Bron Hebog: Model vs Prototype | Welsh Highland 009 Narrow Gauge Model | The Railway Room

Today on The Railway Room is a look at Bron Hebog, a large (20' by 10') 009 scale model railway based on Beddgelert and the surrounding area on the rebuilt Welsh Highland Railway. In this video we compare a couple of shots of the model with footage filmed on the real life locations which inspired it. This multi award winning layout has been described as incredible and mind blowing, and surely ranks as one of the finest achievements in 009.

Note that some of the model footage has been slowed down to match the prototype, as (despite its large size) the model is slightly compressed in size, and models generally tend to run at slightly faster than scale speeds.

It's a wonderful model - having seen it for real.... one tiny reservation is, whether it is pulling a paying load of passengers, a matter of much concern in recent times.

Yes, very! 25' long, with most of the scenic area 7'6" deep, and then fiddleyards across the back on top of that
