer so let me have a go, plumb your depth, spend 10 a couple of mins, float unweighted plumb it out, start off by setting your float over depth leaving maybe 3-4ins in the bottom! That done, put out a bit of ground bait quantity depending on conditions, (are the fish on it? Ask around, ask other anglers how it's going) like the man says you can put it in but can't take it out, go easy, bait up your chosen swim, take your time, relax, get everything ready and your self comfortable net and mat ect at hand, all set, bait your hook, and drop it into your baited area with the least fuss and noise possible, sit back, look for signs of life, scan the lake for your next move, the bit will come eventually, then it's just a case of topping that swim up with loose feed, keep the shoals heads down, little is better than too much, you need thos fish competing! A feeding shoal will bring in more fish, trickle feed! Let's say it's all going by the book, you have a frothing mass of fish infront of you! You have 2 choices, start lowing your float so your baits off the bottom in increasing chances of a bite on the drop! Or (this is maybe just me,) assume this activity is going to bring the big fish in, swap over to a larger bait or even plastics, something that's Gana hand around longer, resist the smaller fish and give the big girls a chance at it!
Lovely looking venue and fish to match. Nice to see a video that isn't an advert for fancy tackle or gimmicks. Bread basket rod rest, awesome! How do you tend to use hemp though as an old school bait or is it for loose feed?
was down at shorne country park (near gravesend) on saturday caught a 2 pound roach like you! Plus have any of you guys ever caught a common carp with a lump in the side? as i caught one of saturday only 4 pounds.
Hi, Err.. Im not sure if you take requests for new videos or anything but I'm just starting to get into river pikeing and perch fishing, I was wondering if you could do a small guide on like some suitble cheap useable rods and reels for beginners... Ive look around but there no guide out there that has any real good points about it all! If you could do this for me it would really help out and I would appreciate it very much. I'm only 15 and I'm a carp angler but I'm wanting to try some diffrent methods of fishing so anything would be great. Much thanks Cain.
Tough fish to catch, I have always done well on lakes, opposite side to the wind blowing, so the undertow is at my end, while everyone else fish's into the wind. But only ever got mine like yourself on the delicate lift bites on the pole, very shy creature
If you want to catch some truly massive Crucians try fishing marsh farm fishery in Godalming, Surrey. These set of lakes are stocked with tench and Crucian carp. The Crucians go to 4lb 10 (the British record) if you do go fish Harris lake for the bigger specimens in this lake they average 2lb + in johnsons the members lake they average 3 lb. 8o.z + with a four pound specimen easily possible.
Hi taf when I get fizzing/bubbles I always move away from the area as it's mostly the gases from the bottom being disturbed an you get a lot of missed bites foul hookers as the swim becomes. Cloudy an hectic
Smitbar is dead right. I think they're £28 ($35) for the year. They're needed on rivers, canals and non-private open waters. The money goes into the EA, which has worked well.
enjoyable video and proper fishing for me. one point though, and this is not directed at Graeme in anyway, but why is it acceptable to use nets in a match but not for pleasure, when even the shop guy himself said no harm came to the fish for being in the net. A pleasure angler is more than likely not to get as many fish in his net as a top matchman is - seems odd rules to me. nice video, lovely fish.
Jason Renshaw Because matches are on average once every week to two weeks, so you can imagine if every angler on a daily basis used keep nets the fish would be at a higher risk to taking damage not to mention not all anglers are used to using keep nets and have the correct knowledge of how to handle fish when using one. Hope this helped
Jason Renshaw It is curious,as I hardly ever use a net now.Years ago I had up to 300lb of Irish bream in two huge keepnets when writing articles. It was just the way it was back then.Changed now,but you are right. Why OK for match anglers ? I did think about it myself at the time. But the modern carp keepnets are much more fish friendly.Personally I always hated lugging a water soaked keepnet about.
***** you say that matches are every week to two weeks, fair enough, but then most anglers who work only get to go at weekends which is the same as every week to two weeks surely? Don't get me wrong, I can't remember the last time that I used a keepnet so it is not that I want to - it just seemed a bit off an odd thing to say.
You are just thinking about yourself in this scenario, lots and lots of people go fishing mid week i have days off work mid week so believe me i have seen some fisheries full throughout the week.
dan katla sharpe No,not the Thresher, they run offshore.Porbeagle and Sixgill sharks are what I would like off the shore.Already had Lemons to about 150 off the shore inj Florida.Have also tried Blue shark in the Isles of Scilly. No luck yet though.
InTheNameOfJustice have a look at BlacktipH this channel is like TAfishing all about the total experience of fishing not the usual ego builders or tackle tarts. Thanks Graeme your our funny fishing youtube grandad !!!!!!!!!
Can put more in but cant take it out has been a saying since the 60s lol Always nice to remind youngsters of this though, see so many throwing far to much in and ruining their chances
***** Did three new ,back-to-back Beach Quest films just this week.Exhausted !!!Miles over boulders and cliffs lugging tackle ,tripods and camera gear. But great new footage.Keep watching.
You're an inspiration to us not so experienced anglers who want to have a go without the need for all the expensive gear. Keep Pullen them in!!!

Lovely to see a lake stocked with prime Crucian Carp, catching the big carp is fun but I do like the more old fashioned fishing.
Just wished there was more lakes managed like this for tench and crusians love float fishing

jonsmyth I use it more as a feed attractant in groundbait.
Thanks for this. As a beginner I’d have preferred some more film of a bite, how the float reacts and when/ how hard to strike. Otherwise good effort.
I fish bonds lake there and a session ago I pulled out a 16lb 3oz common it's an amazing fishery
Great Video ....!!!👍
Awesome video mate! Love crucian carp fishing. Could you tell me the name of the music that is playing at 21.08 please? Cheers! Keep em coming 🐟
First class fishing
Crucians are one of our most beautiful fish. I also mourn their decline in our waters
Not too many places to catch them now. Pushed out by the bigger Carp I guess.
Nice normark float rod 👍
I really enjoy your channel. What are your thoughts on the Hardy Zenith fly rods?

Know about it,but I didn't think it was a day ticket ? Thought it was club only ?
Have you guys Been fishing in Australia before
you got the same fishing rod as me but my's clearner
Hi taf when I get fizzing/bubbles I always move away from the area as it's mostly the gases from the bottom being disturbed an you get a lot of missed bites foul hookers as the swim becomes. Cloudy an hectic
Neil Murphy fizzing bubbles are usually a sign of feeding tench
Im surprised you were not using multi coloured maggots, at my local shop they come in yellow, orange and slighty green
You should go and fish at Chichester lakeside holiday park
Canadian geese in that pond LOL!
Do you have to have a fishing license in the uk

True but that's the nature of the beast. I find it would be unnecessary to use them in a pleasure session.
You should do courses fishing set up are tips
Hi Graeme Is it gossip or are you still after catching a Thresher shark from the shore?

Japanese white crucians? Very unusual.
Spot those crucians...or any other fish!!!! We remember.
What is the venue?
simon berus I do believe its in the film.Old Bury Hill fishery.Milton Lake ?
might have been better off using one float rod, very fortunate at points not to lose fish in the pads.
At 20 mins through his rod going in the background lol
+Tom Hill Fishing It's not another bite, it's the fish in the net that is still hooked.
Breadbasket rodrest😂😂😂😂
